Absolute poisonous garbage, IMO. I think it's a huge shame that the only major outside sponsors our sport can attract to make the wheels go round are RedBull & Monster. If you think anybody in the top-10 are really drinking that swill...no matter who is their sponsor...then you are wrong.

Monster Energy drinks are way too sweet -fucking ridiculous. Drink a no sugar Redbull once in a while.

Being addicted to sugar and caffeine don't go well with endurance sports.

Yeah... energy drinks aren't something you want to make a daily habit of.

No, I won't touch any of those "energy" drinks. Not only are they terrible for you, but I don't like the image that monster has given the sport to be honest, so I'm definately not going to buy their crap. I wish this sport wasn't so dependent on their sponsorship, but for now it's what we got.
Hey what if I showed you an opposite sponcership, like one that offered a healthy alternative still gave you energy and awareness, but no jitters no crash and everything organic and promotes a healthy lifestyle, is that more of what you were talking about?

Honestly, I'm usually very hesitant about sports drinks and things like that since I feel that we can get the vitamins and minerals our body needs from simple foods, but in theory what you are saying sounds great. If there was truly a healthy drink out there, not one that just claims to be healthy, that provided a natural energy and focus boost then I could see that being a great idea. My issue is it is very hard to know what is actually healthy, and what is claimed to be "healthy" in todays markets, but if you were somehow able to bridge that gap and bring understanding you have my full support. Is that along the lines of what you are implying?

And just to be clear to everyone, I'm not some sort of crazy health nut. I enjoy having a soda every now and then and don't count calories in my diet, but I make an effort to steer clear of overly processed products and other things that could be harmful to my health. One thing I really feel that helps me while riding is a simple electrolyte booster, seems like it allows me to hydrate better and refresh myself when I'm taking a break. This is what I use:

They're real hard on your kidneys. I have one once or twice a month. I like the taste. The aftertaste is awesome.

I was a rockstar guy. Now I'm working the night shift and drinking about 4 redbulls per night. I understand the psychology of the 8oz can now. I don't want to drink two big ol 16 oz cans, but I'm definitely drinking crap loads of red bulls.

I used to buy Monster by the case at Costco. Drank maybe 4 to 5 cans a week. But, then one day I learned that they sponsor Lil' Chino. Haven't touched one since.

I second this. Put one in my waterbottle for longer bicycle rides and consume 3 tablets before races. Plus the lemon lime tastes good to boot.

I always check the created date before I click on a thread. 99.9% of the time you see an old ass thread pop up, it is ALWAYS a noob. . . Sometimes it doesn't even seem like they're fishing. I don't understand what they're trying to accomplish, other than trying to confuse me. And it works.

Have you seen the stuff they are sponsoring? I asked my wife the other day how they can afford to stay involved in all this stuff.

If u want a buzz you could just buy Caffeine pills from the drug store for super cheap. Then you can forego the half cup of sugar that comes in the drinks
