Roczen's painful meltdown

Edited Date/Time 2/24/2015 6:14pm
Just watching those two crashes from Atlanta on Racer X again. They were both ugly. What caused the meltdown?

Two rounds ago he finished second and was 12 out of the lead for the championship. Atlanta just sucked for him.

Lack of focus possibly? I would say it is just bad luck, but these mishaps are happening all by himself. Meaning, no one is causing him to crash.

Pushing. Pressure. Stress. Dungey.

Roczen is mentally strong. He seemed really focused. Just incredible how quickly things unravel.
I wonder if thoughts about the bike start to creep in your head when it all goes south.

That wall hit was beyond nasty. Just a place a motorcycle is not meant to go.

I would say it's Supercross, where accidents happen. Wouldn't be surprised if pain from one was a little distraction, possibly leading to the 2nd.

I think you might be the only person who would describe Roczen as mentally tough. IMO he isn't, he damn near lost the MX championship if not for the mudder. He has a history of the wheels coming off the wagon down the stretch of the season.

Tomac's been hitting the ground also. Those dudes are pushing the limits and not willing to settle, that fearlessness makes me a bigger fan.

You don't lead the SX championship and win an outdoor title being mentally weak. I think Roczen has proven both mental and physical toughness. Especially taking diggers like that. He was limping pretty bad on TV.

The one in the main was a pretty wild crash, I wish we could see a vid of the lead up but it doesn't seem its out there.

Pretty crazy how the bike almost hit him while it was going "back up"

I don't know if there is really any underlying circumstances that caused both his wrecks this weekend.....I think it's just basic that he had a bad weekend. That kid isn't only physically tough.....he's mentally strong as well. You don't go win world and national titles with being a head case.

Like I said....it was just a rough weekend for him. He'll be way fine.

Have you ever had a bad day? Well Roczen did last Saturday night. He will recover and win some more before series end.
Dungey is in the drivers seat and looking strong though.

The championship kind of melted down for him. He's still in it in third place. But now he's really banged up, Dungey is on a roll. A few weeks ago Roczen was holding the cards. He crashed out of the lead.

How many times have we seen Roczen do this during the second half of a season? Like every championship he's competed in while he's been in America?

I have read a lot of your posts and think your usually on point but JS7 is the worst headcase I have ever seen and has MX and SX titles. I'm not saying Rokzen is a headcase either. Just that some athletes can pull it back together and others fall apart.

He's starting to look like Stewart.
If anyone is starting to look like Stew it's Tomac.

I'm sure he would take that compliment, considering I can think of at least 4 former champions that have called him the most talented rider ever.

I would say Roczen going out and all but securing the title in the toughest conditions of the year showed just how mentally tough he is. Could have been so easy to throw the championship away in those conditions.

He won that title because he was so good in the mud under pressure, while the other faulted.

He is one tough mofo.

Heading off the side off the track with both feet off the pegs and onto the plywood towards the wall at a pretty fair clip, talk about an "oh sh!t" moment.

He hit hard too and that wall was the hardest thing he could of possibly hit.

From what was shown of the crash in the main it was up there with some of Stewart's highlight reels.

Nobody can ever question his toughness after that last race. I don't care who wins the title but I would like to see him grab some more wins to tighten the points back up, Canard and Tomac too.

That's what I was thinking also. He's 20 and it seems he's battling for the title in the classes he's ridden for years now. Meltdown my ass. This kid can already look back at a great career in mx/sx at 20!! Plenty more to come if you ask me Whistling Whistling
