JGR bike

Edited Date/Time 1/9/2015 11:18am
Since coming into SX/MX, I have always thought the JGR Yamahas have been some of the best looking, trickest looking bikes out there. I remember JS7's YZ. Wicked. But what the heck happened this year? Just personal opinion but that bike is downright ugly. Anyone got any decent pics so I can get a better look?

Interesting interview http://racerxonline.com/2015/01/05/open-mic-450-riders-talk-a1

What held me back in the main event was the start. I had to fight through the pack, but at least I showed that I’m comfortable on the bike and can put it where I want and be aggressive. I definitely want to be on the podium, but when I got back Coy [Gibbs] wasn’t bummed at all. He was like, “Dude, you’re there, you’ve got the speed.”

All of those sponsor logos remind me of what a big city in Japan looks like in the movies -- colorful advertisements everywhere.

Same as the RCH Suzuki ! TO MANY LOGOS !!!

But thats what we get when manufacturers step away and let satellite teams run the effort !

Get used to it !

I think overall the bike is awesome looking, just sucks that some of the sponsor logos break up the color scheme. The fram, NFAB and FMF logos on the side # panel are a bummer.

Those bikes are hideous off the showroom floor, it's hard to polish a turd. Two years ago I thought the JGR bikes were one of the best looking bikes of all time.

Less is more. Less is more.

Honda always has the best looking bikes in my opinion.

In my opinion the rch bike would be the hottest on the track if it had yellow rims.
There are some ugly bikes this year, especially the kawaski teams (except Hanson)

For some reason, that pic of Barcia looks like an 18" rear tire. Got to be the black wheel that makes it look that way.

The "too many logos" comment is funny. I wonder if there is a long line of companies who are willing to give the team money without having their logo on the bike? The machine has a look like ten sponcers gave a little bit vs one giving a lot. Someone get Pepsi to send over a million dollar check, and you'll see a one color bike. Find an artist who can incorporate a Toyota logo, with Wienersnitzel, yamaha..etc..Oh, and also have a way to make them disappear when they dont pay you.

Look at Hondas roadracing effort, the Repsol bikes, and tell me their traditional red isn't for sale. It jus happens to look pretty good, btu if Reposl was pink, you'd see pink Honda's.

Worth noting is the one color, one theme bikes really dont have much outside money coming in, and I though that is what everyone wanted? Or, they do have money from an anonymous company.

Imagine going to a Football game at the :"Screw Magazine arena"

It would be very cool if Hustler, Playgirl, or some porn magazine wrote a check too large to resist, and they had to use it.

This may be better received in the unpopular opinions thread, but I love the black rims. Especially on the Suzukis. The yellow rims are vomit inducing. Kenny's bike looks outrageously good, thank God they didn't ruin it with those horrific mustard rims. And yeah the Yammys look terrible, the lack of gas cap makes it look too much like an electric bike. Just looks weird.

Toss the colored hoses, black rims and all those little stickers on the front fender/fork guards...

I think the black wheel look is already dated. I know the younger crowd loves it, every young kid around rattle cans the rims on his bike unless daddy pays for a new set. They look worn out before they are even on the track. The RCH bikes would look so much better with the yellow rims, like the Yosh team. The Yamaha looks better with silver wheels, and that's not saying much! I still like the gold wheel look myself. My CR and RM both rock gold wheels. If I had a 14 or 15 YZ, I'd go Blue or Gold. JMHO

The Yamaha bodywork seems like an awkward canvas to work with.

Well, the bike itself is ugly. There's not much that can make it better. Bringing back the white and blue checkered look (2000-2009ish) would help. Did I mention that the bike is ugly. Different front fender please!!'

Maybe because the auto trader logo is really bad looking, and they are trying to somehow blend it in.

I mean honestly, who the f... uses a lime green mirror effect round bubble, looks shit, sort it out Autotrader.

It's not great agreed, but it's the designers job to make a solution that works.... Doubt even they are happy with this. Or should be!

I'd drop the cyan grads, purple crap, clean the colour scheme and block it out with some clear clean sections, blue and white only... Big auto trader logo, blue on white, not white on black and then work the other in. Smaller numbers, make use of the real estate at the back, silver forks, rims to match the frame and blue highlights like a yamaha should.

Yup but the trick there is to steer the client.

Present three.

One you really like, one you want and one uncomfortable lamb.

Looks good btw!
