Motocross has it's eras. Always has.

Hannah and his competitors

David Bailey, Rick Johnson, Jeff Ward, Jeff Stanton, etc.

Mcgrath, Emig, etc. era

Carmichael, Bubba, Reed, Windham, Laracco, etc. era

Now we are in a transition to the next. As of right now it looks like Dungey, Tomac, etc. era but there are just so many injuries we are kind of all over the place. So many riders out.

Kind of makes you wonder which riders will be the next big thing.

Depends, the current 450 era may stretch a few more years IF:

Villo comes back

Bubba comes back and goes well

Chad goes well in SX next season

Otherwise the next 2 years will be the Dungey / Tomac era feat. K-Roc & BamBam

(IMO the next 450 era will be Martin, AC, Webb, Herlings, Moose-can & Tomac if he is still racing)

MM(25) is 3 years older than Tomac(22)and the same age as Dungey(25)... JMart(21) is only 1 year younger than Tomac and the same age as KRoc(21). Do you have any clue to what your talking about?

I've heard rumours dungey only wants to do two more years. Also who knows how tomacs shoulders will turn out. James is 30 this year too.

Age is irrelevant I think.

Chances are Dungey will retire before Tomac.

Unless Marvins wrist stops him from racing I cant imagine him retiring within the next 4 years.

Short does well for his age but he seems to fade after holeshots & good starts. Is that just from lack of training? Age. Time catches up with everyone eventually.

I gotta think Shorty fades because he would rather take 8th place over having to ride on the edge and potentially get hurt. I dont think fitness is much of a problem for these guys in supercross

I think Good riders seem to last 8-10 maybe more, relavent season regardless of age. It just seems to be that way

Curious why isn't fitness an issue in supercross?

We are in the injury era right now. Never before can I remember so many riders being out. Where would F1 be if 80% of their top drivers were out for injuries most of the season?

Prob because the SX main is half as long as a single outdoor moto and there is no intense heat or sun to endure.Wink

You can't compare duration of a race when they are diff forms of racing. I don't understand why people always say it's only 20 mins vs 30 +2. HR in sx is way higher and you never get a rest . Any decent rider can flounder around an outdoor track for 30 mins, but go and try it on a supercross track

The skill set required for SX requires refinement through practicing for SX...it is by no means easier. Endurance is more of an issue in MX and some riders do not like to put in the grueling endurance training that MX requires. Since you race Arenacross, I'm not surprised this is your opinion.

I love outdoors and races it growing up plus nationals from 01-05 outdoors are really hard and you need to be a bad ass, you need to be strong , I'm just saying people always seem to think sx isn't as hard because it's not as long. I'm feel they are both hard just target diff parts of your body

I don't think he meant that you don't have to be fit to race supercross. I think he's just pointing out that shorty is fit enough to race supercross.

I seem to recall seeing you race locally here in MA not many years ago...was it at the Marshfield Fair? If so, what year(s) was it? Will you be racing AX in 2016? Thanks
