I don't know Cameron that well personally but we live in the same area and I've spoke to him a few times so here's what I have gathered from the situation. Every year right after ATL sx one of our local tracks puts on a huge benefit for st Jude's. They gather gear etc to put up in the auction. Caneron had saved up money to donate to St. Jude's. He was also in need of bike to ride I a few outdoors this year. So at first his plan was to just trade the bike for one he could ride at the nationals etc. because of AMA rules he can not ride the bike mentioned. Then after talking to some people he realizes that by selling the bike he can raise more money than he had saved to donate to ST Jude's then use the money that he had originally saved to donate to buy his self a bike. I don't see any problem with it at all. Someone borrows my bike and throws some graphics and a pipe on it that they got for free in the first place and then gets upset because I am selling it? I don't understand the big deal. The bike belongs to Cameron and it's not like he went and begged chad to ride his bike. They approached him. I'm a reed fan but this whole thing is kind of lame. I'm just hoping that he didn't understand the proceeds were getting donated.

Do you watch soaps, too?

Oh, and if it sells for over $50k, I'd like to see the receipt from St. Judes.
Obviously there will be some "administrative fee's" taken out before the donation.

LMAO

Exactly. So we are talking about donating 45k + to st. Judes now.

To me it sounds like Chad is a little miffed that the guy wouldn't sell " Him " the bike. And I agree....it's his bike , if he wants to sell it he should be able to sell it for as much as he can get out of it. What the hell is Reed and his damn lawyers all about? Sheeesh.

This is some high drama stuff.

$53k...If I was the owner I'd be laughing all the way to the bank, followed by a trip to st. Jude's, then to the dealer for a new rig, and finally sending an autographed photo of myself to the king cry baby himself.

Lost some respect for Reed with this one, I usually defend him but damn I don't know why he makes such a big issue out of this. It's Stone's bike he should be able to do whatever he wants with it. Hell, I know I'd do the same thing along with most on this board. That money would go a long way for me, I'm sure many could relate.

I've got to be around Cameron some and he's a super cool guy, just a hard working privateer. Fast too just check out his resume.

Reed is still allowed to voice his opinion. I remember getting a photograph that I took signed by him several years ago. He asked, "To who?" and I responded, "No one". He repeated himself , "To who?". I then gave him my daughter's name. Reed thought I was going to make a profit on a signed Reed photo and he caught a slight attitude. He figured if the autograph was made out to someone then it wouldn't have any resale value on Ebay. I don't know what motocross autographs go for and unless it's a signed jersey I figure $5.00 at most. If Reed was worried about one autographed pic then this Kx250 deal is driving him crazy. I'm a Reed fan but he is a little obsessed with the thought that people will make money off his name who haven't worked for it. In this case he may be right.
Im not remotely famous but I wouldn't want anyone making a dime off of my name. I get why Reed is pissed.

The funny thing is Cameron was hoping all along that chad was going to buy the bike then Saturday after the race Chad's team said he was too upset about the main and that they would be in touch with him then he never heard anything back so he decided to get rid of it.

Assuming you believe lawyers were threatened or even mentioned. On what grounds could you sue him? I'm sure Reed might have thought about that. I call Bull Shit!!

Convenient thing to say after the Black Flag event IMO.

yes, he should of worded the ad like this...

"For sale a KX250 that MIGHT of been ridden by a supposedly top level rider within the last week during a retro night at a possible SX event"

does that sound better?

Now that really would be funny. A picture of him with his new bike in front of Saint Jude Thaddeus handing them a big check for $40K Laughing

They "apparently" said. They weren't willing to approach him about it ATM considering what had happened in the main.

He waited 8 hours to hear back and I'll bet that 8 hours was sleep time before he woke up in the morning and whacked it straight up on Flea-Bay.

This is what surprises me the most regarding this saga: DRAAAAMMMA aside, your telling me that Reed doesn't personally own a sick KX 250 two-smoker himself somewhere in his arsenal or couldn't use his resources to buy one even last minute to make this pretty rad idea happen for opening ceremonies therefore FELD borrowing one from a dude he doesn't know which possibly opens the door to unknowns like this 53 THOOOUUUSAND $$$ St. Judes donation / full race season fund for the owner for instance!?!? Just sayin.....

