Stewart did not live up to expectations. He would have even told you himself that it was not about race wins but about championships ten years ago. He was aiming for Carmichael type records.

A lot of people are saddened to watch what is happening right now. This is not the way they envisioned Stewart finishing his career.

I think the point was that when he was such an amazing rider many people expected him to dominate for many years longer than he did and he not live up to this potential expectations.

Sure must be tough on James mentally. The SX season is long over for him and he is expected to go out there and race. We all expect him to be a podium guy based on his history.

His focus must be to get into great outdoor shape both mentally and physically without wrecking in SX. This must be difficult for him as everyone expects results. He sure must be in a bad spot now, however, I do believe his Team will stand behind him and support him throughout.

Have we seen the last of him on the podium? I doubt it. He can still ride a bike faster than most. A healthy hungry James can and will podium.

He is in a hole but His Team must have a plan by now to pull him out. Time will tell.

With that said I believe 2017 will be his last year.

Spartacus....amazing is a understatement....but great of you to say that. I reckon RC has James to thank for a lot of his titles. RC knew James was coming with phenomenal speed and a new style and therefore had to take his training and preparation to a whole near level.

James pushed RC and RC pushed James....Reed barely hung on. Was a wonderful era watching the three of them in their prime.

If James does call it quits sooner than we would like then I'll take my hat off and bow down to him. He is and will always be one of the all times Greats.

What... dafuq... are you saying! This right here, is why posters on this forum sling so much criticism towards James. It has nothing to do with him, it's comments like this.

First Off - I hope James is OK.
Hard Year so far. I hope he can be healthy for the next 50 years.
It's a brutal sport.....
Outsiders don't understand. One day healthy, One day.....not so much.

Canerat - Pretty decent post.
I agree.

So much respect for everyone that throws a leg on an MX Bike. We all take the same risks. The truly equalized sport. We all get hurt the same....different speeds - same hospital.

Doesn't he ride with no finger on the clutch? Seems I read that here, That would be a good way to crash like that and the other big one he had few years back at Daytona.

At Atlanta he bout ate it big twice in practice in the whoops. ,once in each section. His bike was not liking them.

The no finger on the clutch kinda followed the 4 Stroke revolution. Too many riders think having a finger on the clutch is old tech used for two strokes and you just dont need the clutch with the torque of the 4 Stroke. However, Gary Bailey always taught that this is a necessity more for safety reasons and of course as aide with keeping the two bangers on the pipe. So, when RV ended his career in a loop out... I immediately asked my son what could have done to possibly save that loop out and his answer after watching the video was simple... A finger on the clutch. I'm sure it's the same with James unfortunately... Something so simple but overlooked these days. Much respect for the speed and careers of RV and JS, but it's sad that something so simple could have saved them a lot of pain, IMO...

To answer... I guess he should call it an sx season purley for his own wellbeing.
I think GNCC was looking for me. Haha.

I try to avoid Vital on weekends. It's a 5 day a week job keeping up with this place. . . I like to relax on the weekends most of the time. Haha.

That wreck looked PAINFUL. Landed square on his ass on the face of a whoop. I had a golf cart incident several years back with the same kind of impact. Sobered me up real quick. Probably didn't hit quite as hard but still hurt like hell. It's tough to watch Stewart have the struggles he's been having. I know I'd be headed for the hills after the last few years if I were in his shoes.

What more can you really say for the dude.

He hasn't been the same since he left Aldon.
You know Baker must do a lot to help a rider mentally, maybe helps more mentally than physically?

Anybody heard what the injury is this time?

-Handlebar to the groin?
-Bruised Coccyx?
-Compressed vertabrae?
-Whiplash? (Remember all those 1970's dramas where someone would get whiplash and they would wear that giant neck donut and they couldnt turn their head until Perry Mason droped the big dictionary in the courtroom?)
I think the biggest issue is that he has an extremely contagious case of Bitter Fan. You can see it spreading like wildfire throughout this thread.

I blame the TV show Bubba's World.

On a serious note, hope James is ok and he takes some time to heal up. I've fallen on my ass like that hit and it hurts like hell. Pain killers were being popped like they were coming out of a pez dispenser.

I'm a fan of James and always have been, but the biggest let down for me is that he had an entire year off and showed up out of shape and unprepared. That's just lack of commitment, nothing else.

I cannot ride without one on the clutch and one on the brake,I feel out of control if just grab with all 4.

I would not be so pretentious as to tell anyone how to ride but better to have it and not use it than need it and not have it.

I'm a big fan of James Stewart and Ryan Vilopoto.....and nearly any other pro racer, but if you and them can't see the humour in this one then you're just Sideways Stole it from Facebook.

The Stewart bashers need to chill. A true fan of the sport would acknowledge his accomplishments and feel the pain of his recent bad luck. I think he came into the season in good shape and a little bulked up (probably added muscle to help with the injuries) so those of you that think he is out of shape just don't get it. This is one of the best riders of all time....show some respect. I race locally and shit just happens. I, like all of my racing buddies, have been hurt several times. It's part of the sport and gets harder to come back after every injury. I race locally and am not one of the best in the world. Imagine how dangerous motocross is while racing with 7 guys. Now add the best riders in the world, double black diamond tracks, and full gates.....the probability of getting hurt is extremely high. Just chill with the bashing. You don't know. I bet half of of you dicks don't even Moto. You have no perspective if you don't Moto so be respectful of these guys.

There are some good people on these sites but you have to sift through piles of shit to get to them.
