2 of the 3 tracks they raced so far were new for everybody and 3 months to set up the bike having KRT team and all euro tracks available is plenty of time, or maybe I'm just so ignorant to find weird that now they are "softening the forks because dirt is different..." wasn't different 3 months ago?!?
What I said and I repat is that they (RV team) did not do their homework properly and begun the GPs not 100% prepared, and GP riders are fast, very very fast.

The GP riders are fast. But it's not like you can say they are faster than AMA riders either based on RV in the GPs. Last time Desalle raced the nationals he couldn't get on the podium for example in 4 motos but in the GPs he finishes ahead of RV. The racing and the tracks are just different on both sides of the pond and it takes time to adjust to the practices, qualifying, lines, etc... People like you need to keep that in perspective.

DV makes good comments about RV's setup and line choice on puplmx. For someone that has won championships on a certain setup it couldn't be easy to convince him to drastically change it until he had experienced it for himself:

http://pulpmx.com/stories/scott-motosports-dv934-takes-your-tweets

RV has finished on the podium in 33.3% of the 6 GP motos he has raced! Desalle has finished on the podium in 50% of the...

Desalle has finished on the podium in 50% of the 8 National motos he has raced!

Not holding my breath, but here's how I hope it plays out.

He does not win the championship.

He has such a great time that he decides he wants to do one more season to get that MXGP title with a solid year of experience under his belt.

He retires after 2016 with the #1 plate, beating Cairoli, Herlings, and everyone else, going out as the best in the world.

He celebrates by banging supermodels, all of the other racers' wives, hunts big game, catches trophy fish, and moves to the mountains of northern Idaho to live happily ever after, becomes drinking buddies with Larry Ward.

Oldrider you are misinformed about how the RV to the GP's went down. RV2 only knew for sure he was doing the GP's 3 months before the start of the series and only met with Kawsaki of Europe 2 months before the series started. He wasn't officially cleared to ride until late Oct. after serious knee surgery and complications. He started testing in Europe in Janurary
with his new team and was not ready to go out and race before the season started, After all these positive posts about Ryan
and his comments on his adventure so far I was wondering who the first negative poster would be. And the winner was "Sniffmorebutts" who knows everything.

You are right then, 3 months time and not a full year, thank you for the correction but it does not change my point of view; 3 months time to test settings and a differente race/start format is more that enough for a talented rider like RV, I still think somehow they (all the team) did not come prepared as they should have.

oldrider, new team, new tracks, and a bike that isn't the same as his Nationals bikes either. (Same brand but different in many aspects) Dude, you're freakin ignorant if you think its possible to put it all together and come out pulling 1-1's in 3 months.
Go RV
If you want to get picky he was actually riding in Europe on 10 October and 17 October, the first GP was Qatar on 28 February=20 weeks to be exact, don't flame me,I don't know all the ins and outs I'm just saying from remembering about the first time out on the 2015 KX 450

Good read, like these style comments and would love to hear more of his time on the GP trail

Of course you would chime in and contribute to the bullshit St. Anne is spewing and throw your little side jab. His data is actually incorrect, but yeah, you conveniently skipped that little bit of information as well.

I'm sure it's been said before in many roundabout ways, but I'll just be blunt. You're a straight fucking piece of shit with all your snide comments and backhanded "compliments". Nobody besides a few ignorant others such as yourself actually entertain your bullshit. I'm all for constructive banter and bench racing, but you drop it to a low scumbag level and you're bitch ass needs to be put out to pasture. You must be licking some balls on the backside for the mods to continuously turn a blind eye to your bullshit.

I think it's a copout to blame it on all the little things he says he needs to get use to. He can only blame himself for not racing before the season started, and not listening when someone tried to give him advise for his setup. Yeah, he's doing good I guess, but if he would had played his cards right I think he would have been doing even better. I think it's his last year so he really doesn't care as much as he use to. He seems to be enjoying himself, and not worrying about preparing as much.

What's to respect? Time marches on and a true champion doesn't live in the past, right? He may have been great, no doubt, but there is not a automatic "respect" due until proven in the current situation. KRT might have "respected" RV's past merits but it's biting them in the ass now. They are headed into the belly of the beast grind in Europe with a unproven rookie who is 27 points behind plus some of the hungry title condenders (Paulin, Jeremy) plus more than a handful of spoilers ( Strijbos, Searle, Bobby, deDyker) ready to dash podium hopes on their good days. Not a pretty situation to be playing catch up. As I've stated before, if KRT bowed to RV's wishes to bypass the regular GP protocol of pre -season testing in competition then they have no excuses, they are so much better than that. If RV picks up the pace and becomes competitive then the errors of the misconception of a AMA Champion being able to ride a GP as a contender without adapting is a apparent myth. You can bet that the next AMA "Champion" who decides to step up to the challenge of riding with the Big Boys will adapt to the team rather than the opposite. KRT will be around next year when RV & Rattray are history and without a understudy waiting in the wings with a full season of MX1 under their belt it's going to be a few years rebuilding again.Let's just hope that RV & KRT can salvage a good year out of this and everyone is happy at the end. It is definately a season of learning lessons for the future no matter the outcome of the point race.

Why are you always so patronizing?

RV could easily start reeling off overall victories in Europe and it's highly likely that other riders will fall victim to injuries at some point. He may be fractionally behined the eightball right now, but no one knows how things are going to pan-out, there are fifteen GPs left for christ sake!

Desalle got 2nd and short got 3rd.... the only real challenge he had was dungey and he lost. let's not bring up the other times the real competition was actually there. A fifth is good but stop acting like he came over here and won. Desalle is a very good rider, and from what I have seen I don't K ow how cairoli beat him all of these years, but let's drop the whole he came to America and got 2nd on a beat up rm 450........

