I think there has GOT to be more to this story. While Roger no doubt would defend Ryan, I really doubt he would raise a big stink over something minor like a bump in practice. There is something else that happened that made him talk to FIM.

So Dungey gets his way because DeCoster complains? If Canard and Dungey talked it over and it's all cool why in the hell does Gallagher have to get in the middle of it? Oh never mind the show is ran by idiots that can not for the life of them make a definite decision and stick with it. Guess different rules apply to different people.

1. I find it VERY IRONIC and hypocritical that of all things Trey hit Dungeys swingarm and it had to be reaces soooo Decoster complains???? Excuse me Mr. Decoster but YOUR rider seems to be guilty of the same incident ...out of control, hit and ruined another riders ssingarm JS7 N
not only did he hit James he hit him so harf the it corcex Jamex to high side and hit his head harx enough to also provide James situ a serious concussion this, taking him pratically out of the series AND its actually interesting that after watching "Chasing the Dream" ep1 of 2016 James mentioned how Ryan gave him a rather strange hug to see if he was injured, anybody see this? And why was it not a topic on here? Seems rather suspect looking at everything that has happened ...

2. Trey DOES NEED TO BE TAKLED TO!!!! I dont care who wants to argue that with me...over the last 4 years he has had SO MANY SERIOUS collisions with riders, landing on 2 or 3 and seriously injuring them Weimer, Morias....etc and even Reed but luckilt didnt injure him. There have been plenty of incidents to open Nybodys eyes and see that its NOT "Just Racing incidents" or unfortunate luck, there is a consistent pattern leading back to Trey being dangerous while riding close to other riders in practice and racing and yes he DOES NEED TO MAKE BETTER DECISIONS plain and simple.
There is a BIG difference between landing on someone and being the person landed on.

"there is a consistent pattern leading back to Trey being dangerous while riding close to other riders in practice and racing"

Yes clearly Canard should either not race with other riders on the track, or let them all by before going around the track...are you fucking serious????

So none of the other crashes and incidents over the years with other riders are never dangerous, never risky or malicious??? You seems to think/imply that Canard is the rider out there who no one wants to race against. You can very easily argue other riders need to make better decisions as some of Canard's crashes are not of his doing, but you dont call them out.

Smart move by Decoster. Trey Canard is one of a few riders who will be aggressive with Dungey. The other riders are Tomac and Stewart. Jason Anderson would if they were not Baker Factory teammates.

For those who say Dungey doesn't make dumb mistakes, let’s all remember Dungey crashed in the same corner he took out Stew in Heat 1. Same fucking move. Watch heat 2 and the main where he took out Stew.

Piss poor officiating.

I didn't see trigger finger John give RD5 a warning for a bad decision on his incident with Stewart which damaged his brain. Swingarms must be held in higher regard. Is there a test for swingarms to be allowed to be used again after a serious impact?
maybe you have just recently become a mx/sx fan ?

those of us who know the sport and know Dungey, know Dungey is not the type set up a t-bone on a fellow rider, he is a fair as it gets

Big deal that he hit Dungey, that is what happens on a track when you have riders going fast. As far as him being told he needs to make better decisions, he should just blow that off and do what he does best and the only reason he was told anything was because DeCoster brought it up,anyone else and I bet they would not have said anything. I think Canard needs to go out this weekend in practice and bump into Dungey a few times just to give him something to think about.
wrong, wrong, wrong....

1. Dungey is a role model rider who makes good decisions on the track.
2. DeCoster is the best, fairest, and most successful MX manger in the history of the sport

Canard is well known for making bad decisions on the track that hurt him and can (maybe have) hurt others around him.

THIS is why DeCoster complained to FIM.

Smart management move by DeCoster.

Canard may thank DeCoster in the future.

But first Canard must think long and hard about the warning and take it to heart -- (not blow it off)

Show me one other video of anyone else trying to jump all the way over that table off the start in that much traffic. I doubt you'll find one, because it's a poor decision to try and do that. The percentages of a move like that are so low. It just puts him in danger.

