Those vid clips are in racing situations not after picking up and possibly dazed plus being far off the line against the blocks and getting your bars snatched.

Totally different situations.

Did you read the article over on Racer X?

AMA Official Kevin Crowther: I think this incident, seeing it live, seeing it replayed quickly, we all saw it, the obvious decision for John was disqualification. So at that point a disqualification is going to be a disqualification. So with the concern that there could be more retribution around the race track, ala Jason Lawrence and Ryan Dungey in qualifying a couple of years ago, that’s when he decided to take out the black flag, which we support.

AMA Official Kevin Crowther: It’s the last thing you want to do, but sometimes it’s warranted.

If Canard had both hands on the bars, he wouldn't have fallen or even hit the tuff blocks. Reed didn't slam TC. They black flagged Reed for Trey's awkward fall, not the contact.

But as a Reed fan, I thought it was a lame move by Chad. He could have just blown by Trey while he was rolling around fixing things. Race, deal with it after.

I dont know what else they coulda done, penalty box? It was a chicken shit move.

If they would both got going and reed tried putting him down with both dicing it would be different I believe.

If they let it go then you may get a pissed rider ghosting his bike into someone.

I say that stopped future incidents.

Bet reeds sponsors didn't like the move either.

UFC promoters show knockouts but they don't show people kicking each other in the nuts.

Thanks, I also thought the little bump that sent Canard over the bars was chicken shit (just like he did to Bubba at Vegas) but I personally wouldn't have DQed him for it when we see way more dangerous moves every weekend that never get mentioned.

So you do not recall the time bam bam roosted Roczen after the finish line when Vincent took him out? Then proceeding to cuss out, on live tv, Vincent while he was being tended to by the medics? Neither of those were going for a position

Think before you speak

X2. Jake hit the nail on the head. They've got to put a stop to the insanity.

Promote it, then black flag it. REALLY! But Hansen's takeout at a higher speed is OK? Just Fing weird. It's turning into a damn joke.

agree. RV cut to the inside and took away his line. Alessi unfortunately did not pay attention while turning or could not avoid RV.

Reed went out his way to crash into Canard while he could easily pass him on the inside and continue his race. People can't see the difference because almost everybody is biased and therefore all this discussion is absolutely pointless. I do not agree entirely with the black flag DURING the race but he would get a suspension / scrapped from the results afterwards if I took the decision.

The best point he made to rationalize the disqualification though was that it took away Treys ability to retaliate. He probably wouldn't have but it could have turned into a pissing match between them and that wouldn't have ended good.

I guess Mookie should have been black flagged 2 summers ago when he punted Barcia off the track almost hitting the guide wire and cutting his head off.

Was this part of the quote real? Or, invented.

"So with the concern that there could be more retribution around the race track, ala Jason Lawrence and Ryan Dungey in qualifying a couple of years ago, that’s when he decided to take out the black flag, which we support."

If this is the way it works, I think there's 4-5 guys who maybe should not even be allowed to start? Can you really pre-punish anyone for what they might do?

Why isn't what Reed did considered racing for position? He passed Trey, he went forward from his position a minute ago, seems like racing for position to me...

No kidding, this is getting silly. They way the rules are enforced, the Ref can use his judgment to affect point standings, not cool...

Real. But fucking mind boggling.

Dude has been on the AMA circuit since 02... Hasn't exactly had a reputation of hunting guys, nor was it anything like the situation Dungey and Lawrence were in.

No way that was "racing for position". I agree he was passing him but Reed didn't need to take the line he did and if he was "racing" like normal he would have never taken that line. So with that in mind there is no other way to see it. Folks can argue all they want but it doesn't change what Reed did, and it was wrong. Period.

Trey should have waited to try and pass him but his mistake was a racing incident and it happens. I understand Reed being aggravated but that is no excuse.
