RV is a great sand rider, he is the one who will be giving out the "riding school" come Lommel.

Dungey, RV main competetion for last few years was 2 min back.
Caroli was on cruise control,Herlings great run after crash and Ac was pacing the race.

So Dungey cant ride sand fast. WTF are you getting at? You don't think RD could not run AC pace at other tracks besides this shitty ass sand track? Let me tell you something son. I know AC rest his balls on your face, cause he is all you talk about. But these Euros tacks are fucking shitty. Hardly no jumps, no whoops at all, Berms? WTF is that right? Im not impressed at all. The Euro tracks are pretty much the same as they were 30 years ago. Tell AC to grow a pair and come race over here.

Well.....I am as patriotic as they come , but I am not going to doubt for one second the sand skills AC has. The guy is just plain and simple a friggin' animal in the sand. Like I said before......when we get to Lommel , I'm hoping RV can score a 2nd - 5th place and at least score some good points. RV beating AC at Lommel......I just don't see it happening unless something drastic happens to AC.

All I ever hear from the Euro crowd is sand track this, sand track that, wait till we get to the big boy GP sand tracks, yada, yada, fucking yada and the supposed superior ability over US riders. You Euros better pray to sweet baby Jesus RV doesn't put in a win at Lommel otherwise you bastards will never hear the end of it.

It will be fun to find out. Valkenswaard will give some idea on what he does in sand.

RV will have his shit together and be faster come Lommel. I wouldn't be surprised if he wins. Another 3 rounds and RV will be back to old. Here is to a healthy season.

I don't know where you get that, but Paulin, Desalle, Philippaerts and Frossard are absolutely no sand monsters! Paulin and Frossard weren't even capable of scoring good points a few years ago. They all grew up with hard pack tracks and had to learn how to ride in the deep sand. They've improved a lot, certainly Paulin and Desalle. But learning something during your career or being moulded by it since birth... You can never catch up that kind of sand racing. Except for Cairoli, he's just a beast.

For what it's worth, I think Lierop gets even rougher during a GP weekend then Lommel.

He has to somehow bring up enough guys to make RV finish a low top10 :D

I think Paulin is getting pretty good in the sand. Other than that you're right.

I agree, Lierop is way worse ! That said, Villo is a beast. He'll adapt fine to sand and will be contending fo podiums. I see him struggling more at Arco di Trento or Loket, where grip is an issue and you really have to be smooth on the throttle. But a rider that good will be in front every where.

RV will be much more prepared having lived near and ridden these tracks more than Dungey or any of the yanks that competed at the MXoN a few years ago. I would be more surprised if RV finished outside the top 5 than if he won a Moto.

This thread is about RV at Lommel and was started by a American, but I do agree with your last sentiment.

Just ignore The Source, he should have been clipped weeks ago,

It's not.

But in the GPs, where a few different riders can win on any given week, the sand races often help decide the overall Championship.

That track sure is rough but people who think RV has a disadvantage at these ungroomed tracks are mistaken, the guy hauls ass on rough nasty tracks.

RV will be very good. Remember how well Barcia did in the third moto 2012 mxdn? He only had a couple weeks time too. RV will have months of practice on that track, plus he is a superior outdoor rider. Look at some of the names Barcia beat. He was only :57 back, and the two were pushing each other at the front.

Race 3 - MX1/Open

1. Antonio Cairoli (ITA, KTM), 35:00.015;
2. Jeffrey Herlings (NED, KTM), +0:03.037;
3. Justin Barcia (USA, Honda), +0:57.823;
4. Tanel Leok (EST, Suzuki), +1:23.257;
5. Ken de Dycker (BEL, KTM), +1:29.784;
6. Maximilian Nagl (GER, KTM), +1:37.774;
7. Clement Desalle (BEL, Suzuki), +1:49.089;
8. Gautier Paulin (FRA, Kawasaki), +1:56.647;
9. Ryan Dungey (USA, KTM), +2:00.599;
10. Rui Goncalves (POR, Honda), +2:08.575;
11. Max Anstie (GBR, Honda), +2:15.264;
12. Tommy Searle (GBR, Kawasaki), -1 lap(s);
13. Davide Guarneri (ITA, KTM), -1 lap(s);
14. Marcus Schiffer (GER, Suzuki), -1 lap(s);
15. Todd Waters (AUS, Suzuki), -1 lap(s);
16. Xavier Boog (FRA, Kawasaki), -1 lap(s);
17. Marc de Reuver (NED, Kawasaki), -1 lap(s);
18. Gert Krestinov (EST, Honda), -1 lap(s);
19. Lawson Bopping (AUS, Yamaha), -1 lap(s);
20. Lauris Freibergs (LAT, Honda), -1 lap

57 seconds to the best sand rider in history (we'll see what Herlings does when/if he ever races MXGP) on his home sand track? That's not bad...and RV is without a doubt faster than Barcia, everywhere.
54 seconds behind herlings who had fallen at the first turn, and come from dead last- cairoli was cruising most of that race, put a couple of fast laps in at the beginning, then cruised round most of the moto, stepped his pace up when Jeffrey got close....

I think rv will win motos this year- but not at lommel!

thanks for that captain obvious- maybe I should have reworded it to he will win more motos this year!!! (for those of you that have a really low IQ)

the people saying that valkenswaard will be a good test- im not so sure on that one. Valkenswaard does get really rough, but its definitely not deep sand at all. Its quite hard underneath- more like a loamy sand track, I think RV will do well at valkenswaard. Obviously it will depend on how the championship is going, but if is close I could see RV accepting that he's not fast enough to run with toni in lommel, and just collecting as many points as he can. I don't think he will struggle too much on the hardpack as some others have said (he seemed to do ok at st jean d'angely motocross des nations)

Still think its more than a 2 horse race this year though- desalle is not very strong in the sand, and tends to excel on the hardpack/ square edge bump type tracks. There will be a lot of moto winners this year (already 3 different moto winners from 4 motos)

great year for the fans... looking forward to hopefully seeing rv and some of the other pro riders training next week

Considering the source....RV is a mid packer whom is lacking skills I guess. That chump should pack his bags and move back to America where he can dominate. Laughing

Found this which is interesting,first lap of that race,Barcia did well,he comes through 5th and went by,Dungey who actually came through 2nd ,Bobby 3rd (DNF'd) Desalle 4th,Herlings is through at 0.19 secs

RV would probably be well up from Barcia with respect

Sorry but Paulin the guy that is a "sand master", the same guy who eli tomac was 3+ seconds a lap faster than at Latvia? If eli didn't crash at the start then stall his bike, he would have been 20+ seconds ahead. If you think Paulin will beat RV at lommel, pass the good shit over here...
you seem to forget that Paulin went 1-1.. and they won, he didnt need to try , he just needed to bring it home. while Tomac was riding like a kid who was scared to go back to the pits cos he would get a whupping off of his dad. (Tomac was hauling , but he had no choice, up till Simpson broke a chain with 5 mins left , all his board would have said was 'no podium') ..
