Why not just try to outride Febvre to pass him instead of risking injuring him, good greef !
Risky, but probably worth a try in the circumstances.

Dungeys past three MXdN results;

2014: 2 - 11
2013: 6 - 7
2012: 9 - 7

Barcia just went 1 - 3 and Webb 2 - 6!

I still would have had Dungey this year, the second half of the season is arguably the best he has ever ridden in his absurdly awesome career. But I understand 6 straight years of no breaks either.

Yeah I agree.

Just find it weird that some people think Webb and Martin underperformed. I thought they both did great!
I think Martin did a lil bit, but it's a different event than a national and a much different track them he races on all year. IMO Paulin is the only guy that really underprofremed (like he has all year) out of the top two teams and they won anyways.

but it was risky for Febvre ! MX is not a sport where you try to pass someone by knocking them down, there are plenty other sports designed like that.

I HIGHLY doubt that.

Not to mention, the guy is in far better shape than Cooper on a 450.

Seems like Dungey gets intimidated in front of the big Euro crowds imo.

True.

All hypotheticals. But someone else brought up Dungey.

I was just posting my thoughts on what he said. Not relative to the race.

Carry on.

Great racing helped by the unbelievable atmosphere. So many riders out there giving it there all, definitely the best of the year (even Shaun at Lommel) was in two minds whether to watch it but once it started couldn't wait for the next moto

If he continues next year like this Barcia is gonna give Dungey something to worry about (never mind the others if fit).

Just a pity about teamGB if only again....

Big Euro crowds....... I wonder if Dungey has ever been in front of big crowds before. What's that series they race from January to May. Lol people like you probably thought AC222 was not a great champion because of the MxDN before 2012. You act like RD has never won MxDNs in Europe..

He didn't knock anyone down and attempted to do a block pass. It was a brilliant attempt.

1.) Some of the things you say on here makes me think you're a newb to this sport.

2.) I highly doubt you're an American either. If you are , please turn in your badge and stay where you are.

That was the most exciting MX race (not counting my sons) that I have ever watched. It was all left on the track congrats to France and Etats Unis! You both layed it in the line!
9/27/2015 9:29am
Congrats to team France, what an awesome day of racing it was, on the edge of my seat with a high heartbeat all afternoon. Doesn't get much better then this.

Also well done by USA, it was a nailbiter to the end! There is no shame in losing the mxon title by 2 points, they rode well and it was a pleasure to watch them preform on European soil!

Hyped for team Belgium making the podium afterall, it didn't look to good with Dedycker having a 20+ place finish and Lieber DNF'ing a race but they came through in the end. Kinda sad Strijbos and / or Desalle where missing but injuries are part of the sport...

Romain Febvre .. No words this man is on top of the world right now. Gonna be interesting to keep an eye out on him the following years, if he can keep progressing like he has this year ... Superstar in the making. Cairoli will be healing this winter though ... He'll be ready next year.

To finish this post ... BEN TOWNLEY !!! I have the VHS races on my youtube channel of the 2005 MXON and i often rewatch them just to see RC blast in Europe and see Townley ride insanely hard, was such a pleasure to see him do it again 10 years later. This man is a hero!!!!

excellent event - what could be improved ?

my two cents Mr. Luongo:

1. during the downtime between motos, don't let MXGP-TV go black, let it run, show the fans, show the tractors on the track, let the camera man stroll through the pits.

2. Bring back Jeff Emig every time, that duo of Malin and Emig was just smooth and excellent.

3. Don't have the event in France every 5 years, have it there every 3 years, or at least till some other track owners catch on how a fan-friendly track should be designed (=in a valley with 95% viewing for the thousands of fans)

Block passing is part of racing.
Given how poorly both US riders left in moto 3, Barcia should have grounded Palin when he passed him. That would have resulted in a US overall (and likely some slightly irritated French fans Tongue ).

Dungey would have been better than Webb for sure.

He would have been as fast if not a little faster than Barcia also.
But he chose to stay home, deal with it. Cooper is the future on the 450!!!

No need to wave you know, this victory feels good but it's not like team France had dominated team USA.
Honestly, it would have been a huge bummer for us not to win it with such a strong team and on homesoil, probably as frustrating as if team USA doesn't win it at Glen Helen.

Hi there Jeffro503,

You know..... I was watching a Bercy SX one year, back when JMB was racing, (it is on youtube) That track was so tight and hard to pass on but Bayle was carving his way through, then he made a pass on an American rider that was actually fairly clean but one could maybe say it was not just because the way the action happened, So... you know what JMB did, he let the American rider pass him back and then he passed him again completely clean because that is the kind of rider JMB is. That impressed me and made me think what a nice sport we have.

I know Cooper did not knock Febvre down.

I am just saying the way he chose to pass Febvre just made him look silly in my eyes and probably at least one person in attendance also felt the same (JMB was there)

Passing clean is great , Block passing is great and I'm with you on not wanting shitty take outs. But you don't have anything to throw the US riders under the bus here with. Webb didn't knock Febvre down. He tried a block pass and Febvre got him right back. And you find something wrong in a rider doing that , at the biggest race of the year , between two guys fighting for an overall win? Really? Blink Dizzy You and JMB can both criticize that move all you want to , there wasn't anything wrong with it. In fact , it added some excitement to an already awesome race! Sheeesh!

I like Webb. There have always been Webb-like riders competing in the sport, I even remember some from Russia back in the 250cc GP's when they kept Velkey from winning the championship.

but in my eyes, it is not clean riding and personally i like clean riding.

if you are faster that the rider in front of you, just use your skill to pass him fairly.

running straight through a turn into his path is not fair and it could bring down and injure the rider being passed which is just not fair.

can you imagine if cooper had reached the point right in front of Febvre's front wheel just 1/3 of a second later - and he took down the world champion in front of 60000 French fans?

Go back a re-read the post I quoted.

I was responding to a Dungey statement.

Nothing to do with this race or the outcome.

Relax.

better idea: lets have a USGP EVERY SINGLE YEAR in the USA and lets find out how to make the other team managers force their USA based riders to participate (Just like DeCoster did this year).

Just having DeCosters men there doubled the attendance and world wide interest in the race (I heard)

can you imagine what sort of event it would be with ALL the best individual riders in the world - all out to win for themselves - on a single day - at a single event ---- yep, it would evolve into an event possibly even better than that one we saw this weekend