I am the organizer of the St Jude auction and fund raiser, I have a little insight to the bike drama, I hate our fundraiser has been involved but I will share our statement regarding the issue,
I spoke with both Two Two Motosports today and Cameron Stone.

Pro Edge Motosports
Take on the Chad Reed/Cameron Stone/St Jude motorcycle - E-Bay fiasco.
I hate feeling I have to explain our position on anything but when our name is brought into something that has such strong feelings involved I have to speak up to protect our reputation,
Cameron Stone loaned Feld entertainment a KX 250 to ride in opening ceremonies at Atlanta SX, Cameron always supports our St Jude race and told me he would try to get Chad Reed's gear to auction for St Jude, Cameron did get Reed's gear and from my understanding Chad gave it to him to benefit the
St Jude auction.
Chad gives us stuff each year for the auction and does support the cause.
Cameron said Chad didn't buy his bike so he would like to list it with the gear and sell it all together on eBay and donate what I thought it would bring, Chad gave Cameron the gear so I felt that was Cameron's call, personally I did want it for the auction but either way as long as St Jude got the money that's what matters...
I told Cameron last year Ryan Dungeys gear brought 785.00 and he said he would donate 785.00
As far as the bike goes that has nothing to do with Pro Edge or St Jude,
I personally see nothing wrong with selling the bike and taking advantage of the all the hype, I'm sure a Reed fan would be thrilled to get it,
Some people are saying why don't Cameron donate it and stuff like that,
Could you donated something you have a lot of money in? Personally I couldn't and don't think that's a fair request...
I know the bike has a value of around 3,000.00
And he has 4,000.00 A-Kit suspension so he has in the ball park of 7,000.00 in it plus 785.00 for the gear
So he listed it on eBay for 8,000.00
Chad saw it and felt Cameron was trying to make a lot of money off his name... Thinking the value was around 3,000
That's between those guys and Irrelevant to us, the way I personally see it is its Cameron's bike and he can do anything he pleases with it.
Cameron did say the more it brings the more he would donate but he's not obligated to do any more.
Honestly this is mostly a miss understanding between Reed's crew and Cameron,
I spoke to both parties today, Reed felt it was a "3,000.00 bike" and he's right but I think Chad overlooked the fact Cameron can't call pro circuit and have new suspension shipped to him free of charge like he can...
In Chads eyes someone was trying to make a lot of money off of him or his name and I can see where that may bother some but at the same time that's the price for being famous, people want your stuff when you're done with it,
Hopefully when all is said and done all the Reed fans will understand as well as the local Cameron Stone guys it was basically an unfortunate misunderstanding,
Reed is a decent guy and willing to help and Cameron has always supported our St Jude races,
neither guy wanted bad feelings and we sure didn't want our name in it.

Jude's.
Common sense would tell you, and any other rational person, that this is probably what happened. I'm assuming once Reed found out the whole story and why the bike was being sold, he took down his post and realized it was a misunderstanding.

Like I asked in the last thread, why do the same people show up in every damn Reed thread just to bash him? Make you feel good to shit on a guy who has accomplished more than you could ever hope to achieve? Make your horribly low self esteem seem a little less diminished? I'm just curious, because I never feel the need to drag a rider I don't particularly like through the mud every chance I get, yet some assclowns on here seem to relish the opportunity.

$53k...If I was the owner I'd be laughing all the way to the bank, followed by a trip to st. Jude's, then to the dealer for a new rig, and finally sending an autographed photo of myself to the king cry baby himself.
I actually laughed out loud at that one!

I get why Reed is pissed.

yes, he should of worded the ad like this...

"For sale a KX250 that MIGHT of been ridden by a supposedly top level rider within the last week during a retro night at a possible SX event"

does that sound better?
Apparently. "Wheelies every gear. For Pros only" does the trick Tongue

Maybe Reed just doesn't want a fan of his to be ripped off. 8K for an 05 model KX250. You'd want you name associated with that?

Who exactly is getting ripped off? If a Reed fan thinks 8k is too much, guess what, they don't bid. Do you even comprehend what you are typing?
