Are they as good as they sound ? Light and fun like a 125, but enough grunt to run with a 250f. If I get the chance to build up a bike I would have to give one some serious consideration.

I've had several 167 bikes. Two different Kaw and a Yams. Loved them both. I was about a 150 pounds when I raced them.

I've also had several big bore 250F......to much engine braking. I'm currently about 160.

How old are you? I was in my late 40's when I had my 167's. Did very well with them in the 40 Expert class.

I took my 2006 yz 125, turned it into a 144. As 125, it would scream and overev, as a 144 had more bottom, a tad more mid perhaps, any less top! As a small bore goes, topend is king, it sucked with more cc. Was a great 125. Must bore, stroke, and port to make it right. If you already don't scream a 125, then its great.

Turned my 1997 CR 125 into a 167, actually had some low end grunt and pulled like a raped ape.

I had a Husqvarna 165, it was great. It really felt like a weak 250 that still handled like a 125. It was great. It didn't rev out as far but it was so easy to keep on the pipe it was rediculous, massive mid-top power and enough bottom-mid that you very rarely had to shift down out of 3rd gear. Zero noticeable effect on vibration or handling.

I rode a Husky 165 w /Lectron carb and loved it, even though I'm 195 LBS. I've been trying to get a friend to sell it to me ever since.

If you turn a 125 into a 167, what type of gearing changes do you need to make?

I also have a Husky 165 w/ 36mm Lectron and KTM 200 pipe. It is the perfect combination of power, weight, handling and braking. It's fast without overpowering the handling or braking on the bike. I only wish I had a wide ratio 5 speed vs. the close ratio 6 speed since it has the power to pull the longer spread.

I have a '97 CR 125 sitting in the garage awaiting a full rebuild (that I was supposed to start last winter but that's a different issue altogether).

What shop did your CR as a 167? I've only ever seen them offered for YZ's and a KX here and there....

If its a kit do they include a head that is cut to accept the piston or do they put a spacer under the cylinder?

Eric Gorr/Forward Motion, this was in 1999 so not sure if he still has the same offering. Probably one of my favorite bikes of all time, sold her in 01 for $2700.

Thanks. I sent an email to them asking if they would still offer that kit/service.
