Why anyone would spend time arguing back and forth with logic like the OP and 2thefront is beyond me.

You son of a bitch. There's so many god damn retards on this site that it's impossible to know who's trolling and who's being serious. I'm slowly getting dragged down to their level.

You're a pilot too? Who do you fly for?

Im not a big Dungey fan but he earns each and every win and championship fair and square.
Its like entering a marathon and everybody else at the starting line takes off as its a 100 yard dash, you will be left behind at first but setting the right speed from the beginning will pay off and as you start clicking of guys that burnt themselves out people might say that youre not the fasyest and what not, but nobody can argue that you crossed the finish line first.

He will loose this championship to a guy with a broken back, now that will be frustrating!

At the end of the day RD is racing everyone who is on the gate, if he has less competition on the gate then thats better luck for him, I dont think he likes the fact that ET is out though, he is probably gutted for him but probably thinking thank goodness cause he was fast!

Dungey is a rock that his competitors break themselves on. Or "the bar" as Weege says.

Broke RV2's will to continue giving 110%, and his other competitors constantly break themselves trying to beat him while he keeps on getting steady results UP FRONT.

Only asterisk needed is they crew that regularly comes and picks up his competition off of the track.

Seems like every time I have crashed hard, I was in whack, making awesome time and riding faster than ever- then BOOM.

Wow I guess I am a idiot retarded moron for asking if he would be frustrated not being able to hand it to Eli or rv when he wins. I never said he sucks, I did how ever say he is a very talented rider. Personally weather I have millions and dozens of championships when I lay my head down in my mansion I would still always think of how I could match that guy. Maybe I am to competitive but I figured to get to be as good as any guy on a national line you have to probably be a very competitive person.

It's easy to say that you would think that way now. But when you've won as many titles as Dungey has, your thought process might change a little bit

Weege nailed it calling him " the Bar".
I know from the moment RV lined up with Dungey he knew he was the one he had to beat. Certainly Stewart and Reed had his attention indoors and out, but any 450 championship would be settled battling w/RD. It cost him several surgeries and seasons also.

Your comment isn't just limited to RD.. almost every rider who's won a championship has had some main competition get injured during a race series. It's part of the sport, always has been, alway will. Yet RD always gets the bullshit ** crap.

I hear what you're saying but if he hadn't lost every single time he raced a series against RV or looked far inferior to roczen indoors and Tomac outdoors this year before they got hurt, I don't think he'd get near as much $#*^. People remember this stuff. Doesn't mean he should have an asterisk, but hard to ignore too.

X3.

No asterisks, it's just unfortunate for it to play out like it has.

Say ET hadnt got hurt in last weeks crash ..just lost points that moto.. How many mistakes like that can you have racing against a guy like Dungey. Does anyone think ET could have made it the rest of the season with out another mistake? I don't.

Frodiddy I agree with you, I am not saying he's not a champion. He is one of the best to ever throw a leg over the bike. It's just very unfortunate that in his championships it's not one of those down to the wire great battles. This series is far from over also, he can dnf a moto or two and roczen will be right there. But not being able to beat the fastest Eli there has been has to be annoying.

Hey, guess we should not keep track of wins, or have podiums at the end of the day. Championships are all that matter. Grant Langston is as good as James Stewart everyone.
How did the sx season go? Should we talk about total wins? That's what matters.

Championships are about who is consistently fastest. That includes people that override themselves into injury. Riding smart has the best shot at a championship. That said, seems allot of people are already counting Roczen out for this year, IMO he still has a decent shot.

We didn't win the American Revolution or both World Wars by charging in wide open and destroying everyone at every battle.

Ryan Dungey Overalls for complete seasons
2007 250 SX 5th
2007 250 MX 5th
2008 250 SX 2nd
2008 250 MX 2nd
2009 250 SX 1st
2009 250 MX 1st
2010 450 SX 1st
2010 450 MX 1st
2011 450 SX 3nd
2011 450 MX 2rd
2012 450 SX 3rd
2012 450 MX 1st
2013 450 SX 3rd
2013 450 MX 2nd
2014 450 SX 2nd
2014 450 MX 2nd
2015 450 SX 1st

Dungey's going fine. Very few riders have results like that in both MX and SX for that many seasons in a row.

Why do most assume that since Eli crashed that he was riding over his head? Is everyone that has ever crashed been riding over their head? Some people are just naturally faster than others, I was slow but I still crashed.

It may not be he was riding over his head but when you ride at 100% your on the edge and it will/can bite you, Dung rides at a acceptable to him level and never rides past that level, I don't believe for a second that if Dung chose to he could have road at Eli's speed or a lot closer to it than he was. Same goes for Ken.

I'm more interested in race outcomes than championships but I'm clearly in a minority. The mad focus on championships is lost on me to a great extent. [intentionally]

Well so be it the then.
You follow races.
And some follow Championships.

Funny how a few wonder how Dungey might feel, sitting on the couch, wondering what might have been.
Why would he do that?
He's the guy with the titles
The others, ha, they lost it.
They couldn't hang. For whatever reason.
They're lucky to finish half a season.

No, RD has shown, in his era anyway, how it's done.

Then you must be a big Dungey fan then, he is sitting second on the all time win list for 450 MX.

This was posted on RacerX and I thought it was.... interesting...

Motohead279 1
In response to all of the people saying RD was just "handed another title "...

There was just a press conference that RD is pulling out of the Nationals. Dungey was quoted on saying in a press conference "I am pulling out of the remaining races due to the fact of Eli's injury. During my career my closest competitors have not been able to keep it on 2 wheels and stay healthy, and I have won races, titles and a sh*tload of money that I truly do not deserve. So I feel it is my responsibility to pull out of the series as to not have another title handed to me that should belong to someone else."

As a result there is talk that the remaining races might also be cancelled and that the points going into Lakewood would stand as the official results. Davey Coombs explained last night over the phone interview "We feel this title was rightfully Eli's, and it would not be fair to Eli, his team or the rest of the field to have anyone else be the champion this year. We are shortening the 2015 Nationals to just the first 2 rounds. We congratulate Eli on his first 450 title and also a perfect season. In light of this situation, and because of the outcry true motocross fans on the RaceX website, we are also looking back into previous titles and are in the process of recalculating the points. As of now, provisionally, Dungey will be stripped of his 2010 and 2012 titles, and we are working with the FIM to have his 2010 SX championship title given to Mr. Villapoto. Mr. Villapoto deserves these titles and we don't want to tarnish this series or our sport in general with allowing Mr. Dungey to keep titles that are not rightfully his. Furthermore, going forward, we are restructuring the points schedule. Starting next season all points will be dropped at the end of the season and there will be an online poll to determine the winner of the series. A rider does not have to compete in the series to be determined the champion."

Mr. Coombs closed his statement with "Also anyone with common sense will not be allowed to cast a vote as we want to keep this as fair as possible."

In any era, it's tough to beat a guy that is always on the podium.
