They discussed it during the broadcast explaining he was trying them out this week.

That's a major change, especially for Factory Honda!

Noren is still running Showa. Canard was simply testing them. he ran KYB air forks with a showa standard shock ( may be wrong on that)

KYB front and rear... he tested them earlier in the week, and it was group decision to race on them.

Trey's pretty well locked in on third for the series, so they're turning over rocks to see if they can find something. At this point it looks like it was a chance worth taking.

So the bike won't be the excuse next year! That's really cool that Honda is opening up the options for its riders like that!

I think Trey has been searching on set up all year. Looks like they found something worth looking at. Tomac has also ran the KYB forks on the 450.

Nice to see Factory Honda running KYB for at least 1 race since that is what comes on the production CRF450 lol.

hmm clicked or disappeared try again

I've always thought it a bad idea to run one brand on your factory bikes and sell another on your production bikes

Where does the development come from?

Some marketing for them

"Buy a new all fantastic CRF450," (please don't notice we use another brand of fork on our race bikes)

I don't give a fck what Honda do, its still a snub to consumers.

so we shouldn't talk about it?

so what should we talk about on a moto board?

the price of bread?

mindless consumer I am not!

I love Honda. Bought 9 new bikes over the past 13 years. It means allot to me that the factory race team uses the same brand of suspension they sell on the production bike. I don't care what Honda does any longer. Im switching to KTM moving forward.

how is it a snub to consumers? are you for real....???

Currently the factory Suzuki team in Europe runs KYB even though the production bike uses Showa. For 2013, Kawasaki ran Showa with Villopoto and Weimer even though the production bike ran KYB. The more you dig, the more you find.

I remember the angst when Ake Jonsson put Maico forks on his Yamaha. Showa to KYB is nothing.
8/10/2014 1:21am
I'd love to just get irate like the op over stupid shit lol. I imagine him crouched over his desk typing out a letter to the BBB over Hondas deceptive sales tactics.

When the fuck did that happen?!!!! That's it... I'm selling my 73 yz and getting a fucking Bultaco! I'm not some idiot consumer!

you've come up with 2 teams for 1 year, not exactly an overwhelming amount of teams worldwide is it now?

that you don't get that its been a marketing mistake is your problem.

So what your saying is...
they cant change rim brand or color...
they cant change tires...
they cant change handlebars, grips or levers...
the cant change pipes and silencers....
they cant change graphics or plastics...
they cant change clutches...
they cant change chain and sprockets....
they cant change foot pegs....
and...and...and...and.....

There was a time that none of the factories used the OEM rear shocks. Everyone had these new fangled shox with no springs called Fox Shox. If I remember correctly, we thought it was "trick". And no one was offended.

Wow, amazing how both sides of this discussion are so damn hostile towards the opposite side. I get the point the OP is trying to make. A manufacturer sells their production bike with one brand of fork but races with a different brand. You'd have to be lacking just a bit in the smarts department if you didn't at least ask yourself, "why don't they run what they sell. If you're going to run something different why not offer it on the bikes you sell?". But at the same time, lets not make a mountain out of a mole hill here guys. Looks like it's time for a round of chill pills to be handed out.

I heard from a KYB technician in Europe that that the design is totaly different and that the range of the clickers is much much wider. no further details where given.. But the Gajser bike look realy good on the track (99% rider probably..)
