Although they didn't win, that's pretty solid. Some people on here bagging them for being underpowered and slow. I guess not with a few well thought out mods.
Interestingly, Michael Lindsay saying he's heard from inside Honda guys saying they have hit the wall on how far they want to push that design engine in stock condition. For longevity and reliability sake no doubt.

Sorry to burst your bubble but Vince Friese rides an MCR 250. Laughing

Good for them. But I think you aren't quite correct in claiming "a few well thought out mods". Factory bikes are far far far from stock.

A few of them were Geico "factory" bikes but the rest are definitely not factory. But still, even a privateers Honda has way more than a few mods!

Oh OK. I didn't realise there were that many factory Hondas on the line. Or even factory supported Hondas to more precise.

MCR does not make motorbikes or a limtied edition to satisfy the production rules...it is a Honda

2nd - 4th place Geico Honda, 5th Cunningham - Rocket Performance engine, 6th Decotis - not sure, 7th - 8th - 10th are all Proven Moto engines (TLD's ex-engine guy).

There's a ton of money in most of those engines. Bang for the buck for Supercross, I'd be on the Yamaha right now. You have to make up 4HP with the Honda just to be on par with the Yamaha, let alone the torque that Yamaha puts out.

So are you saying that Mike Alessi rides a Honda also and not an MCR450? I'm so confused... Dizzy

Decotis is sponsored by a Harley dealer so I'm pretty sure he has a big v-twin shoehorned into that chassis. He is pretty lucky that the AMA has not busted him during tech inspection yet.

No, Harley's just paying off the promoter to run an engine that's 2 to 3 times bigger than anything else they race again. Just like they do in every damn series they ever play in. Laughing

Decotis uses TLR motors last I knew. So again, very good power out of that motor.

Sounds right, I actually think that's what Vince Friese is running this year as well.

I believe Kyle Peters is also running a Rocket Performance engine.

Kyle was going to on his own deal, but now he's on the MotoSport/Crossland team.

Since he pays for his own stuff the team gave him s choice. He chose the Rocket engine.

I should have put a sarcasm tab on my quote and added a bit more detail then "a few well thought out mods" perhaps but the point I was making was those things aren't as slow as someone was making out recently and are still competitive once worked on, especially by someone who knows what they're doing.

And I definitely agree with you on the points about the Yamaha. They are the newest design and the lengths Yamaha went to such as offset crank, reverse cylinder head with straight intake to ensure maximum horsepower is commendable, and the others will have to follow suit or come up with something else that is just as effective.

Also thanks for letting us know who built the engines. Appreciate your inside info.

yeap, put him on a red, yellow, green or blue bike and he would still be winning.
