First, please send positive thoughts to a friend Bryan Friday and Mike Monaghan. Both went down hard at REM yesterday too, Bryan with a broken femur; the ambulance was busy.
This was race 6 for Saturday REM Racing, 40+ Intermediate. REM raced on the National track and it was the second moto. I think there were 13 races, so the track had 18/19 races on it...she was chewed up, rutted and pretty gnarly. Typical late day Glen Helen. The layout was a "vet" version of the AMA Glen Helen National 2 weekends ago. I've been racing Glen Helen several times a year for 10+ years, feel very comfortable there and Mt. St. Helen has never bit me before...until yesterday.
This lap I chose a different line (far right side) and spotted a huge braking bump. I came off the brakes to hit it only to land perfectly over the face of another about 7 feet away. I kinda jumped off the face off one and cased another. I knew what was coming so I leaned back and pinned it, no luck this time. I got bucked over the bars, flying W and proceeded with full bike inspection, front fender, oil plug, skid plate, then ass over end over ass over end.
Carnage to bike: None that I can find other then plastic scratches....
Carnage to me: Ended up going out for a minute...maybe 90 seconds (so they tell me). The radio lady who called Frank said I was out quick and rag-doll'd for a while.
Gotta love the infamous first question "who's the president?" I said Malcolm Smith but they didn't get the joke. (j.k.)
I was able to get up and walk, start my bike and ride back to my rig but with a very stiff/sore lower back.
Was wearing a LEATT and Scott chest protector and of course the 6D helmet that i'll be running over to Brea for inspection next week. I've already accepted the helmet will be another mantle piece, with a helluva story behind it.
I'd be remiss if I didn't mention how great the REM staff was, especially Frank Thomason who immediately notified my 12 yr. old son (we were there alone), that I was OK. Then pulled him aside and told him what to watch for in case my concussion got worst. Later that night, I got a personal call from Frank asking how I was and making sure I made it home ok. What a GREAT guy and club REM is.
Anyway, with the head injury i'm taking 6 weeks off which should give time for my back to heal up, i'll be back for July's SRA GP and REM races.
Enjoy the carnage

As for you....glad you'll be ok man! Didn't watch the video yet , but I see that you went out for a minute or so. Tells me that was a good one to say the least. Heal up man!
Major props to the promoter for calling you later. That's first-class!
The Shop
Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts
$189.95 - $239.95
DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
Thanks for the well wishes, everyone.
For you, I'll say any motocrosser hates that "earth-sky-earth-sky" routine. Great video and keep us posted on getting well.
Glad you are ok, I wasn't knocked out but I was pretty groggy for a few weeks. I just went riding today and love my new shoei, but, I didn't ride very good at all!
witnessed a pretty big get off today and luckily the kid walked away from it, but, he hit the eject off a pretty large Double so I guess today was a good day for crashing!
Again, happy you are good, keep us updated on how the 6D faired!
My full helmet cam video has several crashes on it, from tip-overs to guys cross-rutting and mini-pile ups. There were "body's everywhere".
It was a tough day.
Updated the OP with the 1080P video link.
Pit Row
Glad you're ok!
Do we race each other at SRA events? I make as many as I can...

I got a monster holeshot at the last SRA I raced, then then fought hard back to 3rd! Lol
Anyway, damn Chris, you haul ass. Your lap times are a full minute faster then my friend Ty Green who races 40+ Intermediate and I consider Ty and I to be the same speed. You weren't too far off from Ryan Dudek's times in 30+ class too.
Nice meeting you, if you're out there this month i'll come over and say hello. I take a lot of photos, especially when i'm broken and can't ride, and we have a big group of really great/friendly guys who race every month.
Hope to see you out there!

BTW, Slipdog builds my motors and they don't bring the suck.
I have a bone spur where the spine S1-L5 area meets sacrum, likely causing the severe pain and aggravation. Could be an old injury. Nothing of too concern but need to watch for long term arthritis. No surgery needed. Doc suggested Norco and I reminded her last time (for my ACL replacement) I couldn't poop for a week and when It can time to stop the body was like "gimme gimme gimme more, now!" So I'm leaving with 100x 800mg ibuprofen and a muscle relaxer for sleepy time.
Ride clearance in 3/5 weeks.
See you out there, BRAAP!
Ps., i'll update this thread after my 6D helmet office visit/inspection.
