Heard rumors from some industry people so I googled 2017 KX 125 and saw this pic. Apparently they are testing the bike in CA and it will be released in July/August or just in time for display at Loretta's. It would only make sense with their being such a big gap between the supermini and the 250F forcing most riders to go with a KTM or Yamaha.

Was it parked beside an "all new" Kx 300?

This Kawi photoshop template is the Barbie of MX Bikes, because if it were real, it would be disproportionate and disfigured.

It would be pretty sweet if it was.

I was joking about what I thought was the lack of possibility for a new KX125 with some friends who'd potentially have insight. They didn't seem to think it was so far-fetched.

They had better release that KX300 photoshop special edition soon. It is already looking dated.

Here's the real one Wink Woohoo Unsure Being real, though, I've heard more than one former two stroke OEM is tossing the idea around of a small bore two smoker. I know everyone on here tends to shred the guy, but if they come back (and I know nothing about whether or not it will actually happen) Giuseppe Luongo may be the guy to thank.

Been hearing rumors for the last 10 years about 2 strokes. I'll believe it when I see a real release from the manufacturer Whistling

Thats a mighty long kickstarter for a 125

It's not off anything currently built...

People said the same about the new kx 85 and the KTM 85 a few years back. I think it's legit.
Now look at the kicker. There is no way that is legit. A 125 doesn't need a 250F kickstart lever.

edit, oops.. sorry Iceman I didn't see your reply before I posted mine. That's a bad photoshop and not a spy photo.

It would not surprise me to find out that there's a 2008 250cc 2-stroke motor wedged into a modern aluminum frame on a fully-functional motorcycle, built by a factory employee, stored in the "wishes & dreams" department of the U.S. branch of the company I work for. If such a thing did exist, it would be to demonstrate to the parent company that something like that could be made with existing R&D. It would not also surprise me at all to find that Kawasaki has done the same thing with a 125 motor. Maybe that bike will see the light of day, maybe not. If someone can convince the bean counters that it would sell, they'd make it.

Wouldn't they have the 2017's already dialed by now anyway?

Why would they have a Boyesen clutch cover on it?

Yeah I thought the same about the cover and the sprocket and chain but as we know the pic is s build. I heard about a 2017 or 18 125 from an industry guy close to Holiday at Kawi. The gap between a mini or supermini to a 250f is too much. A lot of kids getting hurt trying to make the move to a 250f.

There is no way Kawasaki will build a 125, when they have a 250f which is the same class bike. They need a new 65 and that isn't happening, yamaha will never have a real change to their 2 strokes either

Actually not a 'bad photoshop', this bike is real. By real as in, it exists as a machine - there's loads of photos of it on facebook. Purely a home made AF conversion built into a 450 chassis. Are we ever going to see an end to these kind of threads?

The 125 would target the 125 schoolboy 1 class and a couple new classes the ama is tossing around.

For what it's worth, this question came up at RCU the other day, Fro said just two weeks ago he was at a meeting with Kawi and there were absolutely not any plans for a 125 or two stroke market approach.

Bummer.

He did say he applauded Yamaha/KTM/Husky/TM for producing a 125 and then Stanton and RC also elaborated that the jump is a major issue and racing would almost definitely be better on 250 four strokes.

I'll go out on a limb and say "No". And they seem to surface every offseason...it makes the wait for A1 even more painful.

It seems like the 125 would be riders second or third bikes in the Trailors so it would be a good business decision from that standpoint

With 4 or 5 competitive 125s on the market, a 125 might not be justified. But for the love of Mike why hasn't Green built a modern KDX200/225? Steel frame. They would come.
