Fighting the bike will cause you to expend more energy than your body has.

I've said this before and nobody seems to want to listen. Eli's bike is setup in a way to help keep the shoulders from working as hard as they normally would. Softer in the front , rebound , bar adjustments and so forth. It doesn't matter what you " think " the issue is , anyone who has had shoulder surgery x 2 , knows this isn't something that's going to be 100% for quite a while. Every week they make strides and are slowly getting the bike back towards normal settings. Honestly , I don't see those shoulders being 100% until the end of the year. I think he'll still be re-habbing both shoulders until well into the outdoor season. Just hope he doesn't re-injure either one of them in the process.

You are just paraphrasing that info from an ML512 post. Do you even know if that soft setup is even still in use?

I know that his bike settings are still not "normal " compared to what he wants. And I never saw ML type anything about this.

If you ask anyone that had the shoulder injuries that Eli has had , they would tell you it would be impossible for a person to get both shoulders to 100% in this amount of time. No matter how much re-hab you do , it still takes more time then what Eli has given them. He'll get stronger and stronger no doubt , but if anyone thinks this is his 100% as fast as he can go....your mistaken.

You guys know how it goes. When a rider has issues they like to talk about other shit or play it off. Eli is no different.

I really like Tomac and expect him to do well outdoors. However, I just don't buy the BS about chasing settings based on his shoulders. If that was the case, why wouldn't Eli just say it? It wouldn't be bashing Kawasaki and it wouldn't be putting himself down. Don't get me wrong, I know his shoulders aren't 100% and those injuries are no joke but do you really think his shoulders are so weak the suspension is kicking his ass? You can hit a wall jump, doubling or tripling in yet your forks are soft and unstable? I just can't wrap my head around it.

This is my opinion. I may be wrong.

maybe eli doesn't like to make excuses. he decided to race and that is what he does. he said a view times now that his expectations in the beginning were to high and that his body and bike are not where he wants it plus that has been explained by his dad. he doesn't need to justify anything. does it matter for us why and what? no. as long as he knows how to fix it, it's all good plus you don't want your competition to get the impression that you are not ready for battle.

I said this in a thread a few weeks ago and I'll reiterate here. The whole "still getting the bike dialed" excuse is utter and complete shit, IMO. So he's been riding the KX since Nov. 1. In 4 1/2 months, a professional rider who rides several days a week and has a whole slew of mechanics and engineers at his disposal can't get the setup down? Give me a break. I realize settings will change slightly for different tracks, but he should have a solid baseline setup on the bike by now.

Not sure what happened last night. Looked to me like he pushed really hard in the first few laps then sort of blew himself up. Also consider that Roczen and Dungey are really, really fast indoors. All things being equal I put those two ahead of Eli in terms of supercross ability. I don't think they are as much faster as they were last night, but maybe he wasn't gelling with the track.

He soundly won Daytona and while it wasn't as rough as usual, it was still rougher, longer and more strenuous than a regular 20-lap supercross. I think we can discard the shoulder and fitness excuses. Eli is just not as good at supercross as his competition. Outdoors is another story.

I don't really buy that shit either. I know it was a different size bike but in 250's eli damn near won a title in his rookie year, he then won it the next year being better, faster than Wilson and everyone else. Then in his last year he passed Kroc every race he started behind him. I do not recall Kroc every passing him. Sure Roczen won the title but Eli made some big mistakes that cost him that title. Eli had everyone covered that year.

I'll admit I do not know what is wrong with eli but for all the times I've read on here (and it's been quite a few times) that Eli isn't that good at supercross is bs. The kid is really good at supercross and is fucking awesome outdoors.

You gotta remember these guys are all so close and all pushing it that little things show big. Top 10 were within 1 sec in quali. He finished 5th i think and forget how many seconds off the leader but not terrible for 20 laps. It is coming down to what type of chain lube you used. I have no idea what it was, but i doubt it was some huge big deal. Just some minor factors coming together. Plus top 4 rode very well.

It's the fact that he went from first to 5th and barely held on for that. Something is not right in the Tomac camp, but I can guarantee it's not hs fitness. That never was an issue for him, I can't see that changing. His bike looked horrible in the whoops.

I've never thought a Tomac would have a fitness problem but Eli looks to be lacking a little something in that area. After his heat, he looked a little taxed and about lap 10 he lost a bit. Still getting up to speed? Shoulders bothering him? Mono? Nothing? That Kawi sucked in the whoops for sure though.

I was thinking about this. I think it just shows how knarly the athletes are. You know Tomac has desire, you assume he has put in all the work he's been able. You know he has the training knowledge with his dad.

It looks like he's getting his setup a lot closer to where he likes. I think he just hasn't got his base fitness back completely, where all the guys he's competing against have their base and are just in the maintain mode. Also with a race every weekend it's hard to work on your base without burning out.

I'm thinking he'll slowly race himself into shape before the Nats. (kinda hard in 20 laps SX mains tho). I don't expect him to dominate like last year, but I'll be surprised if he's not in the points leads at some time during the season if not at the end.

Fighting the bike will cause you to expend more energy than your body has.
Bro, reality and common sense just kills the mood around here. If you want to fit in just shoot from the hip and say the first thought that comes to your mind. Also, never change your opinion once you state it and argue your side until the thread ends up in the dumbgeon even if you realize you may have been wrong. Admitting being wrong shows weakness!

P.S. I felt his forks looked to be stiffer than what I've seen him run in the past and it appeared he was fighting to keep good corner speed. I could be wrong, but I'll never admit it Laughing

No finger to point at anyone but myself—I wasn’t the same guy in the main event that I was in the heat race. My heart race spiked early in the race and I never recovered. It was unlike any other race I’ve had this year.

http://racerxonline.com/2016/03/13/saturday-night-live-toronto

that doesn't need to be a fitness issue nor the bike but just getting to excited and it is really difficult to get your nerves together to get you heart rate down again.

Doubtful. His first 5 laps were FAST. I think he held his breath too much, rode tight and nervous and the race happened way to fast for him. Those guys were ON HIM. I believe that he knew he'd be fine at Daytona and it showed, he rode comfortable.
