Actually was a pretty good read. Thanks.
That being said, I kind of had to read between the lines. You can tell there is some BS in that whole Motoconcepts & Medaglia situation. I'm talking on both sides by the way.
I think when it boils down to it, I think Motoconcepts and Alessi's are tired of being considered a 2nd tier raceteam . Like Tony said 'they want to be the big fish in a small pond'.
Also, it makes me wonder if they can't get any Suzuki support because they are running a two year old bike.

He must have a time machine, he knew in '12 that they would be running the same frame in '14 so he could buy extras....

Have you guys tried the newer equipment—the 2013′s or ’14′s—or do you guys just really prefer the frame geometry of the 2012′s?

All the top guys that ride with that bike ride with the ’12 chassis. Luckily, I figured that out at that time, so I was a little ahead of the curve and I was able to get enough materials to keep the program rolling for quite a few years.

Its like reading a national enquirer story, there is a little truth in it but mostly bullshit. I do think they are smart to race in Canada no matter what because now that Metcalfe is riding the Nationals then Alessi is the heavy favorite to win even though I think they will screw it up by doing something stupid but they are entertaining its like going to the circus every week.

Such a bullshit interview. Tony is so full of it. He said on the pulp show that when Mike T-boned Tickle, he wasn't under any sort of probation with MX sports, when in reality they still were.

Can't you see this coming? Tony will push Mike way too hard, because in his mind if Mike can't win a championship in Canada he is toast.

Just watch Mike will go right from the first round to the next track and put in a zillion laps, and hurt himself again.

I liked Ping's analogy of it. "Going to Canada to win a championship is like being the valedictorian of summer school."

There's no surprise that they don't get support from Suzuki. They provide different branded bikes to their riders, they run their own color coordination, they don't have a good reputation in the sport, and they didn't play their cards right in the beginning when maybe they could have gained some support. If Davi Millsaps couldn't get support from Suzuki last year, there is not a snowballs chance in hell that motoconcepts would.

Even though I did the interview, I have a hard time believing they'd stick to the Canada plan if they win or do well at Glen Helen. I'd also really love to see Mikey have a year like 2009 minus the broken knee cap.

Good interview. The only thing else I wish Tony was asked was his thoughts regarding PEDs.

Supercross is feld mxsports is nationals, tickle n mike came together in a supercross event which means mxsports should have
Never came up. I haven't heard the interview but I would imagine either you or my dad got mixed up with mxsports/AMA , mike was not on probation with AMA which means his statement was correct. Mike was not on probation with AMA until that occurred. Smile

I think Mike needs to go to Canada, have some good results and get his confidence up.

How could winning, or maybe not winning but finishing top 3-5, in a second tier series (no offense to the canadians, but the US series has pretty much the best riders in the world minus a few in the GP's) get your confidence up? Seems to me like it would be a little demoralizing. Besides, if you read the interview with tony, it not about winning anymore. It's about having fun and gaining exposure for smart top hotub covers in a new market, eh.

Dan, I said it months ago. They know where they stack up in the US and they sell hot tub covers. There is a whole untapped market up there for their product. If they win up there, AND sell more product, it will be more lucrative to be up there......for the team. I'm not too sure how many in the US will follow what's going on up there.

Are you suggesting it is 3rd tier racing?

All I got from it was that they not wanted in USA and no one will help them to the extent they feel they deserve and Smartop is saying the "X" budget we give you is not really doing the ROI we expected so we going to Canada and maybe there we will get support from factories there to help with racing costs so we can still race as we really love it but have messed up here in the States.

I don't think the motocross market in Canada would be any more interested in hot tub covers than the market in the US...

Also funny how he says how they had good results and that didn't result in more support - maybe if he didn't burn so many bridges those results would've led to more support...

I don't think Mike is such a shoe-in with Josh Hill going up there also.

I read this interview as an unbiased fan and thought it was pretty damn good. It was straight to the point and there wasn't really any BS involved. I'll be a fan this year and will be following them in the Canadian series this summer. Lets try to evolve and put the pitchforks in the shed for awhile.

That's the thing. We've all "put the pitchforks in the shed" it's that we have to get them back out everytime something new comes along. I can't remember how many 2nd chances people have gave these guys.
