A few years back when I was looking to buy a race bike for my son I searched bikefinds for weeks looking the right bike at the right price. Found one in TN that was too perfect to be good, but with pictures (in the right light) and several phone conversations the dude convinced me the bike was 100% as listed. Boy he talked the talk, had me convinced he built this for his kid to make a run at Lorettas but they decided to switch to the Honda 4stroke at the last minute.
Bike was supposed to have; new rims, spokes, hubs, tires, brake rotors, sprockets and chain, freshly redone suspension, new bearings, handlebars, levers, break in hours blah blah. The whole package, national quality KX85!
It was around Christmas and I fell for the sob story of having to dump it to get the 150r ready for the run! He went as far as to make plans for us to come up and ride with him for a few days and he was going to work with my son on technique. Well we had a race come up so a friend went and picked it up for me. He didn't know any better, knew nothing about bikes.
Get the bike home and it was a joke. The best part was the "new" wheels where freshly SPRAY PAINTED STOCKERS, cheap crap too. I mean painted it all. Spokes, nipples, caps and all.... Suspension was SHOT.... Choke wouldn't stay up, clutches shot... Hear is the kicker though. The oil seal for the front sprocket was shot, pissing oil... I was so pissed when I called him, that was the first thing I asked about. What he told me blew me away! This fool said, "Yeah man, I do them that way. My dad taught me to do it that way, it keeps the chain good and lubed....
At that point I knew it was a lost cause. He was in another state and obviously so full of crap I would waste time and money trying to go any farther... I chalked up to a HUGE lesson learned... I took that bike and actually turned it into the level of bike I wanted. Turned it into a Barrs Comp powered 109 Supermini with all the goodies! Took the season overall in his first full year of racing!

Only one asshole replies, in text, first he wants to dicker over the price. "Sorry, can you not read?" was my reply. Really didn't give a shit, I knew this was a non starter from the get go. He says he only has this much money, blah blah blah. Then I guess you only get that much bike, and it's not enough for THIS one. Phone goes silent, 10 minutes later, wants to know if I'll trade for a home theatre system. Paid 2G for it. Really. When was that, 198fuckin7?! Not interested. Another few minutes, Maggot is back. Wants to know if I'd be interested in a couple of skids of landscape pavers. Actually, at this point, I'd be interested in you showing up at my house, so I can shove them up your ass. People can be incredibly annoying at times. Still have the bike.
So if it's that easy, fix it and sell it for $400 more than you're asking now.
Anyway, I was going to pick them up, and one of my kids got sick and I couldn't do it...so I told my dad to pick them up for me, I told him they weren't running.
Anyway, my dad drops them off and tells me their are in my garage. I get home...and neither one of them had motors in them. LOL
I called the guy back and said there is a difference between "doesn't run" and "doesn't have a motor". He disagreed.
the calls and offers for anything under the sun but cash do grow old quick.
