They seem to have picked up a little of the WWF / Pro Wrestling model, with allowing riders to lose it very, very vocally, and sometimes with a bit of shoving, with both fellow competitors and Officials. Film of phone conversations between riders and judges can be quite entertaining. I guess they've done some 'market' study, and it works for them........ And then you have an Absolute Gentleman like Greg Hancock, winning the World Championships many years apart, and then as he is getting damned near Granddad status. He's just an amazing bloke.
Yes - if some Idiot breaks the rules, nail them to the wall. Especially at the World Championship level. These people are not Joe Average, they are professionals. Well, they are supposed to be. Ward f**Ked up, he gets penalized - so bloody be it. And, he's an Australian, so I'm not being biased against him through country affiliations. Same with JS - If you, as The Rider, cannot follow the rules, that you should know about in this day and age, well, you are going to get nailed. These blokes need to take care of themselves - and if they are too bloody stupid to be able to, they should employ someone to hold their bloody hands. It's either utter stupidity, or an attempt to cheat - few people seem to have even given thought to the 'selective use' of amphetamines / many drugs. Plenty of people get prescriptions for medications, and then use it in a very different manner than what the prescription advises them to.. The precedent of Gert Jan Van Dorn's 18 month banning was there, from 2001 - and legal matters go very much by precedent - so JS got off a bit lighter than that precedent. .Cripes, I read that soon after JS's penalty, WADA effectively doubled the penalty times for infringements such as his. He might want to be wary about his appeal, as if he loses, he could be far worse off.

Where i live seems to be the centre for Aussie bike racers, Billy McConnell, Glenn Richards , Davo Johnson and numerous others all local , been some good nights out , thats for sure.
