Love the team look! Not wild about so much white, but for them, it looks good. It's just HARD to keep clean.

Haha.. Im not goin crazy over the discount part, it is what it is. But I believe (we dont carry No Fear So Im assuming) No Fear is Tiered just like Fox, different tiers get better prices as you buy more.

And the only part of the retail thing that sucks, is like mentioned before, This is practically the only industry where people just expect a discount. How many people that bug you about 10% on a jersey go down to their local grocery store and ask for 10% on skittles just because? My view is loyalty is rewarded with better prices. : )

I think that, showing my age here, we - the industry - have brought most of this on.
In 1975 I was a beginner rider and my local shop gave me 10% off everything. This was the beginning of a "DISCOUNT RACER"....

I agree with you... not trying to argue, but someone is making a huge profit.. and it's at the expense of the dealers IMO.

I don't know how any local dealer competes with the net. Tough business for sure.

Looks good but nothing to write home about.

I like Scott goggles

Boot, not sure. Always wanted to try out a pair. Scott should do a nationwide boot camp like Fox does with thier boots.

The manufacturers aren't making the huge profit's you guys are making them out to. After discounting it to sell to the dealer (few dealers pay "dealer cost"), paying for the shipping to the dealer (most dealers insist/qualify for free freight), paying the salesmen's commission on the sale, paying the warehouse to pull, pack and ship the order, the clothing manufacturer is lucky to make about 35-40 % profit on the clothing.

No one in the chain is making a "huge profit", they all make their 35% or so.

hopefully they are made better than the MSR stuff... i got a set of pants and a jersey... pants lasted one washing before the liner came apart! so needless to say i wont be getting MSR stuff anytime soon...

The boots are made of plastic, and feel like it too. If you move around on the bike much the middle strap hooks into the frame, side panels etc and eventually tears. I've seen them at cycle gears $200 off their original price.

The gear is good stuff. My son has worn it for the last year and has opted to wear it for 2009 as well. Is hard wearing and doesn't fall apart .

Not different from the rest as far as aesthetic and look. One more brand trying to get one very thin slice of the very small pie that is the over-loaded gear market. Scott is going to need a big advertising budget... Or will the name recognition be sufficient...

I like the team look... gear,goggles are nice. Would like to see some other colors. I don't mind all the white, but sure is hard to keep clean! I'll opt to go with colors... I don't have the luxury of a gear guy dropping off new sets of gear on a regular basis (and never will, lol). Last but not least... as most everyone else has already stated... those boots are just plain U-G-L-Y!!! and from the few reviews I have read about them they don't perform as well as most cheaper boots.

hell ya riding apparel sourced from asia is dirt cheap.... if you are a retailer selling to end consumers, then ya, your margin is gonna be crap...... but the "fox/thor/scott's" of the world have already made full mark-up selling through their distribution chains... yes... even on the "leftover" gear (which they shipped the last of long before it was "leftover")... they aren't the ones trying to "dump it off", slow distributors/end retailers are...

"our market is FLOODED with gear companies at the worst possible time.." ........ totally agree with ya there..... it won't be this flooded this time next year, that is for sure.... LOL...

Your info isn't as accurate as you think.

I'm not sure what you consider "dirt cheap", or what margins you think the manufacturers are making on the gear, but I'm willing to bet you're thinking wrong on both accounts.

When you see the huge blowout pricing on the web and in mail order ads, the gear manufacturer sold it to the web guys for next to nothing, at a huge loss. The web/retailer then marks it up and makes decent margin on it

The gear guys have PLENTY of leftover gear every year, they far from sell through, they take the hit on the cost, and the consumer benefits, but the gear guys make far less than whatever you think "full mark up " is.

Scott does do the national ride day thing. We met Primo (National Sales Rep) at a ride day where he had one of every size boots. He asked my son to try them so he did. He also asked for him to try them for two motos so he did. At the end of the 1st moto, he was VERY unsure of the boot. Felt kind of big (bulky) but they were lighter than his Sidis. He also said at first he was missing shifts. During the second moto, my kid came up way short on this 7-pack section that he was going triple-quad. He said when he saw he was going to be short, he knew his ankles were going to break and was glad I was standing there so I could pick him up quicker. When he hit.....he said he felt no pressure on his lower legs.

He has not worn his Sidi's since that day. The bulky feel was no longer there and he still misses a shift or two but in all honesty, he has missed shifts since his first day riding.

Got to admit they are not the most attractive, slick looking boots on the market but in our opinion, we want the protection. Small sacrifice. After several broken Tib/Fibs I believe we have found an answer.

And the clean up really well too.

Just my2 cents and an opinion from folks who actually use the boots.

If the size 12's were really size 12, i would have them for the obvious ultimate protection but they are way to small and what they call a size 12 is the largest they make. BTW i have tech-10's and SIDI's and they are a true size 12 not a 10.5-11 like the scott really is.

To bad really, cause i cannot imagine a safer boot. They have POSITIVE stops fore and aft, no side movement and will not let a peg or rock or anything damage your ankle/foot because of the plastic. It seems that if i fall and a peg/rock or bar hits my ankle it is always right where the plastic stops and the leather starts in my other boots!
