What can I expect from a 144 kit on my RM 125? Was it worth it. My 03 has no low end whatsoever, and a little mid, but a rocket on top.

That is sad. Kyle had one built by Varner in 2003, and I had that thing in 2004 when I moved up. By far the best 125 I ever rode. I'd jump back on that thing in a heart beat if I had the chance.

I hear ya man. I rode/raced until I was about 13 and then got out of the sport (riding wise) for about 10 years due to heavy involvement in other sports. Flash forward a few years ago and I got my son started on a PW50. I thought I should get a bike too so we could ride together so I found this one for what I consider to be a good deal. My son didn't really take to it like I thought he would. He likes riding, but he's definitely not the "go in the garage just to sit on it and look at and drool over it type." He's more into traditional sports so when I ask what he wants to do it's usually basketball, baseball, football or riding his bmx bike. I also have absolutely zero friends that ride. Most of my friends are the type that would ask if Travis Pastrana won this weekend if I brought up a race. But they don't even know the racers are going on, haha.

I've contemplated selling it since it's basically a heavy paper weight at the moment. But my youngest boy is ripping on his strider so I'm thinking he might take to it. And since I got it pretty cheap so I don't mind hanging on to it.
Ever thought of trying hare scrambles? Arkansas has a pretty decent series with a good family atmosphere. Maybe your son would take to it more if he started being around other kids his age that were into it. You might even like it too.

The coat tails of my 9 year old! Cool stuff happens when I hang out with him!! I just pay for everything and work through the night if I'm not driving 200 miles to get somewhere to ride!

I ride a conversion af that I built last year and raced it at Mammoth. tons of fun and tons of power!
05 crf 250 chassis with an 85 cr500 motor.
Every time I ride it it makes me glad I built it and at the same time humbles me.
Cheers, Pat

2010 KTM 250 XC 2-stroke. Mostly ride high-elevation tech single track, but have a goal to try to get back into racing (desert, I guess) this year. The mountain bike has become my primary two-wheel obsession the past couple years though.

There are GP's, Hare Scrambles, Hare and Hounds (including two NHHA's), and a couple Enduro's on the schedule this year. A little bit of everything.

Thanks and thanks for the info.

I grew up racing in the Midwest (off road, GNCC-type events, National Hare Scrambles, etc.). After college I moved to Vegas and started doing the MRAN series and some WORCS. Didn't enjoy it; at all - insane dust, rocks, chaos. I was stuck behind slow goons, but couldn't pass because I couldn't see. I would take a break for a few months, get the itch and go do another one and felt the same way. Just got to where it was more fun to ride with my buddies (same turf, but with visibility, which was fun).

Last year I did a Hare Scramble in Montana. It was awesome (tighter, more technical riding - much more my style). But, the closest one is about 6.5 hours away; the rest of their series is WAY up in Montana.

I've kept my eye on the USRA series, but I'm assuming they're very similar to MRAN, so I haven't really had much interest. I've ridden Cherry Creek plenty of times (its ok, but my least favorite place to ride out of my staple of areas), and driven pas Knolls / Dell / Wendover and, again, it just looks like MRAN-esque territory. Wide-open fast rocky dusty desert.

Let me ask you this: there is so much great riding in the Spanish Fork / Diamond Fork / Hobble Creek area, they can't hold events out there?

The enduros might be fun - do you know which ones they are?

Thanks again.
have you ever ridden the powder mountain race its not too far from you just outside ogden utah ? thought about driving up and hitting that race ihave family there

The Honda bobber is wicked.

Mine now is a bit naked, replacing all the bearings.

I'm the oldest official MM member, lol.

And this is big fun too where I live.
