Only 57 seconds back Tongue

For sure he'll probably be up there. But to run the pace of Cairoli and Herlings I just can't see

And remember that's 54 seconds behind Herlings who crashed in the first turn. Insane
RV easily beats Barcia by :57 regularly. Not saying you're wrong, but it makes the comparison a little more competitive. I'll be watching that race for sure. It'll be interesting to see how RV adapts and if he can pressure AC, how much more can AC push in that race.

Moto 2 at Southwick 2013 RV beat Barcia by 56 seconds,

He beat him by 58 seconds at Hangtown too.

All this means is nothing means anything until We see what RV does against the GP guy's but lets not kid ourselves that it should be much better than Barcia has ever done.

Comparing RV to Barcia. Pfft.

I don't think he'll beat Tony round Lommel but anywhere in the 3 - 5 range will be a great result.

The thing with any track , is that it is never the same as a GP weekend when it comes to bumps... any track that is open to the public all the time like Lommel has a way of getting bumpy that relates to the speed of the riders on it, and when they are regular guys , it doesnt end up the same.. so practice all you want but until you only have the best guys on it , it wont be the same as a race weekend.

Looking forward to Valkenswaard.

I'm going to Lommel this year. Don't think RV will get anywhere near AC. I'm looking forward to seeing Herlings lapping the entire MX2 field.

Still better than 1:37 for Nagl, 1:49 for Desalle, 1:56 for Paulin, 2:00 for Dungey. Cairoli and Herlings are legends at Lommel so being within a minute is still good ha.

I would be shocked if RV won there, and the cool thing is we have no idea how he will do. I didn't think Barcia would do that well either given his style.

RV will be very good. Remember how well Barcia did in the third moto 2012 mxdn? He only had a couple weeks time too. RV will have months of practice on that track, plus he is a superior outdoor rider. Look at some of the names Barcia beat. He was only :57 back, and the two were pushing each other at the front.

Based on those results it looks like RV could easily get second as Herlings will be racing a 250. Besides RV is way faster than Barcia.

I don't think any sane person expects RV to win in the deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep sand. But he is giving himself the best chance at a good finish. Those are the rounds he needs to minimize damage. A podium would be incredible.

I have ridden on quite some sandy tracks in the Netherlands but nothing can be compared with Lommel. You lose almost all the power of your bike because the sand is so deep. You really drop in the sand and my modern 250F was like an old 125. Track is just unbelievable rough and devious ...

... If RV wins in Lommel, I cut off my balls, put them in a microwave oven and eat them.

Nagl was holding station ... they had the Nations won off the back of that result. and Desalle had backed up Dedyker to take second..

57 is a lot. But, 222/84 were pushing hard and for a American rider to come within a minute of them with minimal practice on those conditions, and most likely not the best bike set up is a good achievement, IMO. I feel that with the amount of practice rv will have, and hopefully a close set up for that sand, he will be close.

Remember Herlings crashed with DeReuver on the first corner in that moto and fought his way through from second to last.

I think RV is capable of top three finish at Lommel though.

Looks like a sand parking lot with 3 or 4 table tops and they call this a motocross track. After rv wraps up this title he should go win the Canadian motocross series then retire.

RV doesn't need to beat AC at Lommel.. maybe he would like to try just shut some people up... hell, I think a lot of us would like that! He can podium and be fine.

If AC is out of the series, for some reason, that guy might doing the unheard of. But then again, RV might be on the sidelines too. Hoping for a great full season from all.

Can tell you've never rode it. It's fucking brutal.

I expect Rv to be fine, not the pace of some of the sand specialists but top 5 shouldn't be a problem.

RV is extremely fast in the sand. His bike will sound like no other. Good luck to the GP riders because no rider on this side of the Ocean can run his lap times on a sand track.

I have a feeling Ryan has AUG 02 circled in red on his calendar. He might not win but I'll bet he surprises some folks commenting here. The lad has no quit and if he gets rolling and god forbid gets the point lead good luck stopping him.

I think by the time August rolls around he will have a good chance of winning on any track. By then he will be up to full race speed again. I think he is only 80% right now.

Cairoli makes that look too easy!
Barcia did a great job for USA
So many things can go wrong but I expect RV to be ready and go no worse than 2nd at Lommel. I ain't gonna lie when I see videos of that place it looks like pure fun to me. Cool
