Chase or no chase... the Monster Energy Supercross Champion should be the racer who scores the most points during the entire Supercross season.
Then you can have your Monster Energy Race the Chase Champion with a
Million Dollar purse from Monster Energy, or whoever else would want to sponsor the chase. {this could bring in a NEW huge sponsor, one that Feld could name the chase after}
During the chase the riders in the chase would not collect purse money at the individual chase races {this will mean more money for the riders not in the chase}. The riders in the chase would be paid at the end of the chase.
Just think how intense the racing will be for the riders in the chase to make the main events. And now with more money for the riders not in the chase they might try a little harder to make the main event?? {this could make the races less boring and maybe have some on the edge of your seat drama that everyone is after}
Also Feld Entertainment should put up 10 million dollars... why?? For a rider who can put together an undefeated season! {Feld could advertize this like the Ten Million Dollar Supercross Championship and maybe bring in new fans to TV or the stadiums}
They should also put up an additional 1 to 5 million dollars for any rider that goes undefeated during the race the chase championship! {again advertize this like crazy}

If they had that system in 03 chad would have won over RC.
1) bring back Friday practice....at least for the privateers or those who want to be there. Allows slower privateers who might not have a lot of track time during the week to get used to the track. Run'em 5pm-8pm; shouldn't affect necessary travel/arrival time.
2) Main concern with chase format is injuries. It isn't fair for a rider who goes into the chase healthy, then gets banged up and kills his chase result, but his overall series result would have been good enough for himself, team, and sponsors. Versus someone who comes into series banged up (perhaps missing races), makes chase, is better rested and peaking at right time, and kills it in the chase portion. Injury impact on our sport is much different than NASCAR.
Im not 100% sure about this but I believe arenacross uses closer scoring (ex.) 16 first 15 second 14 third. Maybe that's what we need to do to keep points closer.
Seems to me fans just wait till the last race of the year to see who wins the title. No more emphasis on the individual races throughout the season.

David Vuillemin states:
“They never used to touch them”, “Timed practice causes them to get one lined because no hay bales in practice”,
“It was rutted, it was shitty”.
Jason Thomas states: “I personally think it takes away from the racing so much”,
“ The whoops at night were a joke”, “They turn it into a freeway” ,“These guys are incredibly capable, I say make the tracks tough”
I don't what more there is to say.
Stay tuned, I will bet that the Nationals will change over to a chase format if they see TV ratings raise in SX.
However that and top rider participation percentage is fixed... I am for it. Chase, reduction of event count, regional series leading to a shorter championship series.
Pit Row
Supercross is not broken there is no need to fix it. If you want an example of how to mess up a good thing, just look at the new qualifying format they introduced this year in F1..... Now everyone runs a few mins each session and then parks in there garages. A total joke.
The sad truth is that sometimes sporting seasons get "boring" simply because there is a standout person/team that walks away from the competition. But, isn't this the purpose of sporting competition - to reward the best?
Entertainment has a much different focus than an a sporting event, its goal is to provide excitement at each single production. Not a bad purpose nor at times not inconsistent with the philosophy of a sporting competition/series.
My problem with the "chase" idea is that I think SX should remain a sporting competition. I view this chase concept as "headed down the rabbit hole" of trying to insure a sporting competition/series meets the goals of entertainment at all times and in all circumstances. I view this as an unrealistic goal.
The question posed to the Anti-Chase crowd is "Why not try it, we can always try something else?" To the Pro-Chase contingency I'd like an answer to: "Do we want to Grow our sport or Grow our entertainment"?
You are spot on.
Jeff Gordon said it best. He said that NASCAR drivers are no longer racers they are entertainers that race.
Go old school and sprinkle in a couple MX Nationals during the SX season. Have a USGP or two during the MX National season.
Get some variety back in the mix. Go with some ideas that are from your own sport with a proud history. No need to copy other sports or try to create a playoff system.
Supercross silo + MX Nationals silo + MXGP silo = divided interests.
We can always go back.
Can't beat him... Change the rules... A bunch of pussies...
They did the same thing in Nascar... "The stop Jimmy Johnson rule"... only difference is 10th place in Nascar every
year and you're Rich...
Feld puts on Big Foot Truck Races... What that tell you?... That's not a sport...
Are you going to watch the NCAA Basketball Championship 3rd place trophy game? I know I am super pumped for it.
