Thread contents & NSFW

As a common courtesy I think it would be nice if threads containing questionable content were labeled NSFW, and replies containing NSFW content linked to images instead of including them.

It takes almost no effort and it helps out your fellow moto fan.

I totally agree. I am guessing there are a few people around that check vital on their lunch break. I know I do and I am always nervous of what might come up.

My fantasy football league gets pretty, shall we say, questionable. We are all a bunch of mid twenties dudes that have known each other from elementary school through college, so you can imagine how that can be. We have one guy that runs something similar to a YMCA or Boys and Girls Club and he just finally had to quit checking our league at work. He asked us to ease up and it just got worse. We are kind of a bunch of assholes.

So, OP is OK with Vital content except for certain break times? I think that it would be manageable to edit things at certain times of the day and fit them in for everyone's different requests. In other words, don't edit at these times of the day, edit them at other times of the day, and if thousands of others have requests then do that too. Sounds reasonable.

How many has he made so far? None that I know of.

I don't frequently see NSFW stuff. The last guy I know of who posted some (topless pics, despite warnings) got clipped.

He hasn't made any, because nobody listens to him. If it were up to him though the AMA rulebook would be 1,000 pages and this place would be, well, Mototalk.

The only way to be safe is to not come to Vital at all while at work.

NSFW does not only mean boobs popping up on your screen and your boss sees them over your shoulder.

Some of these fools will link to pics that are hosted on sites which may be blocked or questionable to your employer. So, for example, you click on a totally harmless thread and some poster has embedded a pic of a girl in a bikini. Not topless so not NSFW, right? Only prob is he linked the pic from www.superxxxpornsomebs.com So now, you "accessed a porn site" while at work. You are now flagged by the IT department for unauthorized usage, etc.

No way to prevent this on a forum like this.

NSFW or not, most bosses would probably say GET BACK TO WORK!

When I worked, I found a way to go through Citrix to a remote computer's desktop and I got my VitalMX fixx from there.. Smile

Fun thread! Smile I know a lot of you guys responding to this are "hardcore cool" so I am hesitant to even reply. I do check Vital when I am in the office which isn't that often. I have definitely done the "oh shit!!" and try to hit the back button as fast as I can because I have hot T&A on my screen and I have a female manager who could come up behind me at any moment and I have no idea how she would deal with it.

I would love to throw Peely way under the bus because he is the worst offender. However, I appreciate all content Peely posts and generally he throws that stuff out when folks are down and need a lift. Asking folks to change the way they post or the content on Vital would be like racers asking for exceptions for banned substances.. It would screw things up.

I accept the risk when surfing Vital at work.. If a thread title reads something a little 'flashy', I will open the thread when I am certain nobody is around or at home. X1 vote, leave the content be GuyB.

GuyB and other administrators,

I'm sure I'm not alone here when I say I enjoy reading the vital forums at work on breaks and during lunch.

I have often seen pictures that are most definitely NSFW but were not tagged in the thread title that could really accidentally cause some of us problems due to most companies policies on internet viewing and what is deemed as acceptable and non-acceptable.

I understand that this is an adult forum (and i'm all for the dirty threads during my time at home) but sometimes I am just plain nervous to click on a thread based on a thread title when i'm at work. That picture a few months ago of the naked girls from the 70's or 80's during a pit stop was a great example.

Is it too much to ask that the NSFW tags are administered more closely?
Nothing here is nsfw. There are never any pics that bad. Man up buddy.

This post would have been 20 pages of roasting in the Motodrive days.

Read what I posted again. If I embed a picture that is hosted on a certain site, you just accessed content from that site (without intending to) the instant you opened the thread and your PC downloaded the pic.

For example, you just accessed foxnews.com because I embedded this pic from their site. If your IT department has Foxnews blocked, you will not see the pic but it will flag that you attempted to access a blocked site.

So basically, it doesn't matter if your boss is looking over your shoulder or not. It's not as simple as what shows on your screen at any given moment.

I have been working as an IT Director for the last 12 years......that's not how it works.

That link is embedded on this site, the content may be blocked just as ad content is so yes if that site is blocked it will appear as a red X but will not flag on a firewall report as accessing blocked content.

You have to click the link for that to be flagged as accessing inappropriate content.
