I'm just curious who that age is buying new 4T. And if you did, how serious are you with your racing or is it just a "play bike".
Got a new yzf250 and I love it. I occasionally race and free ride a lot. Best bike I've ever had. Age is 18.

I am 18 years old and have bought myself a 2015 yzf 250 out the crate. How did I do it ?
I don't drink smoke party or whatever, I work full time so I had been saving for 12 months or so. I am lucky enough that my parents are generous and don't make me pay rent or anything so all my money goes into my bike Smile

I bought a new Husaberg fc 600 in 1998 when I was 19. It was legal in the 250 2 stroke class at the meetings I raced at as well as allowing me to do the British 4 stroke championship. I got lots of help from DCR and S+S racing that I would not have got on 2 strokes at the time, this was back in the day where I might be the only 4 stroke at the entire meeting and people would cheer for me, come look me out in the pits and say how cool it was to see a 4 stroke mixing it up with the 2 strokes, funny how times change.

I didn't buy a new 4T, bought a used one several years ago from a dealer. CRF250R tons of mods clean bike paid $3800ish OTD. I'm almost 24 now and I have tons of money for someone my age. All of that is from my huge military sign on bonus and my tour overseas. Even though I could afford a new bike I know it would not make me any better of a rider. Plus I only ride 25-35 hours at most a year and 9 grand is a lot of money to drop.

25, bought a 15 250sx. 7300 otd (wasn't willing to drive for the deals). Paid cash and was out of the dealership in 10min. First bike I have bought since college, so I was a bit anxious to get outta there to say the least.

I went to engineering school, got a job as an engineer. My soon to be wife is an engineer also. No kids, no mortgage (We rent a townhouse).

I financed my 14 KTM 250SX with zero down for a year, then got tired of the payments and paid it off (4.8% interest got old).

Hard work and not being stupid with money pays off.

I'm 21, bought a brand new Husky FC 250 for $6500 OTD cash. I am a full time student that works 25-30 hours during the school year, and comes back to the farm in the summer. My last pay period was 195 hours. I work hard for everything I own and riding is a priority for me, so I pinch pennies where I can and live within my limits. I drive a $2,000 pickup and have plenty through the year for rent, tuition, food and riding. I do not drink, and I do not make any purchases without first planning it out. People think that having money or nice toys is some magic trick or that mom and dad must help me. It is a pretty simple equation. Work hard, save your money and enjoy it on the things you love.

Bought one of the first 100 14 yz450's at 22 in 2013. Unfortunately the bike has sat for almost a year due to an injury. Rode twice a month and raced 4 times before getting hurt at work though.

During the summer? Almost never unless I work nights. Then I just skip the whole sleeping thing and ride that day. I spend most of my summer looking forward to the school year when I get out to ride 2-3x a week.

Or commercial fishing...it is rare and virtually impossible to work those kind of hours, esp if commuting is involved. When you live and work at the same location or work on a boat offshore, it is more believable. When the goal is to purchase a new bike, then it becomes even more believable. 17hrs/day X 14 days=238hrs...try that on the ocean. 18-20 hour days not uncommon.

Good for you man, I basically do the same thing, with the exception of the farm. Go to work, go to school, make priorities, and ride in between.

Drugs and alcohol comment in my above post was sarcasm, at least most of the time.

Harvesting we are a 5,500 acre grass seed farm mainly. Cool to see others in here doing things the way I do! Most just think I'm crazy. Very few quite grasp what it means to give up everything for work. Or what a 20 hour day feels like. It's motivating to see other young guys in here who still value hard work. And thank you for the kind comments from those I assume are a bit older and wiser than us!

I buy a new 4T 450 every season, this year was Honda (damn good bike despite what some think), next year is Kawasaki ....normally I test them all before buying but I am making an exception for 2016. (not because I don't want a Honda again, but because I like the sound of the new Kawasaki 450, can always swap back to the Honda as a backup bike)

Damn, was really hoping the kid had a solid work ethic behind him ( off the track that is ) and payed for his stuff straight up.

I, in no way shape or form am trying to seem better that anyone else with my next statement....With that being said however..

I am 24 and have been working since I was 13. At the time in CA it was legal for a 13 year old to work 3 4-hour shifts monday though friday, and 2 full days on the weekend. I use to ride my bike to the local pizza place in my town, meanwhile I was racing competitively the entire time. My family was fairly well off at the time, but I liked the idea of making my own money and not having to ask my parents for much....fact is when you work before you can drive, you can save a shit ton of money, the type of money to where you can buy your own bike.

Good luck to you dude, but remember to have some sort of back up plan if it doesn't work for you. Once you hit your 20's it will be tough to get any really job without prior work experience.

In America. 4 Stroke = 4 Stroke... I am one of the people who find 2 T and 4 T as ignorant as calling your girl " BAE ". look up that definition...gpracer, I agree with ya.
