I just learned about this switch when I saw this thread two minutes ago, and I have to say my first reaction is that this makes me think less of McGrath, but not more of Kawasaki.

And why is that ? So if your current job would not retain your service you wouldn't go work someplace else ?

Hell ,if Rodger DeCoster thought like you guys he would have never went to Suzuki or KTM when Honda didnt want him any more. Pinch

I bet pilot dude would just keep working even if his company didn't want to pay him anymore, now that's dedication. Wink

Thinking about this more..... And the more I do the more I'm amazed Travis pastrana has been with Suzuki since the early 90's.

Pilot? Come on man. Sheeesh.

None of us know the inner dealing behind all this. For all we know , Honda could of been paying Jerremy peanuts to just keep him around. Maybe not letting him be more involved in the racing aspect of it? Maybe.....they have been doing it to him for years.....and he decided it was time for a change?

Lets say you fly for American airlines for the past 10yrs and they just don't appreciate you , or pay you nearly as much as what Alaskan airlines is willing to pay you. Alaskan airlines is willing to pay you twice as much and give you 3 X the vacation time + free vacations stuff.......or whatever , you get my point.

There are times when a company can take advantage of an employee , that they will never make more , or move up through the fod chain. Who is to say that Honda wasn't doing this to Jeremy? That dude made a decision that he thinks is best for him and his family. Retired or not.....his name means a LOT!

maybe Kawasaki just appreciates his name a little more?

One thing I learnt about professional motocross, there is fuck all loyalty. To anyone. Yeah sorry, next! Some exceptions like Dubach, but fuck all. Ever heard the phrase "your only as good as your last race"? There's good reason for that. And that stretches into the race team, especially Honda. Don't believe me, why don't you ask Eric Kehoe or Mike Fisher. Or Roger DeCoster.
Or the 'it's a short career'.??? Anyone? It may be because of who he is and how he has handled his career but even after retiring he has found a way to extend his career/ input/ whatever you want to call it

I do find it weird to have a "Brand ambassador" that has barely spent any of his pro career on this brand. But "Brand Ambassador" is just a title... if you ignore the title it's not too problematic to see him on a Kawasaki.

It was a little bit weird too when Everts went to KTM after his racing days, but there he was/is doing more than being a brand ambassador.

KROC
Wait maybe it's easier to state the guys who haven't switched brands ever in their pro career?

Good move for both parties. The Honda sucks and I am sure he wanted a change of pace. I think its good for Kawi to bring him under the tent and now that he is on a real bike I bet his speed has increased enough to race a few supercrosses this coming year Wink

Honda sucks? ...Didn't McGrath play a big role in the design of the new Honda?

McGrath is entitled obviously to do what ever he wants. It just seems like he switches sponsors all the time for a few dollars more and i think that's what leaves a bad taste in the mouth of a few fans.

Plus, is he really back with Kawi? He rode a Kawi as an amateur a miilion years ago.

C) how often does he really "change" sponsors.

All the time. That's why i said it. I also said he is entitled to do whatever he want's. So i guess that means there's nothing wrong with it.

OK. You get it now?

CIA

Completely Ignorant Assholes

They're everywhere.

If I remember correctly...it all started with his dad getting him a Yamaha...then some Kawi's...A Team Green ride, Hondas...with Mitch...I think, then Hondas with Honda...then...Zooks...back to Yamahas like when he was a kid, a very-short run on the Bud Light KTM...a short lived retirement...back on Hondas in a Branding/R&D move...which I believe was a litlle bit on & off...now he's back to his Team Green roots and maintaining the Monser deal he's had for years...which came AFTER he was a Red Bull athlete...all of which came long after the 1-800 days and selling shavers...

Would you like to discuss Fox, No Fear, TLD...etc.?

I'm still laughing at you Butt-Hurt Bitches talking shit. Talk about a dire need to GFY.

He has spent years and years proclaiming his loyalty to Honda and why Honda was the best. he has virtually zero time on Kawasaki as a pro and now all of a sudden people are supposed to just say, "Oh yeah, he would be the one to listen to about how great Kawasaki is." Come on, that is just pure BS.

Of course it's about the money. The problem I have with that is the guy has a net worth that is in the muti millions of dollars. So this brand hopping by a guy who doesn't even race anymore is just a transparent cash grab...nothing more, nothing less. All of you trying to "explain" it differently, please just save your breath. You sound and look ridiculous trying to do it.

It doesn't make 1 bit of difference at all. My only point is that makes me think less of McGrath for doing it, but does not add any additional credibility to Kawasaki, due to the zero races or titles run or won on a green bike.

You think less of McGrath for taking a job that will bring him and his family more money? Any way you slice it you sound dumb.

Kawasaki would have been better adding another rider to their race team effort rather than this. We will all see through McGrath's opinions of The KX as employers $$$

Think less of MC because he switched bikes?

It has no affect on my life what so ever which brand a rider chooses to ride. Especially a retired champ like MC that has the right to do whatever he thinks is best for his career and income for his family.

People change jobs and employers all the time.....why do we need to put such a judgmental opinion on it when a rider does the same thing?

And as me being a Kawi guy ( again ).....I'm kind of happy he made the switch. I could see Honda fans may be a little disgruntled about it though.
