For the life of me I can't figure out why anyone would wear anything other than Fly gear. No other gear company puts more money back into local racing than Fly. I can't remember the last time I've seen a "Fox buck, or Thor buck" type promo at a local track but Fly gives even the small time tracks several thousand a year to hand out to their racers.
Absolutely. Fly and Western Power Sports have been supporting the VCHSS for over 10 years now. If you aren't a Fly Rider, you buy your first outfit. You usually can earn enough 'bucks' throughout the season to get 1 or 2 outfits next season FREE OF CHARGE. Show me where another clothing line does this.

Fly is definitely not what it was 5 or so years ago. I've switched to it from another well known brand a couple of years ago and have not looked back. Always nice designs and very good quality. Many are skeptical of the helmets and such too.. but after the face plant I took a couple of months ago, I'm pretty damn confident in those as well.

Came up short on pro ax finish line double and faceplanted pretty bad. Destroyed the helmet (pic doesnt do it justice) and broke both of my wrists... but not even a headache after. I'd say the helmet did its job.

also to note, only my 2nd time wearing that helmet... damn it. not the one i wore all season..the new one..of course.

I have had a few fly sets in the past couple of years, and absolutely loved them all. Great stuff. This combo got me hooked on the brand in 2010 i think.

I love Fly racing as a brand. What they stand for, how involved they are at the grassroots level, their price point which makes it easier for others to get into quality gear, the fact that they support my two favorite riders (Shorty and Trey).

And man have they come a long way in the design department. initially I wanted to wear fly but just couldn't bring myself to wear it. Now it looks as good or better than most other stuff out there.

Looks wise they get better each year, and honestly it's because they do less with their designs each year and go cleaner bit by bit. Not often things need more in design, usually the other way around.

I wanna see the sector boots 7deucedeuce painted! That was hilarious on pulp when they were telling that story.

I have tried every gear brand with the exception of JT and SEVEN. Fox never held up, shift was about the same, TLD was good but over priced, Thor quality went down hill every year (I stopped wearing thor shortly after the Core flux stuff). The only complaint about Fly gear was the gloves, they never seemed to last (my last set of fly gloves was 2012). Most of the time I would buy deft or certain thor gloves and run them with my fly stuff.

I haven't tried Fly helmets simply because I used to be notorious for taking nasty diggers and my helmets never failed me, so I will stick with them.

Exactly what you said. Less is more in some cases. I think Fly was guilty of trying to add more "elements" to their design to try and make it look better.

The picture above with Short just proves it. Overall, it is a well done design.

My main point of the thread was to point out the improvements Fly has been making over the years. I always wanted to buy it because of the support they provided but just was not a fan of the previous designs.

Keep up the good work Fly and I can't wait to see what you guys come up with in the future, hopefully a few more options in that "KINETIC VECTOR MESH" style. I may put some "mockups" together later for fun.

It is clear which gear company really puts more back in the sport. Fly's help with the privateer racer is huge, and one less expense for them to worry about. If you are "on the fence" regarding gear...go with the company that helps the guys who need it most. I am sure I am missing more FLY RIDERS.

I love all of my FLY gear. Outstanding quality and attention to detail. My ONLY issue is that when I ordered from FLY there was no option to get my name and number applied to my jersey.

Fly gear is very well made, retains its color better than most after repeated washings, and is in every way premium apparel with exemplary fit and durability.

Moreover, the company's support at both the professional and amateur level is unparalleled, which is reason enough to run it.

Overall, both Fly and parent company WPS have made massive inroads into the marketplace over the last decade, and have filled the gap left behind by another distributor that used to operate — not so much anymore — according to the adage (and its own marketing slogan) of "support those who support the sport."

Moreover, the gear that Brayton was running earlier in the day in San Diego is the best mix of black and color offered by any company this year, in my opinion of course. I needs to get me some of that!

Finally, JT is the man — the best representation of its ethos that any company could hope for. My huge personal bias notwithstanding.

I really wish that Fly could have a bigger presence in Scandinavia. I love what they are doing and the designs of the gear lines is getting better and better(big fan of the lite hydrogen line).

I will stick to my Fox Flexair gear for now but who knows, maybe JT could talk me over to the Fly camp? Wink

Fly has been supporting me since 2012, and their continued support, even on a local level is amazing. Our WPS rep in Houston, Todd, is a great representative of Fly Racing. He supports local race series, spends time educating employees at local dealers, and is a huge reason why I wear Fly. I have received a few sets for free for Loretta's in 14, and those 3 sets are still in perfect condition after almost 2 years of hard riding. When a company takes care of its employees like that, you know they do more than offer pretty color ways...

Fox offers great stuff, but I wont purchase any for the mere fact that some riders that own it Drive dirtbikes, and dont ride them, if you catch my drift.

Your statement about Fox is interesting. Since MX is kind of small here in Scandinavia no one cares about what gear people wear and there are almost 0% of these so called "bros" that have fancy wheels, fancy mainstream Fox gear and just chill in the pits.

Is that common in US? It's just something i can't relate to at all! Interesting stuff.

But yeah it seems like Fly are doing a fantastic job of helping out the backbone of the mx community!

Got to say tho: Its a lot better looking than it used to be, nice work to all involved, just not my cup of tea.

Fly is still second tier. It's trash and I will never wear it.

Curious what you run, and why you run it?

we started selling FLY about 4 years ago after seeing the F2 carbon lid, the gear holds up well and doesn't fall apart in 2 weeks like some others.
good gear but doesn't have the same "cool factor as Fox.Fox stiill sells easier.

What happened at FOX since last season? RD and MM had the best looking gear all season last year. It was sharp. This year, not so much. Did they fire the design guy, or is someone at FOX letting a nephew or girlfriend work on gear designs now?

I liked the Fly stuff that I had, wore through the inside of the knee after a year but that was a summer of practicing every saturday and racing every sunday. Really couldn't expect any gear to not break down a little bit over that amount of riding. For now though I'm pretty stoked on my Thor gear!

We have a great distributor in Sweden (Duells) but Finland has been something we are working on. I think you would like the Lite Hydrogen (pictured with Brayton above). It's in the same thought process as the Fox Flex Air line, minimalist gear with high performance and ultra light weight.

I was skeptical when I bought my first set last year. But I must say it has held up great so far. I've got all kinds of different gear in rotation at the moment....the fly stuff is certainly not second tier by any means. Next time my WPS rep stops in I will be grabbing another set.

I have never had issues with Troy Lee either during my experience with them, as a customer and dealer. I have always had great experience with Fly. Customer service, quality, performance...its an easy purchase.
