I'm seeing a lot of fresh meat assholes speculating on things for personal attention and gain. Pathetic.
It's not jut speculation if guys like JT, Matthes, and Weigandt are discussing it without any hesitation as to its veracity.
For the deniers I'll ask it again: if free IV bags and injections are provided by the Asterisk Medical Unit after the race, why would James hire a nurse and fly her to each race every weekend.
We can't prove he was cheating, but all the signs point towards it.
I guess James has medical emergencies every weekend.
Pit Row
judge, jury and executioners, everything right here........... except for any proof of anything.
If JS7 had legitimate prescription for Adderrall, he and his management are irresponsible idiots for not knowing the rules and getting WADA / USADA TUEs.
It is also the dirty little secret of Pro MX that riders get IVs between motos on hot days. It has been going on for a long time. There are even stories of riders training down at RCs ranch administering each other IVs on practice days to aid recovery during and after practices.
Some riders and managers have even suggested that it be sanctioned and managed by MX Sports. NFL players get em at half time. What is the big deal? Do we want to see who the fastest MX racers are....or do we want to see who can recover from dehydration and blood sugar depletion the fastest? Keep in mind that a big factor in recovery is the short period of time allowed due to TV broadcast schedules. How "natural" is that?
That said...it is against the current written rules...and if you are going to 'cheat' (I personally think the no IV rule is STUPID for safety reasons) you damn well better do it right! JS7s camp should have coached their nurse on what they were doing, and how to handle herself in such situations. Just stupid to have her say what she said.
There is no way to prove James cheated, but it sure looks bad. In fact, there is no way to ever catch any rider doing this if they use their head. It is an unenforceable rule. This is another reason it should not exist.
Which becomes a separate argument & much harder to prove. The IV itself is not against the rules. If his symptoms (weekly..lol) were sufficient to qualify as a medical emergency, would be very subjective to the person diagnosing the condition.
For example. I went to 5 or 6 specialists before deciding on my knee surgery. Of those specialists, I got at least 5 different possible treatments. Which one was right? Probably all of them to a degree.
This is definitely an area where the rules leave room to be manipulated. Probably didn't break the rules, but probably took advantage of them.
With regard to whether the IV is or is not against the rules, I would put it a little differently. As a general rule, IV's between motos disqualify the rider. There is an exception to the general rule if the IV is medically necessary to treat an emergency medical condition.
"A medical emergency is an injury or illness that is acute and poses an immediate risk to a person's life or long term health."
I think most medical practitioners would find that simple rehydration so as to be able to participate in the next sporting event to be a pretty big stretch of the definition. If the medical situation is such that it poses a threat to life or long term health then participation in moto 2 would probably not be clinically indicated.
Of coarse not. Some people prefer to focus on positive things, not negative. Everybody makes mistakes.
