The trip of a lifetime after dreaming since a teenager of some day attending. Phil Alderton and I made the trip together then hooked with Johnny O´Mara. O Show was friends with Phil and was actually mounting a return to racing in 93 aboard a HoT machine. His comeback was halted when he ran out of gas on a jump breaking one of his heels badly. Rolling with Johnny was a trip since everyone holds him in high regard and there was no place we couldn´t go as long we were following him.
Had my first Red Bull in the L&M pits meeting Stefan Everts in the process. Stefan had been talked AKA snookered into signing with Husky by his then manager Dave ......? Stefan was not racing due to an injured shoulder while 250 GP competitor Pichon tried to ride with a injured shoulder but had to pull out.
First exposure to sound testing and 4 strokes were JUST starting to invade the sport at that time. Man what an experience so for sure my avatar holds a special meaning to this cowboy.
FOOTNOTE: I would not be where I am today in the industry without my buddy Phil AKA Flipper starting HoT. In March it will be three years since his passing and I am still not over it. I miss being able to pick up the phone and talk to him. Phil Alderton obviously had his issues but the guy had a heart of gold and was generous to a fault.
Cooper, being the party animal he was, couldn't hold out any longer.
He passed September 30, 2010 at 15 1/2 years old, been damn near 4 years now!
This is a very cool thread, thanks for sharing your stories guys.
Pit Row
Just thinking about the dual shocks and the bumps on the side plates.
Cheers, Pat
I still feel like that series vs the hawks was the one really for the cup.
My (current) avatar says 'Killola', which is a band. When I first previewed their album I am the Messer on itunes I shit my pants twice because it was so awesome. (OK, the second time it was more like a shart.) If your precious mind can't handle a variety of female rock vocals then maybe you better play it safe and not watch the video. (Or if you're prone to seizures; it's quite flashy and annoying.)
It seems unfair that they're as teeny-tiny as they are, so I'm doing my part.