He's also the only reason anyone not in a 3rd world country gives a shit about that series. The GP regulars are a bunch of one trick ponies... of course they will excel. RV has 10 national titles in two different disciplines as well as MXdN wins on every try.

In what world is Ryan Villopoto "unproven"? He is indubitably a "rookie" by definition, but he is certainly not "unproven". "Unproven" implies inexperience. What, pray tell, could possibly denote that he is in fact a novice of any sort? It's definitely not his ability, which has been proven and reaffirmed countless of times in the form of many national titles and Motocross des Nations wins. What is it then? Tell me, why is that you insisted on putting "Champion" in quotes in reference to Ryan? If it is meant to demean him, discredit his success, or even debase the AMA circuit, I believe that is undoubtedly daft and petty. Perhaps you are privy to some information regarding the hierarchy of championships that we, the commoners, are unaware of. I highly doubt it, however.

You refer to racing in the GPs as "racing with the Big Boys". Is this supposed to be ironic? I find it impossibly difficult to believe that this was posted unironically. If -- and this is a unfathomably large "if' -- more riders from the United States, of Villopoto's caliber of course, begin to venture to the GPs, then perhaps we can revisit this notion. As long as it is the exact opposite -- top GP riders leaving the their series for the United States -- I believe "racing with the Big Boys" can only refer to racing in the United States.

The above paragraph is not meant to insinuate anything about the GPs. For those who decide to read this boring and trite piece, please do not misconstrue my words. I take great joy in watching the GPs. The men who participate in the GPs are remarkably fast individuals, and sometimes I feel as if the quality of racing is nearly equal to the AMA circuit. I would not think for a moment that the "Euros" are equivalent to American B-class riders. That is horribly unfair to the men of the GPs, and unbelievably insensitive to their work and dedication. As one Steve Matthes put it so tersely and truthfully, "Those guys haul ass."

Who's to say the "grind" won't devour the men you have listed above rather than Villopoto? Why is the "grind" directly targeting him? Those riders, sans JVH, have all been previously consumed by the "beast". Villo has been a comparatively healthy individual. To believe he will not do well (and possibly suffer an injury) whilst simultaneously suggesting the others will make it through without fail is ludicrous. Why should I believe this? To state things so definitively when only the "fly-away" races have been completed is unwise.

As far as RV's preparation goes, I do believe it was foolish of him to not race any pre-season events. This goes doubly for someone who has not ridden an "outdoor" bike in nearly two years. But this point has been heatedly reiterated countless of times, to the point of near-automatic irritation upon even the sight of it, that it will be a footnote.

I have a fairly decent understanding of why you and and some of Vital are so diametrically opposed. You conduct yourself so brusquely and arrogantly that you come off as an unbearable twit. A knowledgeable one perhaps, but that knowledge is constantly overshadowed by other aspects of yourself. Have you ever considered becoming a novelist? Your mastery of undertones and overtones would prove useful.

Touche,no need to get all pisssy ,sure he may well be the only reason many of you guys across the pond are interested, but there will still be 20-30k watching at many of the European rounds but the world doesn't revolve around the US and AMA as we've seen recently in the MXdN and now the GP's,there are fast guys on both series, those 10 National titles are not quite holding the weight many like yourself thought as by far the best US rider in a generation is getting beaten by riders you're mocking

In the same token,he's the best US rider in a generation, insanely fast and could quite easily go 1-1 next time out,he did it over there, dominating for years afterall

Aren't Strijbos and Searle injured already? And what's going on with deDyker he certainly doesn't look like himself.

Just to pick up on a couple of points,he'd been off the "Outdoor" bike 1 year
The 250 guys are the ones going over there, and they do very well generally,Roczen is actually your "big boy" champion now, winning it at his first attempt quite how he'd have fared if he'd stayed here and moved up to the 450 class is something we can only speculate

The migrating riders is one element, how they perform is more of the crux of the matter,it's apparent that it's. very tough,we have by far the best the US has produced in recent hisrory racing the GPs now,we know he has the class to do incredibly well,4 1/2 months preparation hasn't prrovided the results RV may have quite hoped for, maybe he'll turn things into something else or maybe this is the toughest competition he's ever faced

As for the Source, well take of it what you may but he does actually speak a lot of what some do not want to hear

He seems to be enjoying himself, and not worrying about preparing as much.

every post i read of yours makes me shake my head. no respect. i have a hard time imagining that you are anything BUT a 15 year old spoiled brat that should be working on a merit badge or selling girl-scout cookies rather than spouting off about one of the greatest American motocross racers ever.

To Peely, Haha, okie dokie..... It's a fucking message board, you're suppose to be able to voice your own opinion and discuss things. It's NOT a place to through stones at someone you might not agree with. And yes, I'm a fan of Stewart, but I'm a fan of motocross first.

PS, and if you must know, I'm a successful business owner of 19 years who doesn't have to continually bring up porn references to validate my man hood to others such as yourself. Carry on.....

Wow. I think you're the one who should become a novelist. Grinning

Seriously though, I don't know why you guys bother responding to that idiot. He clearly just loves stirring the pot.

It's great that Ryan takes the time to document all his experiences for us to read. Some of the things that he says that he is learning are a bit odd, like packing the gate by himself, you would think he would already know how to do that, but hey ho. The next 5 GP's are vital for RV, if he can stay as close as he is now, then he's got a real shot, but it will be difficult.

Using "daft and petty" to describe a certain post is congruent to a worldly thought process often lacking here.

Please post more.
