I was riding back in the late 80's at Fort Ord near Monterey, Ca. We were on this sand track and it was winter time. The sun was getting low and the lighting was going away. I could hear a 4 stroke ( or so I thought) somewhere on the track but I couldn't see anyone.. I started looking around, couldn't see anyone else, but could still hear the motor. Shortly after we realize it was a black hawk copter flying right over our heads... and following us around the track.

So we were headed for our truck near by and the pilot of this thing hovers it like 5 feet off the ground about 50 yards from us. He faces the us with the copter and points the guns at us as well. We look at each other then at the copter as if to say "hey... what's the deal"... he stays there in a hover for 5 mins or so then takes off. We got the feeling that if you ever get chased by someone in one of those and they want to kill you you're pretty much dead!
How long did it take to wash the shit out of your riding pants? Lol That's some scary stuff.

My Parents live out in the middle of what I like to call Goat country. It's fucking hills, rocks, sticks and scrub.

About 25 kays from their house, in the bush, on the top of a hill only accessible by KTM300 or foot, is a hut–roof is about 5 feet tall, shit everywhere and looks somewhat inhabited... and it's creepy as fuck. I've ridden past it twice, both times have not stuck around to see who or what is in there, but I'm guessing some ass raping or drugs are being done there for sure... fucking creepy.

The dude had a little track that ran around his corrugated iron shack. He looked like the guy in Hillbilly's profile pic, and if you didn't know him, which luckily one of the guys we were riding with did, he would greet you with a shotgun.
EZZA, I've seen him to, we just pinned it past him.

Man that's crazy, it's a small world huh! I remember you spotted Lake Macquarie in the background of one of my pictures,
are you still in the area? If I had a bike I'd tee up a ride with ya but I've been sans dirtcycle going on 4 years now.

They were going after a MIG-29 which had caught my eye seconds before & I was sure I'd mis-ID'd an F-15...Uh, no!

I was sooooo stoked.

The majority of my family live an hour west of Fort Worth, TX and have land which I ride on. I have a very small track in the woods right next to a field. To get to the track, I generally run 5th gear across the field and go flying into the woods (track). I did that one day and came flying up on what I assume was a mountain lion. It was a cat about the size of a dog and had a long tail. I came within six feet of it and it took off in a hurry only to come to a fence a few feet away and I got to watch it run up and down the fence before going through.

A month or so later, my uncle saw it crossing a road. A month or few months after that, my cousins and I were swimming in a swimming pool that is probably 1,000 feet from the track. My cousin pauses and stares off in the woods. He said there was what looked like a dog staring at us from the woods. His description fit the description of the mountain lion so that was a bit creepy. It sounded as if it was stalking us. We have never seen it again. We are not known for having mountain lions and I don't recall anyone else ever seeing one. I did a little research and apparently we do have them, but they must be in very small numbers. It was cool seeing something so rare.

That's what struck me the most with the cat I saw, their tails are at least as long as their body. I swear the cat that ran out in front of me looked 10' tip to tail as it stretched out in stride.

Some guy died while riding at cross creek mx like in 08. Dude was just dead laying by the track. They threw a sheet over him till the ambulance got there to get him but everyone just kept riding. Was weird rolling through the corner and there's just a dead guy right there. I left shortly after lol. Least he died doing what he loved I guess
Jesus- they tossed a sheet over him and kept riding? Seriously? That is enormously fucked up.
I just wanted to cover this, it really wasn't a big deal. The guy was dead, it was a Sunday and the Justice of Peace couldn't make it out to the country for several hours so we couldn't move him. The guy that died was a low 50s obese guy and he was pitted next to me. He had a beautiful CRF450 and was having the time of his life as we spoke. Unfortunately a lifetime of bad dietary choices caught up to him at that moment.
If I had a heart attack I wouldn't want anyone to miss their day of riding cause of me. Life is for the living after all. And I have to think that he was enjoying the view.
If the guy had died due to an MX accident that would have been horrible. But he died because of his food choices and he just happended to be at the track when it happended.

I had the owner of the track call his mom (number in his cell phone) and I offered to drive his bike and truck back to her in Houston. She declined.

It is weird that their are 3 people in this thread that were there that particular day. Were any of you there when the fast black dude crashed while I was trying to keep up with him and snapped his spine bad (he recovered)? Or the following weekend when I disintegrated my L1 (I still ride). Both accidents were influenced by huge random pot holes on a largely unmaintained race track.

Hey, Cross Creek is also where I shattered my ankle in 2004. Lots of fun stuff happened there.

I was even there for the Chris Cagle video shoot for 'Chicks Dig It' - featuring none other than Kenny 'Cowboy' Bartram.
I didn't make the final cut on that one, dammit!

Edit: Wow, I just remembered I also won a brand new 2004 CRF250 at Cross Creek in one of their raffles.
Sold it for $5400 the next week!!

It looked blue-ish-camo...if that makes sense...?

I caught the tail/empennage section pretty good after seeing it broad-side quickly as it blurred across my path...no markings that I could see. It was so funny. In my head, I heard my brain say,"Hey! That ain't no 15, Dumb-Ass!"

