He caught so much shit for crying last year he probably was just trying to get through it. He ran a good heat race so I give him a pass on the interview.

Damn good race by Mike. Not his best interview. Still 1000% better than all the haters have done today.

Great race for Mike, hope He has a good main event.
Yes sadly you are correct. He has made mistakes but damn he was born into it....

He is a better man than me because during that interview I would have said that's for all you haters... Fuck Ya. And dropped the mike.

The strange interviews start with a pretend sip of an energy drink.

We rag on him, but we all like Mikey. You can tell he's just been under pressure for a while.

Him saying that makes you wonder what's said to him behind closed doors. One way or the other that was a good race mike put in. Go get them.

No kidding, my wife said "did he just say he didn't think he could win the main???" I was floored. I really feel bad for the kid. One of the top 25 or 30 most talented motorcycle riders in the world, maybe even better, and he has zero confidence. I'm no psssychiatrist but its as if his dad has always rode him so hard he doesn't have any faith in himself. Every now and again your kids need to win.

I've never been much of an Alessi fan, but credit where it's due, he rode really well. It's damn impressive for a privateer team to beat factory guys like that. Definitely felt bad for him in the interview though.

He has paid a high price for his dad's involvement in his career.

"I don't think I can win. I'm not at that level yet" although that's true and you feel that way be confident and don't talk down...

although that's true and you feel that way be confident and don't talk down yourself on tv.
I don't get it Alessi has the stones to go out, pull away, win against the best in the world then the main comes he goes out there throws out the boat anchor places horribly even though he's racing the same exact guys.... He needs to adopt a better approach because it seems like he forgets that he just want to heat race it's too bad if he's that good at Supercross he's gives it up in the main

I thought him crying for winning his first heat was incredible, a release of all the emotions of working so hard to get to that point.

You could clearly tell his was conflicted and confused during tonight's interview.

Hey- I just won! (a SX heat- still a big race), but I don't think I should have won...?

I felt bad for him, so afraid to be happy- or sad, because of all the somewhat self inflicted bullshit he has grown up with all his life.

Been said a millions times, but his Dad's influence (pressure) that may have driven him to the elite superstar status- and it was also the thing that stopped him from actually staying at the top.

He was on the gas. Not only did he win, but he also gapped the field. Might of been his best race in Supercross.

If he put 20 laps together like the ones in his heat win I think he would have a good shot at a win in the main.

i love seein mike do well, especially after all the shit he catches on here, deserved or not. i think he knows certain riders have an edge on him and thats where that came from. being honest with yourself isnt a bad thing as long as it creates a goal for you to attain. he had some flow during that heat and it was awesome. if he came out in a main and made passes on some top riders id be bouncing off the wall. i always root for an underdog.

He had a good ride but he has zero confidence. His mind is that of a teenager about to touch his first boob when he gets to the main. Just nerves hoping he doesn't blow his load in 2 seconds.

(Which he does by pulling a holeshot and dropping to 12th by the 3rd lap....)

I thought it was honest. i'm liking him more and more

Is it a confidence thing or is he scared to death of what to say. Every word he says gets scrutinized, I think he's totally mind fucked on what to say any more. It's actually sad listening to him.

I wish he wouldn't browbeat himself; IMO he rode great in his heat race. Charging forward, racing his own race, relaxed and focused. Just my observation. Like many on here, don't know what is going on behind the scenes; but he actually has looked good in the heats. Despite what is shown on paper (results), he seems like he is doing well in the mains. I really hope he can get that monkey off his back and get a lot of top 10 and top 5 finishes this year. He looks REALLY capable of doing it. I would like him to do what Short is doing this year. Mike is quite capable of it.

I didn't notice much awkwardness compared to any other rider. He probably remembered all of the hate he got for crying, so he dialed it way back to not showing emotion/over-confidence. If he would have said yes to winning the main, you guys would have come on here saying "can you beleve he said hes goin to win lol? He a pussy lol. He gonndrop the anchor after won lap!"

I liked his honesty and his realistic response. Top ten is a damn good finish in this field. Confident, but not unrealistic.

Does he have the talent to finish better with mental training? Probably.

He is a good dude. Great ride and lots of hope for privateers for the future.
As these fields get loaded thier are only so many factory rides so privateers will need motovation like this.
