NASCAR really needs their own channel, they have enough series and enough programs for every series to support a channel. They take up a whole day for a race, push every other program to later and then they run late nearly every time.

Motos are up in the archive now.

I'm glad I just kept watching the stream. Ipad to the big TV with the Apple TV. All 4 motos live perfect picture quality. I gave up on the delayed ones a while back. Not worth the wait or the risk.

Live feed is a joke also.. 20sec moto then 1-2 minutes commercials and when coming back they show 2 minute document of Dungey riding bicycle.. then back to commercials while racing... must have been 3-4 mins of racing and 30min of other sh.t on 2nd motos..

This was sort of to be expected. The NASCAR race marked the return of that series to NBC after an 8 year absence, was at NASCAR's premier track, on a major holiday weekend, and was the first event in the package that has NBC and Fox paying 8.2 billion dollars to NASCAR.

Yup...they will bump another event that pays to be on and the contracts all allowed it. Even the TdF got bumped.

Sucks...but it is a reminder that MX is a very niche sport. The flip side is that being on a channel like NBC Sports or NBC reaches far more folks than say MAVTV or the other lesser channel that hunts for things to show. The exposure the series and the teams got for the amazing 2nd 450 moto that was live on national TV is huge. It is a trade off.

Please remember you're supposed to be overjoyed with any coverage you don't have to wait 3 months for like we use to.

Well I just woke up to watch the second moto's and saw what you were all talking about. Recording cut off with 2 laps to go in the 250's. I checked my dvr schedule and saw there was a repeat of the 2nd moto's on from 4-6pm today (Sunday), although I'm sure it'll get screwed up too.

I just checked what I had recorded and the 2nd 250 moto ran in its entirety an hour and 12 minutes later in the TdF slot. It bumped the repeat show of Stage 1, which then ran in its entirety after MX.

I always set my DVR to record a couple of hours more when what I want to see follows a live, major event.

Hope MXSports got their money back if they pay to put these on TV....I pay too much for DirectTV, the only thing I really watch is moto and maybe a couple of home improvement shows or some Discovery. Plus 1st motos on Mav suck to watch as they are in standard def. Think I'm done with this pay TV, would've tapped out much earlier but I live in BFE and internet service sucks so can't really watch streaming video. Guess I just live with 2 minute high lite clips of what happened....

I agree. It's own channel that's 24/7 NASCAR and nothing else. Practice, races, post-shows, whatever. That way the rest of us with IQ's above 74 don't have to miss sporting events where actual athletes do more than just turn left for 4 hours while Benny Parsons drones on about God-knows-what

EXACTLY!
Some of us don't have internet coverage to watch the archives, the reason we pay for TV that is supposed to show this

I hate to say this but MXGP has better TV coverage in the U.S. than our own series.

That is just sad.

The live coverage isn't the only thing better at the MXGPs.
Better camera angles, live go-pro feeds from multiple riders, better stats inlay on the feeds, and honestly.. as a red blooded American.. the announcing is as good if not a little better than what we have stateside.

But most of all I paid my $80 bucks or so last year and watch every single race including MXdN commercial free, no interruptions at all, over a HD stream. Plus I get free access to the EMX 300 and 125 races (yep they race two stroke classes in Europe too).

I get NASCAR gets more viewers, even probably a show where Ryan Newman is fishing. NBC is a business at the end of the day and our sport gets dismal TV ratings but then why even show motocross??
It seems like they could be making more money showing something else by the way Nationals get discarded like they are repeats of a 90s sitcom.

Is it an absolute certainty that MX Sports pays to have the motos broadcast on TV? Apparently Feld no longer pays to have the SX races broadcast, based on the info in a recent thread. I was unhappy about the situation also, but remembered the praise that DC heaps on NBC, so I refrained from posting my thoughts when we were shown Ryan Newman fishing, instead of moto 2 for the 250s. Maybe, with NBC's help, we might get to watch BamBam or Dungey fishing some day in the future, or perhaps a half hour pre-race show on live TV.

I have given up chasing this shit on TV, if I think about it and I open my dvr menu and it's there I watch it, if not oh well. Even if it is there the coverage is shit. Dungey and Barcia are going at it, and they show a replay of the start? WTF? The start was 15mins ago who gives a shit. I know I am in the minority on this one, but I can't stand Jason Wiegandt, Grant Langston is good though, he makes up for Jasons akwardness. I didn't get the 2nd motos recorded at all, and don't see them in the guide at all. But wait, I should be grateful that I don't have to read about it in a mag a month or two later? Well that was less stressful than this shit for sure. It has rained for the last 7 days, and I haven't rode my bikes in a month, but somehow I feel a little better now. Wink

I put my stopwatch on the second 450 moto and out of the 30mins +2 laps we got to see 22 minutes of actual race coverage.

I am kind of glad I went on to Vital, signed up to vent about this because while I was on we were notified that the race was finally on without watching more crashcar. Turned out to be one of the best and most competitive races of the year! Thanks Vital guys and gals!
