Didn't see this coming... I wonder who is writing the checks around there.

It might actually be a good idea. JGR just down the street. If it happens, I'll be there.

It's on the schedule. Will it be Assen style? Or more like Qatar?

You're exactly right Jefro98... Bruton Smith owns like 7-8 of the Nascar tracks currently raced at and I'm sure writing a check to host a GP at his baby (Charlotte MS) was chump change compared to what it is in the Nascar world. I know it sounds crazy, but I could actually see a reasonable attendance show up for this race. With countless amenities surrounding the track along with downtown Charlotte 15-20 mins south of the Speedway, taking care of the riders and spectators should not be a problem.

Wow, I will be attending for sure.

We have one close race with the National at Budds Creek, Maryland but nothing else.

They should have done this at Indianapolis motor speedway. They just lost their Moto Gp. And the have tons of grass in the infield and a golf course to tear up to make a nice motocross track. And it is only 45min from my house...LOL

Two USGP's? are they going to blame the USA based riders when the attendance won't cover expenses ?

it all sounds great but even Glen Helen had a dismal turn out.

For the first time in probably 10 years they will have more than 42 in at least one class. Watch.

As long as there's no entry fee still

I was there for last weekends NASCAR race. Given the lack of elevation change, I would say CMS's main qualification is it has a nice parking lot.

Conspiracy Theory: FIM gives the US a sx style GP, which makes a ton of US riders want to race it in attempt to get more US riders to ride full time in the GP....this goes hand in hand with the theory of them suspending js7 for so long in attempt to get people to loose interest in the US racing and follow MXGP since poto was racing it.

Stamp it.

In person attendance may be down, but I'd like to see the number that paid for livestreaming it. The USGP was sick asf, IMO. It doesn't matter how they get the money, just as long as its flowing in they'll keep coming.

No. There will be plenty of red clay though. If it turns out to be a muddier like the last SX there back in the '90's, Bruton will not be a happy camper! Smile

Writing the check may or may not have been smaller: the difference will be the number of people in NC willing to pay to go see Europeans ride MX versus Cowboys driving in circles.

I hope you're right and I am wrong but I predict a lot of empty seats.

Now that I think about it didn't Charlotte get dropped from the SX schedule due to poor attendance ?

it did get dropped but i think it has more to do with no indoor facility big enough. the panthers stadium doesn't have a roof and the weather there is hard to call.

I'm shocked at the attendance in view of how much industry support the USGP got from some key individuals in US MX (insert sarcasm emoticon)

Using the logic I hear today Lackey or LaPorte would have never gone to Europe.....today it is all about money but back then it was about the stars and stripes.
