After the newness wore off, has has the power increase and use-ability work well on the track vs other YZ engine mods/big bores? Tuning / jetting difficult? Durability of kit and third gear life?
Thanks...

I have a 345 kit and love the low end. My complaint is it does not run on top. My stock YZ runs much harder on top. It sounds crisp, has great compression and the plug looks perfect. I've ran three pipes on it. I had cpi make a pipe for it which got it closer to the stocker on top but still won't run with it. Eddie has been really cool though, answers his phone and is standing behind it. I just sent it back his way. Hopefully he can make some sense of it.

I have a couple years on mine, close to 120 hours. I replaced the piston at 60, still measured in spec, rings were worn. replaced rings and piston. Also, before I installed the kit I sent it out to have it Niksal coated, did not want to have to worry about over bores etc....

My son raced it pretty hard in B for a year, now it is mine...slow ol guy, took a few rides to get it jetted, have not had to touch it since....I like the power valve set up...

Only ride every cou0ple of months now, 3 or 4 kicks after sitting, and 1st kick when riding etc...

I do not know it's compression...

nor problem with my tranny, think it is miss and hot with the YZ's in general, a guy I know with a stock 250 went through 3rd gear twice in a short amount of time...

Possibly being held back by the 38MM carb. I know the 300 KTM opens up with a carb mod. The KTM has a 36MM so you don't have a much left to work with but it can go to a 39mm taperbore. I think Lectron makes a 40mm. The best part is going bigger with a carb on big 2 stokes does not really effect bottom end.

I've ran the stock 38 carb and 40 smart carb. Smart carb was a little better everywhere but didn't wake the top end up. I ran FMF fatty, a SST and the CPI. Hopefully Eddie finds something.
Sorry to thread jack. I run wr gears and haven't had any issues with 3rd on any of my Yz's. The piston and cylinder look really good after about 20hrs. I haven't ridden another 2stroke that was as good on hard pack as this bike. It is really good on most tracks minus sand tracks. Hopefully more people chime in with their experience on the way they run up top.

I spoke to a tuner saying it would be hard to get a good top end pull with a oversized big bore without stroking the crank, and if possible, increasing the crank case volume to feed the higher rpm demand of the larger bore.

Stroker cranks are not good for top end power....

Timing was messed with, again not a significant enough difference. Settled at 3 degrees retarded. ESR builds some crazy fast big bore trx 250R motors. I'm holding out hope that he can tell me what's wrong or bring this cylinder to life!

That's how the KTM 300s run, top end sucks imo. Stroking them really gets it a lot closer. I have my KTM running at 314cc with a 5mm stroker crank and a 300cc cylinder and it has some great top end pull.

It's correct period. Longer crank revs slower.

Anyone have any success in getting their 325 kit to run well above midrange?
