Took this video last weekend at Argyll Mx up in Norcal. This is the first time I have ridden the 500 on a track and I honestly expected it to handle like crap and be way to fast. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it took corners very well and the power was actually very easy to manage. Granted, this bike does have a large flywheel weight on it, but it was still easy to ride and didn't give me excessive arm pump or anything. The main thing is trying not to over jump some of the jumps, because you don't realize how fast you're actually going until you are in the air.
I usually just use this bike for hillclimbing, but I think I'm going to bring it to the track more often, it was a heck of a lot of fun and I think I'm probably faster on it. I heard some people like two strokes on here, and maybe even 500cc two strokes, so enjoy.
I know I'm no RV, but I pick it up a little bit on the second lap.

Honestly, I think these things could be a serious option if they updated the chassis and suspension a bit to current standards. The power is plentiful but not unusable. These things can pull 450s down a straight for sure, and don't really have that aggressive hit that makes most two strokes harder to ride. Just a thought, but what was the past might actually become the future if people gave them a shot. Don't knock em till you try em!
Nice bike and cool vid!
Hang on to that bike once you get it revved out. Great sound
Mxislife, those 5s look killer! It would be interesting to ride both back to back I bet.
Ramrod, surprisingly with the tamed down hit due to the flywheel weight, I didn't get any more arm pump than if I was on a 450, and that is something I struggle with.
The great debate of the best frame is long and drawn out; like best oil, best ratio, tomato/Yamato...
Pops went with the '08 450 frame.
