Same reason Jeff Emig no longer does outdoors.

Because he isn't a Fox Sports employee. Emig doesn't commentate outdoors because he isn't a CBS or MAVTV employee. For fuck's sake this comes up every single season.

Fox has Shaheen and Emig for Supercross, while NBC has Weigandt and Langston for Outdoors.

Ralph :

Light the candles
Working the back side of him
He made a mistake!
What can he do Jeff?

Jeff :

They're laying all on the line

It seems like who ever is in charge of who the commentators are doesn't listen to them commentate. If they did wouldn't Weighandt be the last one to go and although I like RC he should never be allowed on the mic

I assure you this is typical corporate decision making in full view.

Ralph Shaheen has improved and he loves the sport, and I think we all like Ralph, but the reason Weigandt, who is simply exceptional, isn't in the booth with Jeff (who's also exceptional imo) is because the powers that be want someone who "makes them feel like" they're pushing the sport further into the mainstream. They're in business so they want someone who "sounds" like a mainstream commentator.

The problem with this logic, which is rampant in corporate settings, is that no one is charting a new course. They want it safe, no risks. Ironically what makes companies, sports, fashions, music, film, you name it really interesting is when you take risks, but few in the corporate world have that mindset. Instead they go with what's safe, they learn not to rock the boat, and Ralph Shaheen is their guy.

Having said that, I've accepted Ralph and it only helps that he's a real fan of motocross, so he has my respect. He's a great commentator, but he learned to sound like what brings you a career, whereas Weigandt just calls it as himself, same as Huffman and Bailey did (although Bailey, true to form, sounded smoothly professional without trying, just like his riding.)

I liked it better when KW was doing his thing during the broadcast. It would be nice to see him back.

I would prefer stick knives in my ears than listen to that donkey for 16 weeks...

Listening to JW commentate is like buying a car from a used car salesman... so fake.. he needs to work on being natural... go slow to go fast JW

KW speaks nasally and isn't a great commentator right now. I get that you guys like him, but I'm not convinced you want him in the booth because he's a natural fit for the role.
