In a sport where everyone is trying to "stand out" or "be there own person" why can't we custom design our $700 boots? Our $700 helmets, or out $8000 dirt bikes from the factory? I'm just sayin coming from an average to below pay grade if I could completely build a pair of boots I wouldn't have such a problem spending full retail on a set. Sorry it just wanted to start a new thread rather than seeing 15 with 1 persons name in it......
A custom $700 helmet would be then cost how much? Doesn't Bell offer custom fitment though? How much does that cost?
I'm all for more threads on discussions like this vs the high school drama styled cluster-F's that tend to be more popular.

Seems like a natural when moto freaks are as obsessed with their "look" as 14 year old girls.......
Buy a TM. You can pick spring rates, Ohlins or KYB SS, you can even choose your motor package. if the 55hp isnt enough out of the 300 2T, you can get 60. polished or brushed triple clamps, rubber or solid mounts. hand built in Italy by someone who gives a shit. Seeing that the 2017 250SX is coming with a Mikuni, that has shifted my attention to TM.
If a graphics company were enterprising, they could put together boot graphics for the most popular boots, since theyre like 75% plastic now. Problem is, the graphics arm of this sport are the artsy-fartsy, starbucks guzzling, skinny jeans wearing divas and getting them to do anything is like getting your girlfriend to pick the restaurant for dinner. I understand the masses may not share my disdain.
This is a stock bike. Look closely.
...in my opinion
EDIT: I forgot about TM.
We have an aftermarket for a reason...so you can customize your bike, your gear, yourself. We have suspension services, different techniques to manage the chassis, graphic companies to give you that one-off look, even gear companies like Canvas trying to give you even more custom options, and yet you want the OEM's to offer custom setting and completely gut the aftermarket. Killer idea. (Heavy sarcasm)
Some companies are already offering a level of custom (Bell and DeCal Works) comes to mind. Everyone in our tiny little corner of the world thinks its bigger than it is. When MX companies get to Nike or Adidas levels, then custom becomes easier and less cost prohibitive. We're not that big an industry.
Yeah we think MX is the shit but the rest of the world still follows stick and ball sports. You want to see this industry grow, stop asking for discount codes and start supporting your local shops.

You really want that scope of options for a motocross bike? Um.....stock is fine for most of us mortals.
You can get springs from most manufacturers. Yamaha offers optional extras like spring rates and other stuff in their OEM parts system. They should be sold by the dealers the same way option packages are in the new car/truck market, but I've never heard of that happening. I think part of it is due to the customer and part of it is due to the dealer.
The customer who races these bikes probably has "his" suspension guy or shop. I happen to like RG3 for a re-valve and I do all my own oil/seals/bushings/etc.
The dealer has a service department and often has a guy who can re-valve & re-spring for their customer. Maybe they have better profit margin selling aftermarket springs and their own setup service.
I'm not an insider, those are just my logical observations.
The first thing I have done with all my bikes is put a 270mm front disc & a braided front brake line on them, factory teams have been running them since like what? 1990? why does it take so long for something like that to filter down to the show room? I know Kawasaki & Yamaha have 270mm discs & Honda has got a 260mm discs (Honestly wtf Honda? whats an extra 10mm?) this year finally but still no braided front line...
Decent footpegs... (I think yamaha is the only one that offers wide pegs as standard)
Hydraulic clutch?
When are we going to see Holeshot buttons fitted from the factory? 2030?
They're priced within 200 bucks of a ktm equivalent model. The gp TM team races virtually stock bikes.