I watched Carmichael in the Superdome get a bad start on the 125 and was dead last and tried to jump the triple when 15 riders in front were rolling because of traffic and he landed on Degan. I saw RC make more stupid moves than most riders, anyone remember him crashing in the whoops and crawling right into the race line and get nailed in the head Pinch
two wrongs don't make a right.

sure - find some other riders in the history of the sport who have made bad decisions on the track.....

are you saying this makes it ok for Trey to now also make bad decisions.

man, that is some logic

Riddle me this......would this be the issue that it is if the team manager that complained to Gallagher was lets say Larry Brooks or another manager from a non-Factory team??? Obviously Decoster is the pinnacle of team managers, and I'm sure Gallagher and the FIM don't want to upset the King! Thoughts???
it has not much to do with "upsetting" anyone.

Gallagher is probably smart enough to know that DeCoster's observation is not limited to that one "swingarm incident".

it is a well-known weakness in Trey that should be worked on hard by Trey.

It may well be that that one "swingarm incident" was not so bad, but was the straw that broke the camel's back.....

and DeCoster just would rather not see Trey making more bad decisions around his riders in the future.....

which would actually be a win-win for all involved: Trey, other riders, and the fans.

Canard doesn't sense danger well enough and he makes poor decisions, and that has gotten him and other people hurt a number of times over the years. It's not entirely exclusive to him, but it happens with him more than it has any other rider that I can remember. He's far too comfortable riding way too close to other riders, that's where the accidents come from. There are some accidents that he's had that I would are just simply his fault, there are some that some people could argue are just a case of wrong place, wrong time, but in my opinion he puts himself in the wrong place at the wrong time through bad decisions and poor race craft at times. 99% of the other riders out there don't find themselves in that position, certainly none with the level of experience and ability that he has, because they have the sense to give themselves room and be more aware of what is happening around them. It's not like there's only one person on here coming out saying that this a problem, several people are, in fact if anything it seems like you guys that don't see it are the minority here

Maybe the journalist made some assumptions.

Maybe he didn't
good observation

It is very easy to see the journalist is pro Trey and also has some chip on his shoulder regarding DeCoster/Dungey

Did you see the incident that is being discussed? Well known to make bad decisions? Bad to who? Bad to you? Bad to vitards? You mean bad decisions like the ones JS7, Malcom Stewart, Barcia, Reed, and whoever else has crashed into other riders at points in their career? I guess Honda missed the memo since they keep him around.

You said Dungey running into Stewart was an accident yet this BUMP you didn't see was Trey's bad decision making.

Yet here you are talking about logic.

It would be interesting to hear an interview with DeCoster to get his perspective on Canard's riding and this specific incident.

I'm surprised to hear that Canard hit Gallagher in the chest with his water bottle. I would have thought that Canard would be the last person to behave like that.

He is one of the nicest but it is never a good idea to talk to an angry rider. It is not golf.

Guys who are going at their speed on rough tracks, jumping 100feet jumps, taking such hits, bar banging, or coming back from such injuries, are not people with the least personality, determination and agressiveness. Isn't what we all like, a bad ass action sport ?

About this incident, I am sure it will cool down very quickly. Trey for sure regrets to have lost his temper a second. Not a big deal.

Even if Canard is perceived to have made bad decisions in the past Gallagher should not go up and accused him without any solid evidence. Sounds like that is what pissed Canard off and in my opinion that is completely understandable.

Alan Iverson was responding to journalists asking the journalistic questions. In this case, it's the journalist that's pushing back to even asking the questions. Strange.

Oh crap! Don't start posting anything "reasonable". We don't allow that here! Angry

Kidding. I pretty much agree with what you posted. I'm a Canard fan. He's a great rider & seems to be a great guy with a lot of heart too. I do think maybe Trey needs to calm himself (which I'm certain he has) and at least consider his part in the accusation. I think RD was calling attention to a bigger picture than just having to replace a swingarm.

Trey has also come out agreeing that he was out of line in his reaction to Gallagher, and his poking him with his finger...so maybe this will blow over.

Meanwhile, you've all had the opportunity to ask Tyla Rattray questions this week in our Forum QNA. How many of you have taken advantage of that?

On deck for next week is Shaun Simpson.

It seems here that many of the people who visit this forum are very interested in questions and answers from officials within the industry. So maybe instead of having only riders as your QNA you should have someone from the AMA Ohio, FIM, or Feld? I think those could be great QNA sessions. Maybe the head of Honda's dirt bikes division or Roger D. Maybe people who make or influence the rules? Just an idea.

I try to bring a variety to it. We've had riders, team managers, mechanics, company owners, trainers, and more. The door is open to nearly anyone from the sport.
