YZ250 or YZ250F?

Hey guys I race hare scrambles locally in the AA class on a 13 KTM 250SX and am thinking about heading over to Yamaha for next year. I got the chance to ride a 2015 YZ250, YZ250F, YZ250FX, AND YZ450F all at a demo day. Not sure which bike to go with. My gut tells me the YZ250 since I am coming off a 250 2 stroke but I also liked the YZ250F.

Any pros and/or cons of the bikes you know of or any info on which one to ride for next year would be great. Thanks!

I guess the question is, why do you wanna switch to yamaha?
I've seen too many horror stories with the 250F to get one. Why not the 450F?

Man, if you're going to a yz250F from a KTM 250 smoker, you're going to seriously notice the power disparity. I will say though, that having ridden a new ktm250f Enduro bike that a 250f does have nice off road power. I've ridden a lot of four strokes. But I would still buy a smoker personally.

Either one would be killer. Yz250 if you can't afford to do the motor maintainance, yz250f if you can afford the maintainance and mods

I personally hate the KTM suspension. I have had it revalved by two different companies and still isn't as good as stock Yamaha suspension.

What horror stories have you heard with them?

I rode my buddies 14 yz250f today and it felt slow but it also felt planted and worked way better than my KTM.

Definitely an option. What is all different? 18 inch rear, bigger front rotor, pipe closer to frame. Different tune? Different suspension?

What all have you tried? My 2012 feels fine to me, simple revalve/respring. Granted it's CC forks not 4cs.
I've seen many threads on here and other forums about electrical problems.

KTM suspension is shite stock in comparison to yamahas SSS.
The YZ250X sounds like it's worth investigating.

You cannot beat the SSS suspension.
