Does anyone know how long Reed's contract with Kawasaki is for?
If this 16 Ktm is as good as it looks can he just start racing that next year if he wanted?

Well, he hasn't switched to KTM yet, and it has been two years, so maybe, he's due for a switch.Wink

I'm sure that Reed would get free factory bikes from KTM, IF he wants to swicth.

I dont really think he would benefit from switching. He chose the green machine for a reason in the first place.

Nope... They explored the KTM option before the 14 season, it's not quite that simple.

It would sort of be Cool, finish his last year out on the one brand he has not raced on. Though with Husqvarna now in the picture he would have to race through 2017 and ride white in his final year.

It will be interesting to see where TwoTwo Motorsports heads once Chad does hang up the boots.

I hope for him being able to fund atleast one 250 guy for Supercross and Motocross and the same on the 450s. I would love to have Reed in our sport for a long long time. The guy is truly a class act bad ass

Why would you try a 250 team... There is being Ok with spending money, and then there is putting it through a shredder, dousing it gasoline, lighting it on fire and pissing on the ashes.

Why would Chad not?

Agree Crush, could not see TwoTwo going down the 250F path without some big time factory support, Big time Factory Money and a Big Big Big time naming rights sponsor.

I just said why.

Huge waste of money to even begin to try and catch up in development to compete with the others, who already are entrenched. It's all motor in that class–So much so that one of the worst teams in the pits is now basically dominant, arguably because their bike is far superior and has met some great riders at the same time.

I don't think he's in the business of pissing money up the wall.

Well said Crush. Isn't that the reason the 250 class is so weak over here, compared to the 450's.

Pretty sure he plans to hang around with his team and the USA for a long time.
Lots of investments in property in the USA.
He's sold everything back here anyway,
Only comes home to visit before Xmas.
Saw him grocery shopping a few years ago with his mum,
I played it cool, nodded and said Chad and kept going hahaha.

He said when he switched to Honda that he rode all the bikes and settled on Honda because it felt the best. Same deal when he went to Kawi. That means he has tested the Suzuki twice in the last four years or so and found better options both times. I don't see him going back to Suzuki unless Kawaski releases a bike that he hates like Honda did.

The reason? Not sure... Can't fucking help tho! Especially if there is one who is wiling to spend the bucks, how could you compete?

I wonder how the motors are stacking up down here actually... Blue has a pretty big head start and their team seems like it's pretty invested compared. Azz, what do you know about em and the teams?

I'm not sure Chad COULD go back to Honda, Suzuki or Yamaha even if he wanted to, frankly. Reed's pretty famous for not being shy about saying when he thinks a bike isn't good...or doesn't please him. That's not a great way to make lasting friends, especially in this business. It's a small sport & people have memories like elephants.

And, didn't he ride pretty much everything including the KTM when he was OEM hunting before deciding on Kawasaki?

He's running his own race team. He's definitely in the business of pissing money up the wall! Definitely. Laughing

You guys do realize this years KTM is different than the one he tested before choosing kawasaki last year right? Similair to how the kawasaki now has changed drastically from when the bike he was on when he rode for the Factory kawi team and didnt like the bike along with his health issues. Also im sure chad enjoys leasing the factory bikes. However since it is his team he can choose whatever brand of bike he feels best on, regardless of how much support he would receive

Tested RCH bike pre-2014 when he considered signing with them. Not sure if they were using a 12 or 13-14 chassis for testing, but he commented that the chassis is way stiffer than when he was there in 09. Makes me think that he tested on 13 or 14 chassis...

Serious question. Can you translate to me what a stiff chassis vs one that flexes more feels like? How does that translate to comfort on the track? In what conditions?

I'm curious because that is one term used a lot that I can't say that I can feel when riding, and I consider myself extremely sensitive to bike setup.

Thanks

haha... yeah well... I guess it's subjective, all the while it's for his own racing purposes and he's getting results, it's not.

When he doesn't get em, or if he wants to drop money on a 250, that would be pissing it away for sure.

Reed s win was similar to Al senior s win in 86. A cold track had all the young drivers crashing. The 450 riders are too injured or too snake bit to race. When are the brass going to admit 450s are a mistake?

Ride a 97 cr 250 then you'll know what s stiff chassis is . One of the worst bikes ever made
