I was an importer/exporter, dealing primarily with the exporting, but my wife wanted me to focus on the importing, which caused a lot of friction. So now I'm a nuclear weapons systems acquisitions logistician.

Journalist. I actually started writing about moto because it was the thing I knew the most about. Worked in the industry a while and now banished to the halls of power in DC. I cover commodity markets.

So far we got media, a lawyer and a cop here. Three of the most stigmatized fields around. Tongue . Tongue Tongue
And now a car salesman too...

I work for a family business and handle all Internet sales, dabble in digital marketing and i am the liaison to anything computer related in the store. I no longer race after destroying my foot but have built up a pretty bad ass cr125 that I ride occasionally. We are closed Sundays and have 2 days midweek I could ride if I chose.

I'm a Settlement Manager in the credit card processing industry. In a nutshell, I make sure billions of dollars get to where it needs to be each month. When it doesn't, I figure out why. I also help manage our software installs and serve as a liaison between a heavily involved third party company. The work is alright but I really just want to work for myself or work fewer days. 5 day work weeks suck. I'd rather work 4 - 10's.

I'm in school for Computer Information Systems and I'm officially a senior as of this semester. Should be done in about a year and a half more with my current work load.

Aviation Quality Assurance. My job is to go behind the mechanics, sheet metal guys, electricians, avionics, machinists, etc., when the work involves safety-of-flight, and ensure the repair or modification meets standards. Currently I work in the Flight Test branch and we take P-3, T-6, T-44, F/A-18, EA-6B and T-34 aircraft and completely check them out (after extensive rework) and then put a pilot (or pilots and crew) in them for a check flight. Once done, the aircraft are delivered to whatever squadron sent it in, or in some cases to another squadron if they are short aircraft and are close to deploying. That is pretty much it. I'm tired of it. Been at it for 35 years, and I'm over the responsibility aspect of the work.

Im a die maker at the stamping plant . My line mostly runs outer panels , the production workers look for anything that may not pass and the line boss does regular inspections. If they have a concern ,they stop the line and bring it to my attention ,ill go in and see if there is a fix we can do quickly to keep the run going. Mostly the line gets stopped for debris (dirt) in the draw die which causes what looks like a pimple in the panel. While the line is running i address problems on other dies that run in my line from previous runs concerns.

Left engineering school after a year to chase hail storms all over the world for most of my 20s.. My wife's brother ran security at a large casino in Las Vegas, so while I was gone she would go to Vegas and bartend for half the year. We both made six figures during those years. We now make about half of what we did then. She is currently a loan officer for a bank.

Came home for good 5 yrs ago at age 28 and continued my business locally and finished my degree but majored in Anthropology. Probably won't use the degree, more of an interest. The cost of living here is low, so I work about 3 days a week with my business(depending on season), buy and sell old guitars, cars, etc. I also get paid every now and then to play music.

We both worked very hard during our 20s (7 days a week 14 hrs a day for me). Money and investments we made then is allowing us to cruise a little more now. Will pick back up with more work hours when kids no longer need or want me around as much. Just now getting back into riding with my sons after quitting moto at 18. Didnt have time for much of anything during my 20's besides work.

Architect, its a small practice just me and one employee who works when i need him. Hopefully looking for a trainee soon to expand a little more. Also renovate & build houses now & again. Sell some & rent others. Just bought some land though & a wood so going to open a equestrian centre with a cross country course and jumping arenas. Ummmmm tight bums in riding jodhpurs Evil

As for work/play balance i do 3 to 4 days a week and play for the rest. But when i say work i start at 8am & finish around midnight.

Valve automation. Nothing glamorous and no cool alternative schedule, but being a gearhead I get to do a few different things to keep me interested and mix up what is required of me (fabrication/assembling/calibrating/troubleshooting/traveling/etc).

I don't have to punch a time clock or anything but I get jealous when I hear guys working flextime, or work something like a 7-on/7-off deal.

Management in an oil and gas exploration and production company. 25 years in the industry. Never a dull day, but no life really outside work. Too many hours. Love the staff, the senior management, and the challenges.

Union Sheet metal worker! Make between 70,000- 85,000 a year! Need 10 more years to retire! It's not enough money but, you don't have to be that smart to be in construction and the pay is ok. You just have to be smarter than the Architects and engineers you have to deal with.Laughing Laughing Laughing Usually do most of my riding in the winter but, going to make an effort to do more riding this summer.

You left the industry? I was thinking about doing the same. I'm an ASE master tech and I'm starting to find out that maybe it's not for me.

Is there a lot of money in selling Harleys? I bet the hours suck as a salesman.

Me too.
I've worked for the same engineering firm for 14 years (18 years in the field total) and am ready for a change in careers. Honestly, I feel like a slave some days. I bust my balls every day only because the field engineers have waited until the last minute to give me information that I've asked for weeks in advance. Pretty shitty situation. My bosses rely on me so much and the rest of the office is so codependent on me because of my abilities, yet I make a horrible wage. So, I'm kind of ready to turn the page and begin a new career. Just something different. Anyone have any suggestions?
