Cause the steel braided hydraulic line is weaker than the plastic covered steel cable? I guess clutch cables never break either

May I suggest this to shut up all the haters:

+ new OEM bottom end.

Way cheaper than a new bike. Wink

Then buy steel braided brake lines. Oversized front rotor. Vforce if you havent already. And you're solid. If you love your yz make her better.

Honestly,if I could have any new bike it would be the KTM 150 so I'm baised but I'm also on a yz 125 as well(2003 model but not like its that different) so I'd go with the KTM if it was an option.
The problem is the newer yzs 06 and up are night and day different than what you are riding

If "Roger" designed it, and built it. Then Buy it. The Man knows motorcycles. Honda, Suzuki, KTM he designed them all.

I am surprised nobody has mentioned the Vortex ignition... run it, head mod and v-force reeds.. 30C won't know what hit them!

Yz 125 isn't shit. It has by far the best suspension between the 2. Suspension is by far the most important aspect of any bike. Yes it gives up ponies to the 150. But comparing a 125 to a 150 is like comparing a 250f to a big bore 270.

That's not to say the new 150 sx isn't a great bike. Although be prepared to dish out some dough if you want to bring the 150 sx suspension up to par with the yz 125. And by par I mean almost as good as stock yz suspension.... lol

I have a 2006 YZ125 back in Ohio with the Max Power RPM 167 kit. This is the funnest bike I have ever ridden in my life. I know a lot of folks like Eric Gore's 144 mod but this one leaves it in the dust. It's the real deal and about $5000 cheaper than the KTM. If you love your YZ's handling and ergos this is the way to go.

I don't carry an extra master cylinder for my clutch, front brake, or rear brake. Never carried a clutch perch either.

I have a '16 150 SX, and my opinion would be... Keep the YZ, and throw the Athena kit at it. I love the SX, but is it big and bad enough to give up on the YZ? Not at all...

As big as I am I thought a 2012 KTM 150 when I tested it years ago was so much damn fun. Like a 125 but more grunt, can't imagine the current model is anything less than a grin maker.

Im not gonna pick it up and wait for the 17's. I called Factory Connection last night about the 4CS suspension and spoke with Jay, he highly advised I avoid purchasing the 16 and wait a year as the 4CS forks will never feel as good as my Yamaha's even after a revalve. So I decided to wait it out till 17 as he said they've been working with the AER48 forks and they are really great forks and KTM will be using those in 17 supposedly.
Great idea. I originally thought of a new 150 to replace or go with my 250sx and I decided against one for now and will definitely wait for 2017 as well.

I've actually heard better reviews of the 134cc kit rather than the 144. If i had the $ I would just get he 150. Of course i would look for a better front fender immediately Cool

I only hope, but I doubt yamaha does much with the 2 strokes for 2017, nothing wrong with that though, I love my 2016 125 more than my 16 250F

No, it's legit and I'm not going to get into a back and forth. They are on the assembly line as I'm typing.

The YZ 2-stroke line will be new in 17.

Yamaha's best selling bikes are the YZ 125, YZ 250 and the 250F and they have taken notice to KTM's sales.

Strong rumors of a new KX 125 and RM 125 for 2018 have been floating around with the age AMA changes but nothing to confirm those.

so it went from "Hopefully we will see the new models in 2017 and 2018." on 1-4-16 to on the assembly line today?

http://www.vitalmx.com/forums/Moto-Related,20/125-production-models-ARE…

Would be awesome if true, though.

The peak hp on a 2016 Ktm 150 is 40hp... That's more ponies than half the 250Fs out there if your riding it to its potential which leaves a YZ 125 feeling like a Supermini in comparison. The KTM used to handle horribly and not turn well. The new frame on the KTM can turn circles around the YZ. The YZ forks out of the box are better than the 4cs but that can be handled with a great tuner like Billy at Powerband. The AER 48 is coming stock on the bike next year and is a really good fork from my understanding with some friends that have already tested them as well as Billy's feedback. However the current shock is much better than anything out there right now including the Yami KYB. I have not heard much feedback on the new KTM shock yet.

I am normally a Kawi or Honda guy. I always hated the way the Yamaha turned as it's always had an ackward feel to me. KTM used to be horrible to me as well... But the new frames on the KTMs are second to none.

I think anyone would fall in love with the 2016 KTM 150!

75% of the bikes in schoolboy1 at lorettas are yamahas STILL, even after ktm 150s being out for a few years. seems like a lateral move to me unless you just love how they look and want a newer bike. a local pro rider I know has one and likes it but it took awhile to get the forks halfway decent. parts are more exspensive too.
There are definitely more Yamahas on that line but that is a 125cc class and not a 150cc class. Not to say there aren't any cheater bikes though... The KTMs haven't handled as well up until 2016. Now they have the handling and the motor... So the only downfall would be price. For someone with a kid going to LL in SB1... You're normally running with at least two bikes or even more. LL runs can get pricey with all the training and time on the bikes. It's not uncommon to go through 4-5 bikes in a season depending on how serious you get. So the pros of the KTM may still be overshadowed by the cheaper YZ in that case.

However, this is a vet rider that could absolutely get away with a single bike in a season or easily more and have that extra 5 -6 ponies without having to modify the crap out of a YZ 125 to get there so it may make more sense for him. Not to mention the 150 has more torque as well making them even more fun to ride than a 125.

It would be great if he could ride one first for sure... We're all full of our own opinions but it all comes down to rider preference in the end.

Ha ha . Just like the husky 125 claims 40 hp. Give me a fucking break. Cant wait til I see one on the dyno and it will be at sealevel air too for max hp.if ktm gets the forks figured out for 17 id wait too. We have a 15 yz 125 with vortrx and a pipe and silencer.I really wanted to pull the trigger on a ktm since we just got off ktm 85s. Both are good bikes.
