I like all of the riders, but Dungey has become my new fav. because of the way he rides. Always in it. I think he needs to master his starts, forget the aggressive passing. He will be just fine...

Huge respect for Dungey. He has a strategy and sticks to it. I think he's finding a better balance in his patience though. He was simply not going to win much if at all by being overly cautious on the first lap. He appears to have definitely dialed it up a bit there.

Wow, good topic! Seems to be a lot of level headed cogent responses here. That's weird. .. just kidding.
RD definitely appeared to be rolling hot last Saturday night. There were a couple that tried to take his spot early but he fought and dropped them.
After the race I found myself hoping Roger DeCoster noted Ryans performance and responded appropriately. Oh, and yes, I do believe Dungey passes the carnage on the track and says to himself..."we are going to do this my way"!
Yep, I got tons of respect for Dungey. What other rider has made every main event from their first heat race under the semi new SX rules besides the Dunge? 20 in a row so far? Solid talent.
Oops, must stop now. Getting too excited about the next race! Good luck!

That Southwick ride was definitely one of the staples that makes Dungey who he is as a rider and person.

I remember I first recalled seeing him ride when he was on the Suzuki 250. He ended up wadding it up and doing a front flip over the bars. It was one of the more spectacular crashes I had seen and he got back up and finished the race in a respectable position. It's been too long now but I was just getting into the sport at the time and that incident stuck out to me.

He was. This past week was a great example of how to race. He was making time on ken till he made his one mistake and missed the triple.

Also, I thought his bike looked great in all areas, especially the corners. He was cutting down low making time. Even the whoops the bike was good.

There seems to be a fire in his eye this year I haven't seen the last few years. Hes going to give Roczen all he can handle IMO

Dunge always finishes the championship in the top 3, he makes a few million bucks a year, rarely suffers from injuries and has a ridiculously hot wife.

I think the guy has got it figured out....

His most inspired ride was when the race started without him while waiting for his bike at Southwick.

wonder how Dungey would do in the MXGP? was looking @ Lommel sand 2012 des nations
AC222 best lap time 1:54 range, Dungey best lap time 2:00 range. never saw RV be 6 seconds faster then Dungey
can't wait to see RV & AC battle on this track this year. hope they both stay healthy. My point is AC222 seems faster then some
think. this going to be good...

Yeah because Lommel is a fair comparison. How about we use Lakewood where Dungey dropped AC both motos. Prob not a fair comparison to use that race either wouldn't you think? I love me some Dunge but RV is a diff animal and you kno he doesn't wanna go out in 2nd place. AC is in trouble IMO

Whistling I bet Dunge looks at the pass Canard tried on Reed and just shakes his head and says,

"See! Thats why I race the way I do. Try to force the issue and you end up on the ground (and finishing 7th not 2nd)"

Dunge has this realism about his abilities , or lack thereof ,to make slick "woah, did you see that!" passes and he knows he doesnt have that sudden burst of speed in him to squirt by guys or make hard block passes without both guys going down. Rare is the racer who is as crafty and skilled as RV, and I think Roczen, to make slick quick passes.

Dunge, just steadily, methodically, placing his way to the 2015 sx championship.Tongue

The only difference in how Dungey passed Reed and how Canard tried to pass Reed in A2, was the line Reed took in that same corner when getting passed by each rider. Reed took the outside when Dunge passed him, Reed took the inside line when Canard tried to pass him.

point made,

2010 Lakewood des nations laptimes

Dungey half a second faster then AC222

on a track AC222 never saw in his life. I was wonder how Dungey would fair in for the Mxgp title?
I think AC222 would be top 5 in the ama nationals. can't see him beating Kenny for the title.

Lap Rank Finish Best Lap In Lap Rider
1 1 2:13.074 7 Ryan Dungey

Don't understand your point. RV knows what tracks he'll be racing over there. I feel sure he's training for that and not Supercross tracks. Not making excuses for American riders, but they don't normally ride European style tracks and vice versa. Given time to adapt, top Americans can adapt and top Europeans can adapt. Doing a one time a year event under unusual circumstances is entirely different. RV will be prepared. That doesn't mean he will finish on top, but with time to prepare he will certainly fair better.

Dungey rides like another GREAT rider that no one ever seems to rag on......Kevin Windham. Kevin was probably the greatest 2nd place finisher in motocross history. 2nd to McGrath, 2nd to Charmichael, 2nd to Stewart.......Dungey is a "smart" racer, and smooth just like Windham was.