I was on a KX500 enjoying the morning & earlier had seen a band of horses with a beautiful black Mustang running along with me...between me and the band...he was about 100 yards away and he was awesome.

There's such amazing scenery out in the Desert.

Not riding, but similar, was fishing one day up at twin lakes north of Bishop, Ca. Very peaceful and quiet lakes in a valley just below the peaks of the Sierra Nevada mtns. Hear what sounds like the wind pick up in the pines.. guess again, it's two A10's cresting the ridge and straight down the little valley right over my head at low altitude.. like a scene out of a slapstick comedy they about blew me outta my folding chair! Was awesome, never forget that ! Laughing

That's pretty interesting. Does the AF have a secret stash of Rooskie fighters for training purposes? I know they'll simulate them, or the bigger exercises like Red Flag where other nations get involved, but I wouldn't be that surprised to learn that there's a few hangers out there with a few 29s and 27s in em, off the books of course haha.

I was cross training in the woods when I saw 2 bear cubs run across the trail about 25 yards ahead of me. Being a narrow sketchy trail I couldn't stop and turn around so I had to pin it hoping momma bear wasn't right behind. That part of the trail was a C so I still had to come back around to where I was essentially. Needless to say that was the fastest i've ever ridden in my life.

A-30 has the Nellis (just about everything A/F in The Nevada Range belongs to Nellis) group that flies/tests birds from all over the world. There was a time that this stuff was done at 51; but, during the last decade they've been bouncing between Indian Springs/Creech and Tonopah.

We were trail riding and came up on a small pond near the trail. There was a body floating face down in the water about 20ft off shore. We all started freaking out and got off our bike, then all of a sudden the guy pops up and scares us. Haha he must've held his breath for over a minute..it looked real.

In the early to late 80's we would often see low flying planes dumping all sorts of objects into the woods of the everglades and Loxahatchee just southeast of Boca and people collecting said objects.

I was riding at the famous "Palm Ave" as a kid and went down a hill on a little single track, turned a blind corner and drilled an illegal alien trying to cross the border. I was maybe 12 or 13. I get up, the guy is laying there in pain, speaking spanish and all of the sudden there is a dozen illegals surrounding me, they were all hiding. I picked up my bike and rode away.

Had almost the exact same thing happen, Regis. I was at Palm Ave. trying to pound out some laps on a track that was nestled between tall willowish plants. You couldn't see anything but the track ahead because they were so high. I came around a corner and hit the throttle when suddenly a father, mother and two children darted through the track then froze like deer. I locked it up and slid to a stop, stalling the bike within inches of them. We stared at each other for a second and they all darted off without saying a word. I nearly shit my pants.

Was at the track with the old man when I was younger and he always preached to us that if we crashed, unless the bike was broken or we were hurt you finished the race. Well, the old man got kicked over the bars so bad he basically ended up doing a front flip landing on his butt, and ripping not only his pants, but also his underwear wide open. Knowing he always told his kids to finish, he got up, picked his bike up, and completed his last 3 laps mooning everyone at the track. I'll never forget that.

I was riding my 77 rm125b at a place called Gorman (California) .I was on the main dirt road heading to this track my friends and I made to run my laps . Up ahead I noticed black smoke curling down from the sky in a twisting motion then I see it, An Air Force
F4 Phantom jet heading straight up the valley I'm in on full afterburner. He went right over me. I'm not sure of the altitude maybe 100 feet but I could feel the heat and the sound was unexplainable ( you see the plane but you don't hear it for a second or so) It scaired the bejebis out of me and maybe a little body fluid. All this took less than two seconds in real time.
I had a helmet on and my ears rang for days! It was cool and terrifying at the same time.
Cheers, Pat
I have had that happen to me near Sand Mt Nv. We were riding the canyons and dez near Fallon naval air base, When out of no where 2 jets swopped right over our heads. Seemed like 50 feet but probally higher lol. It was so loud and unexpected I almost crapped myself.

I was driving to Mammoth with my wife she was a sleep at the time ( i just have that effect on people)
we drove through red rock area and something flew in front me about one hundred yards ahead of me
now at the time 82/83 i was up to speed on what was standard issue in our air force as far as aircraft goes
and I have no Idea what the aircraft I saw was!
twin tail/twin engine/severe dihedral on the vertical surfaces/ camo blue with gray/
one pilot. the profile was like a nothing I've ever witnessed.
cool stuff. I still don't know what it was.

Quite the coincidence.

When my parents were helping me move to Dallas we were traveling in a convoy heading east from Lubbock. About an hour and a half outside of Dallas there was a particularly large piece of road-kill lying on the shoulder of the highway. My mom swears that it was a large cat of some type -- she seems to think that it was a jaguar because of its dark, almost black color. She's convinced it was a feline due to its long tail.

I did some research and apparently Jaguars have made it up into Texas from Mexico. Dallas seems too far north to me for those type of cats. Very well could have been a mountain lion.

Big cats captivate me. I spent a long time at the Dallas World Aquarium watching their black jaguar. Most impressive athletes on the planet, in my opinion.
