I have been using this oil since 2012. I have used it in my 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 KTM 250 two strokes. Have not had one single issue. I mix it 40:1 and use 91 octane, 100% gas. Also, for another secret, I use Oreilly's Type F Transmission fluid for the clutch/gear oil.

I've been running Lucas 2-stroke oil for about 6 years. It works fine but it's a light viscosity oil so I run it at 24:1. I buy it by the gallon from local O'Reilly for $30.

Most will agree on leaded race fuel, you'll probably get the most votes for 927.. but there will be a half dozen Klotz diehards in here talking about their BeNol like it's the ambrosia of the gods. Every KTM guy will say motorex. by page 3, someone will get called a motherfucker.

Sorry to hear that man. I dont know how they can get away with charging more for that kind of stuff when its sold on the Yamaha website for a lot cheaper.

It sucks you dont have a good and true dealership in your area. I can see how one bad dealership can cause folks to only shop online. In which case, I dont blame you with the choice you have.

I support my local shop, but they also take really good care of me. Which is how it should be IMO

I would prefer a full synthetic. Just bought a liter of Castrol Power RS TTS 2T for 12$ cheap for a full synthetic. I'm mixing at 36:1 in my RM250. I don't need to run a high end race oil like Motul 800 or H1R.

I love the smell of castor premixes, but they just don't burn as clean.

What about Blendzall #460 Green label can't leave that out now can we?

Anyone know what the premix they use on micro sprints? I used to go to the local oval years ago all you would smell is castor those were the days. Klotz Benol I'm guessing.

Bel Ray H1R at 60:1 in our KTMs.

No issues just great performance.

I have used Bel Ray since the '70s. Great stuff! Used in all of my 2-Strokes.

I am a KTM guy and I think motorex is junk. This Lucas stuff we have ran in 50s for a couple years and like it just starting to put it in a 65. It's what we are going with.

I remembered seeing this thread when my buddy pulled it out at the track the other day. New YZ250, smells pretty good. Low smoke. I'll ask him what ratio he mixes next time at the track.

You do know that by law you're to declare all online purchases In your taxes. Now if you ever got audited it would be easy for those dirty tax men to pull your purchase records (from motosport and Rocky mountain)!and hammer you with evaded tax bill, plus interest.

At least in Ohio. But the states are hurting for money. Wouldn't surprise me if the majority states do this.

Everytime I get involved in the premix argument, I tell whoever it is, great, lets mix up some of your premix at 60:1 put it in your bike and go for a ride like I do with my full synthetic.........Yet to have someone take me up on it and it solves the argument.

There is a reason why most full synthetic oils can do this.......

To answer your question, that is a decent low cost oil. I have a lot of friends who use it.

I have run it at 32:1 in my 250, no issues and top end looked good when I changed it out

" Low ash " is something that concerns me a little on this. We would run 2 stroke Penzoil in our aircraft engines for the break in period. Then after about 1 - 3 gallons , switch to a good Synthetic or 50-50 oil. The " Ash " I believe is to help break the motor in , so I don't think I'd use that stuff for long periods of time. I used the Penzoil to break in this Ported and balanced BME 116 a few years back and then switched to Redline 2 stroke oil 40:1 after.

Yeah it's a badass little motor. slightly under 12hp , and a hair over 4lbs with the exhaust. It'll spool up a 28" prop real quick.

Spode…. I am 151% sure you are correct sir. HOWEVER find a shop that is open at 7am on a saturday or sunday morning while Im on my way to the track. Ive already thought of that and its not a viable solution since there isnt 1 shop open before 8am on any day then ends with a "Y" let alone a weekend day. I appreciate your input but the pricing for mst if not all premix brands doesn't vary much from a dollar higher or lower.

Heres a scenario of stopping at a shop that doesnt open till 9am….. IF I were to try a new shop along the way. On weekends most, if not all shops dont open till 9am and even if I blew through the door in a hurry its highly likely the young cashier girl is in a bad mood or hungover from the night before and she always insists at wanting to move at a snails pace. 9 times out of 10 her register isn't set up yet and a manager (who usually has the hots for her yet he's married) needs to help and he reminds her in the slowest sweetest voice acting as if he cares that she gets is while hes looking down her shirt and flirting with her. I get my reciept and am out tye door…. Now its 10am and I still have another 30 minutes till I get to the track and another 30 wait in line at the booth unload and get dressed and ride to the start gate only to find out they are shutting down for 30 mins to an hour to water the track. Now its 11am and I'm just getting out for my 1st Moto of the day…..
This isn't typical BUT its literally happened before I just wanted to sic up my post a little and provide a laugh.

Airplanes which are air cooled use ashless dispersant oils. I don't really know why, but the cylinder head temps can approach 500 degrees. I guess since it burns without an ash, it doesn't form some kind of a layer in the exhaust. I really don't know.

Microblue coating IIRC. Two stroke motocross had a YZ250 (project two 50) with it and could run very lean ratios. Not sure on the premix they used tho.

Lightning 78, I read your post, skipped the rest, politics and or religion at a family dinner is a NO NO! Talking oil with a bunch of MX or car race guy's on the computer will get you well...this. However I only run Motul 800 2T @ 32/1 blend with a 50/50 race gas mix. in my Rink a Dinks

Lucus oil is great we used it for years. You can also get 4 gallons of it for less then 100 dollars shipped to your house or at least you used to be able too.

IMO, Lucas semi-synthetic is a good, low deposit oil. I think it in line with many others.

Over the years, I have primarily used other high end oils due to relationships with distributors, but I have never chose them over Lucas specifically because of a performance issue with good, commonly available Lucas.
