Looked like he had it beat for about a year or so, then the damn stuff came back. He was living proof you could be a kind , good hearted guy while being truly badass.

Way back in 01' , 02 ', 03' some wheres , when a bunch of us used to race Motocross madness , that's how I became friends with Rich cain ( RC16 ) and it's through him and those late , crazy racing nights on how I met OC as well. RC got me on over to FD to check it out ( never been on a message board before ). So I go to check it for a while and he fills me in on who he is there and what it's all about. After lurking there and some old yellow board , i decided there was no way in hell I was going to ever post anything. Lots of crazy shit being said and I had no idea who was actually saying what to whom , as I didn't know anyone. Took me another 4 - 5yrs before I found this place , signed up and started posting.

Sorry not read whole thread but TFS Steve Bruhn was the standout guy, first mx insider reporting direct fron the pits. How we miss that guy and his humour.
Still have a NASA pin he gave me at Lommel MXDN 2012 I will always cherish.

Ronron board called us a bunch of salty old bastards.

In 2000 I was at the watt road mx in Knoxville,it was the only megaseries round ever run there. Some guy rolls in with my number,351,and a plain white helmet. It rained a flood the night before so conditions were hillbilly prime.

I spun everyone like a cartoon character as I charged by and then read a post about the race on freshdirt. It was teggers that had my number . We became good friends in the years after and it also got me to join the board and start the "hillbilly351" legend.

I started with MD and MT around 2002. Followed Steve to Vital in 2006. I used to sit and cringe when Bruhn would go on his seat bouncing rants since he was absolutely convinced that physics laws would be broken if it was true. What he would never admit on the board, but did at moto bowl one year when I saw in him the parking lot by his rv, was that sitting down to load the shock then moving your body forward during the rebound changed the center of gravity and increased the moment arm from the shock rebound being further from the center of gravity and giving more lift than. I too am an engineer and more than once him and I had words in person about the bs he would cram dow op's throats calling them morons and dumbasses. Sitting behind his "rocket scientist"persona.

I'm a licensed engineer in four states and never hesitated to call BS. I never came back to the boards to ridicule him about our conversations, but he knew I could have. I was deeply sorry at his passing, but I couldn't stand the way he treated people that he considered inferior. To this day I still have one of his TFS stickers on my 200mm lens.

It took me a year of lurking back then before I posted, and I never cared for the mostly smartass comments I received to legitimate questions. To this day I still spend at least an hour a day total checking in on what's up.

One relationship I did end up with on this board is with Rupert X. We've met at probably twenty different SX and MX races. It's always somewhere in an open walkway or through the pits and we pick up right where we left off for 5 minutes until the next time. Genuine man's man that Rupert.

Keep up the good work gentleman, I'll still be here lurking.

I never said he didn't think I was inferior Smile I was just bold enough to call him on it in person and when we were not part of a group so as not to embarrass him. I'm not big on that. We became close enough outside the crowds that I offered him a plane ride around southern california so he good take pictures of the tracks and practice tracks from a different perspective so he could write an article about it. He soon when off on his "absolute infallible way to lose weight",Wink when he lost 100 lbs and there was no talking to him during that time.
