That he seems to be developing a serious drive as he matures. A drive that wasn't as easy to see in previous years. And what if he had a serious trainer routine where he was at his max conditioning and perfect weight? Could he even be faster? Like top 2 3 one day?
I think he has not reached his potential yet. Don't mean this as a knock on him. Just observation. I think he has serious potential to become like all the top guys. RC, CR, MC, JS and the like. I certainly hope so. He obviously has insane bike skills.

Maybe that's happening already, for all know.

Would that make him like a lenny Jr if he was more into fishing. Just kidding but somehow it fits.
I'm a huge supporter of Malcolm's .......but he has that same trait of going down quite a bit.( What's plagued James entire career ) For one....I think it's the damn 250's he's riding.....the boy NEEDS to get on a 450 and stay there. His riding style smooths out tremendously when he does. He'll be more competitive on the 450's as well ( I think ).....especially outdoors.
I hope he takes the next step , and that's realizing that it can be a great job with great benefits if you treat it " as a job "......and not something you do just for fun. I think he would even surprise himself in what he's capable of.
If the guy could just stay on a 450 for a supercross/outdoor effort, you would see better things.

And yes again when he is on a 450 he is better no doubt.
I think I am just trying to illustrate that in my opinion (only an opinion not known as fact) that he has a few levels left as far as his training and mental toughness goes. That in time, can propel him into future greatness. This is not to say they the kid does not try, does not train, does not try real hard. He obviously does. But I think I see that with a hair more maturity and time in the big boy class he could be a serious title guy one day.
I hope so.
Malcolm can win 250 supercrosses and would be a favorite for 2015. It would likely be worth getting the experience of winning at this level before jumping up full-time. He'd likely be paid better too.
450 Outdoors is a good geal, I want to see a Mookie/Peick battle.
I think this year he has finally started to put it all together. The last few seasons have been plagued by some big time crashes. I would love to see him back in 2015 on the same deal...Lites SX and 450's outdoor. He could be a title contender in Lites SX.
