Haha! C'mon dude....no report? I'm figuring he probably looked like a fish out of water , but hell I can't think of a better track to train on.

I think if anything round 1 woke a sleeping Giant, Ryan may not destroy the competition but He will be prepared and will lay it all out on the line.

I come there almost once in 14 days so i dont know if he is been riding there more.
But yesterday the track wasn't that bad but i guess he wil be ready!
Probably not for beating Tony but top 3 would be possible.

Yeah I hear ya , from what I know I believe it was his first time there and as you said, if he's already on Simpsons pace then I think he'll be alright, simpson gets around pretty good in the deep stuff

So it's his first time there and he was on pace with Simpson who placed 3rd overall last year at Lommel?

By the time this race comes around RV WILL be ready. Round 15 in Aug, he has plenty of time.

If he can land a O/A podium at this track it would be a good race for him

I think I heard he is living near the track. That should give him plenty of time to practice before the race (assuming it's true).

Kawasaki owns a house in Brabant where he stays when testing in Europe. If I'm not mistaken.

Speaking of Lommel here's TC's Lommel GoPro video. Holy crap this guy is fast.

That track sure is rough but people who think RV has a disadvantage at these ungroomed tracks are mistaken, the guy hauls ass on rough nasty tracks.

RV will be very good. Remember how well Barcia did in the third moto 2012 mxdn? He only had a couple weeks time too. RV will have months of practice on that track, plus he is a superior outdoor rider. Look at some of the names Barcia beat. He was only :57 back, and the two were pushing each other at the front.

Race 3 - MX1/Open

1. Antonio Cairoli (ITA, KTM), 35:00.015;
2. Jeffrey Herlings (NED, KTM), +0:03.037;
3. Justin Barcia (USA, Honda), +0:57.823;
4. Tanel Leok (EST, Suzuki), +1:23.257;
5. Ken de Dycker (BEL, KTM), +1:29.784;
6. Maximilian Nagl (GER, KTM), +1:37.774;
7. Clement Desalle (BEL, Suzuki), +1:49.089;
8. Gautier Paulin (FRA, Kawasaki), +1:56.647;
9. Ryan Dungey (USA, KTM), +2:00.599;
10. Rui Goncalves (POR, Honda), +2:08.575;
11. Max Anstie (GBR, Honda), +2:15.264;
12. Tommy Searle (GBR, Kawasaki), -1 lap(s);
13. Davide Guarneri (ITA, KTM), -1 lap(s);
14. Marcus Schiffer (GER, Suzuki), -1 lap(s);
15. Todd Waters (AUS, Suzuki), -1 lap(s);
16. Xavier Boog (FRA, Kawasaki), -1 lap(s);
17. Marc de Reuver (NED, Kawasaki), -1 lap(s);

Only 57 seconds back Tongue

For sure he'll probably be up there. But to run the pace of Cairoli and Herlings I just can't see

And remember that's 54 seconds behind Herlings who crashed in the first turn. Insane

I was surprised with Bam Bam at Lommel the guy was killing it.
RV I think will have not be so aggressive in the sand as it can end in tears very easily having said that I wasn't expecting barcia to be as good as he was

So what would be a 'good' result for RV?

IMO at WORST top 5 but dont think he will win, any sensible person (a few that are NOT on here) will know that fast guys are fast no matter what surface but it will depend how much practice and settings that he can get till then, this is one of the reasons I wish he was doing at least 2 years (still living in hope) as would give him this year as a run up to challenging for title 2nd year.

I think RV goes into Lommel looking for a 5-10 place finish...he knows that Cairoli (or anyone else) can't win the title based on that one race alone, so he knows he doesn't have to win there to win the title...he also knows that he has a very very slim chance of winning that race (it would take a mistake by Cairoli for that to happen) winning that race no matter what he does, so he'll just get a solid result. If he can get on the podium there it will be like a win.

RV is a beast...but Cairoli is better in the sand...especially when that sand is his home track.

57 seconds to the best sand rider in history (we'll see what Herlings does when/if he ever races MXGP) on his home sand track? That's not bad...and RV is without a doubt faster than Barcia, everywhere.
