Ferry just spanked the rest of the riders in the MX3 class .... and won the title for us. The final moto he goes from 38th to 5th on a crowded track. What more do you want from the guy?

Put down the Guiness!!

Ferry looking very steely-eyed and Stantonesque.

From the RacerX report -

"
When the gate dropped for the third and final moto of the Red Bull Motocross of Nations, it was James Stewart rocketing into the lead, followed closely by France’s Sebastien Pourcel, who finished a distant second to Stewart in the first MX1 outing. As all eyes were on the two Kawasakis racing side-by-side out front, my esteemed colleague Steve Matthes had his eyes fixated on Team USA’s Open-class entrant, Timmy Ferry, who was literally next-to-last after the first three turns. But it didn’t matter, right? Stewart was out front and we could just toss out our worst moto score...

Zach was going good.

Right up until this -

That's why Ferry is partying and a hero right now and Zach is wondering what hit him.

Zach came from dead last through entire pack including big bunch of regular top 5 national riders and all on a standard bike with a pipe bolted on that he'd ridden just once before. All that shit from goons about Zach only doing good because he's in a 3rd rate series got put into perspective today. How can someone that talented be missed by the teams in the US? He's got a bright future.

To finish first, one must first finish. Ferry was the MAN today. Like Roger D. said "Ferry is our insurance policy". Zach did look good today. So did Stewie. Until they fell. Unsure

All this sourness....Look, Ferry is as tenacious as they come. Ferry came from 38th to 5th...yeah, real average. I understand you might be a little pissed, or "cheesed off" as you and your countrymen might say, but the fact is USA spanked the field today, get over it.

They have an interview of "The Man" on Moto Verte (In French) DeCoster said that they picked Ferry for his ability to come back through the pack. Good strategy since things don't always work as planned.
There is also an interview of Pourcel who mentioned that James was not too happy with a block pass and had word with him about it on the podium.

I am not sure what you know about Zach, but I am pretty sure he didnt slip through any cracks here. He is lucky to be in the top ten here in the MX2 class.

A year ago he was fat and soft and couldnt make it 8 laps at speed. what you are seeing is a kid who knows his future is fleeting and is doing everything he can to hold on. I will admit that the kid is loaded with talent but so is every kid in the MX2 class here. Next year when Pourcels is lucky to crack the top 5 here in the MX2 class you will see.

I think its funny the way all the euros are claiming Zach because he rode the GPs, there is a reason for that.

There is nothing worse then a misinformed loudmouth.

Did he not et injured a lot in the US and this is really his first time being healthy??
9/28/2008 8:26pm
Yea he was hurt, but that isnt why he lost his ride, he pretty much ate his way out of a ride he shouldnt have gotten in the first place. When he was healthy the best he ever did was 8 in a moto, after 15 minutes he would fold up like a lawn chair.

I am not saying the kid doesnt have talent, because he does. But the MX2 class is loaded with young talent, Izzi, Stroupe, Dungey, Wharton and there is another kid coming up next year on a Honda that is faster then all those guys. All these guys would simply put it to Zach, and I would bet money that most of them would put it to Ferry on a 450.

The team you saw today wasnt our best team, if you take pollotics out of it you would have seen a different team.

1997 Ferry won the 125 East title...fast forward 11 years and he wins the MXDN for the USA. Amazing.

Osborne was doing great on a 450! On saturday he was on fire!! And look pumped to get past most of the american based riders like Ferry and Byrne. He has mad skills.

Ferry was not impressive at all on saturday and in the first race. But he came good in the last race picking up riders one by one slowly with a strong finish. Great rider to have on your team like RogerD said you know he'll put in this result that you need.

Oh trust me there champ I keep up, I know Pourcels was here and won his second race and then went out and about ended his career. If you think he is going to make a dent against the new kids after sitting for 18 months your kidding yourself.

Oh yea one more thing there champ, Zack lost his ride after politics got him his ride. Any thing you hear other wise is just spin.

Dont come on here acting like your special and know more then anyone here.

Thats right, about the same age that Everts won both his moto's in 06. Wink

In truth, I'd like to see Ferry do a few GP's as I think he'd go well in 40 minute moto's - although he was complaining about the track being too rough and not being groomed inbetween races, so maybe it wouldn't be such a good idea?

Don't try and put words in my mouth, the only person trying to be a smart ass is you. Zach should be racing on a good team in the states thats the truth. He didn't suddenly get fast in GPs. Anyone at the circuit yesterday would have been thinking the same thing. I'm fully aware that its a results based industry but there can only be handfull of riders in the states with more speed than Zach and that kind of talent deserves a ride regardless of his previouse results. Lets be clear he wasn't just a little bit faster than Ferry/Byrne/Metcalfe and a load of other top GP talent, he had noticably more speed. Its pathetic how some people still bad mouth him and belittle his recent results.

I can appreciate your perspective, Alex. The truth is that Zach didn't impress here as much as was expected. It seems fairly evident that his re-dedication to the sport is paying off over there. Good for him.
