Looking for a new helmet. Not interested in a 6D. Crashed lightly and received a pretty good concussion. I'm looking between a TLD SE3, Shoei, Airoh, and AGV. Any opinions?

Airoh and AGV don't adhere to the DOT crash standards that the Japanese and American helmets do... its not to say they aren't safe.. its just that Europe has separate crash standards for onroad and offroad. so when you pick one up, youll notice it is noticeably thinner and flexes more, almost like a MTB helmet. They are also super light.

If it were me, I would hold out for just a bit to see what Fox is about to drop. they quit making their current helmet, which tells me they are starting to produce a new one. if it ends up being "nothing, then i'd buy a shoei.

So what I've gotten as answers is shoei but is there any info on the SE3? I really like TLD and their products and wondering if the helmet is just as good as the gear an other protection equipment.

I've had Fly the past few years and popped for a Airoh Aviator (Europe model). Like stated about it's not DOT approved, but keep in mind the Department of Transportation is an on-road entity and to adhere to their requirements Dirtbike helmets are subjected to tests based on asphalt crashes.

I elected for the Airoh that is not DOT approved and I love it. They run big, so if you're inbetween a medium and large go with the medium.

Yes I did. Not trying to preach hate over them I just don't think the technology has been tested long enough. I'm not sure if it even works.

Airoh is super comfy and one of the lightest helmets on the market. My V3 felt like junk compared to the Airoh.

I had a Bell, I loved it but I got ran over and it cracked. I quickly got an EVS T7 as a temporary and it held up amazing for how cheap it was. I was very impressed with it. I got a 6D after because a saw Zach Bell crash at Dallas in 2013 in person and from then I was sold. But I'm disappointed because I fell in a turn and bumped my head on my bars and I got a concussion from it. In my EVS I flipped down a hill breaking three major bones and my head was just fine. I didn't understand. I also had a friend who bought a Bell, rode the same day, hit a kicker in a roller coming out of a turn and was knocked out for three minutes.

I really want to believe that is you in your avatar.

One thing about the TLD's is there is pretty much nowhere to mount a gopro on top of them. you can, but it will be funky at best.

YOu can mount under visor with a custom mount. You can cut or remove the air scope on top for a mount.

I used a a SE3 last year, bumped my head, decided to display it and got a FLy F2 carbon, removable liner and lighter than the SE3. Very good bang for the buck. JT$ listed about 4 or 5 helmet companies that all come from the same facility.

Hard to go wrong with what you have listed, they are all very nice imo. Far stretch from this piece of shit I grew up using....

I was wondering how long it would take to sniff this one out. It gets easier every time.

I had a new Moto 9 carbon and got knocked out so I have been looking at helmets a lot lately. I love the look of TLD's and I liked the idea of the extra padding inside they claim helps for smaller impacts. The one thing I noticed was that most helmets have the dual density EPS but it looks like the Bell might not. I decided to go with a Shoei and I am sitting right now waiting for FedEx to ring my doorbell with it.

Not a scientific study but everyone I know that has worn a TLD has gotten a concussion. Most were simple tip overs. This includes myself. I know, you can get one in any helmet but without exception, if I have been around someone that is/was wearing a TLD they always got a concussion. Also, those same people did not get concussions as often in other helmets. I have made it a conscious effort to keep a mental note of this after I noticed a pattern. I love the look and design but have personally decided to never wear one and inform those that ask, my experiences.

I currently have TLD lid and love it.

I do like the fit of my Arai better though.

But the Arai graphics are complete garbage. I would buy the matte black version of the Arai if I were to get another helmet.

The SE3 has a removable liner. Also, I don't know what "Dirty Steve" is talking about. My GoPro mount fit perfectly between the visor and air inlet. Hard to go wrong with a Shoie or Arai. Can't speak for Airoh or Bell though.

Definitely liking the Shoei option with the way everybody is talking about them. I've never owned or even tried one on. I'm not getting an arai. I think they look retarded IMO. I am interested in hearing more about the AGV AX-8 Evo. Anybody have any opinions?

One more vote for the Fly F2 Carbon. Very comfortable and light (not Airoh light though)
I had a shoei vfx-w which I also liked, but the Fly sizing works better for me. And you can move the lid way up which is great for trail riding because you don't have to lift the goggle over it when you stop. Just rest them on the front of the helmet.

I had a F2 back when I wore fly. I'm a gear/helmet whore. If the helmet is good and safe, then I will get it with the same gear company that I wear.
